Santos Tour Down Under: Stage 2
Another stage for sprinters in Down Under. Yesterday, Bennati delivered after Liquigas put him in the perfect position, but can he do it again?
Anders Lund tried to make it into the day's breakaway but he wasn't able to join the right breakaway even though there was a group of 15 riders that managed to fool the pack. Still nothing special happened in the breakaway today, Le Lay keeping the KoM jersey.
At the last intermediate sprint of the day, Boonen was the only big name to get involve. And because he had a significant gap in front of the pack, the Belgian Champion took the race on his own for the last 10 kilometers.
Boonen put in a very good fight but he was eventually caught inside the final 5 kilometers. The preparations for the sprint started but none of yesterday's performers were in a great position.
Garmin and Cervelo dominated the sprint, both with three riders in front of the pack with less than 3 kilometers left before the finish line
Cervelo's Roger Hammond wasn't able to take a big advantage from his team - mates work, but Farrar did and he was leading the pack under the 1 kilometer banner. Bennati was also looking in a better position now, ready to defend the leaders jersey
No one was able to post a threat for Farrar in the final kilometer and the American sprinter took the stage win. Bennati took the second place from Hammond and consolidated his overall lead

I found them via google, don't remember the site. There were quite larger so I had to resize them myself.

Santos Tour Down Under: Stage 3
Another mass sprint is expected, but this one should be more exciting as the final kilometers of the stage aren't entirely flat as we were used to in the previous stages.
So far, Bennati was the only rider that finished at the top in both stages, but he needs to do it again if he wants to keep the orange jersey on his shoulders.
Nothing special in today's breakaway except that Juan Jose Oroz is the new wearer of the King of the Mountains jersey, after taking the only summit of the day.
Again the breakaway had no chance against a pack hungry for a mass sprint and with 20 kilometers before the finish it was clear that the stage was going to be win that way.
Today, the train made by Vacansoleil proved to be the strongest and all the big guns followed Carrara and Feillu's wheels. On the other side of the road though, Voigt and Pedersen were coming pretty fast as well
And the CSC riders got the lead of the pack with 3 kilometers to go, with Pedersen making his move one kilometer later
Pedersen entered the final kilometer with a consistent lead but he didn't look as strong as his opponents, while the finish line was approaching
The Dane cracked in the final meters of the stage and even lost the podium. FDJ's Geslin took the stage win, followed by Boonen and Feillu, while Bennati kept the leaders jersey after finishing fourth
Stage
1. | Anthony Geslin | Française des Jeux | 3h20'04 | 2. | Tom Boonen | Quick·Step | s.t. | 3. | Romain Feillu | Vacansoleil Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 4. | Daniele Bennati | Liquigas - Doimo | s.t. | 5. | Martin Pedersen | Team CSC | s.t. |

Santos Tour Down Under: Stage 4
Bennati, Farra and Geslin each got one stage win so far. Today will we see one of them getting the double or will we see a fourth stage winner in Down Under?
Early in the stage, Juan Jose Oroz took the only summit of the day and extended his lead in the KoM rankings. Again the breakaway of the day had no chance against the pack, which headed in the final kilometers of the stage towards the expected mass sprint.
In the last 5 kilometers of the stage, Voigt and O'Grady started working for Pedersen and they did an amazing job, putting CSC's sprinter in a perfect position
But just like yesterday, Pedersen was again not able to deliver and under the one kilometer banner we had a very tight battle at the front of the pack for the stage win
The finish was very close as well and while Pedersen lost everything in the final meters, Farrar and Bennati fought for the stage win. The American took it at the photo - finish but it's still Bennati who is leading the race before the queen stage
Stage
1. | Tyler Farrar | Garmin - Transitions | 3h25'31 | 2. | Daniele Bennati | Liquigas - Doimo | s.t. | 3. | Allan Davis | Astana | s.t. | 4. | Mirco Lorenzetto | Lampre - Farnese Vini | s.t. | 5. | Greg Van Avermaet | Omega Pharma - Lotto | s.t. |
Overall
1. | Daniele Bennati | Liquigas - Doimo | 13h08'25 | 2. | Tyler Farrar | Garmin - Transitions | + 2 | 3. | Anthony Geslin | Française des Jeux | + 12 | 4. | Tom Boonen | Quick·Step | + 13 | 5. | Mirco Lorenzetto | Lampre - Farnese Vini | + 16 |

I don't think I'm going to early with Pedersen. It's just that he isn't as good as the top sprinters here.

Santos Tour Down Under: Stage 5
The fifth stage in Down Under means that it's time for the queen stage of the race, where the classic Australian hill, in Willunga will be passed. Bennati is the current leader, with a slightly advantage over Farrar, but everything could change at the end of today's stage
With a really good shot for the race to be decided today, it was clear that the breakaway won't be let to make it all the way to the finish. And all the escapes were caught before the final climb of day was reached.
There were plenty attacks at the top of the Willunga hill, but in the end only five riders were able to make a difference and they were divided into 2 groups
In the first group we had Pozzato and Van Avermaet, who were looking set to make it all the way to the finish and settle stage win and the leaders jersey between themselves.
In the second group we had CSC' Jens Voigt, joined by two sprinters, Mirco Lorenzetto, who finished second in the opening stage of the race and the home rider, Alan Davis
The pack did everything they could to catch the attackers and even though Pozzato and Van Avermaet were too strong to be caught, with less than 5 kilometers to go, Voigt's group was brought back
Pozzato was fooled by Van Avermaet, who took the Italian's wheel in the closing kilometers of the stage and just waited for the best moment to make his move
And even though he waited until the final kilometer of the stage, Van Avermaet not only took the stage win and the orange jersey, but also gained 16 seconds on Pozzato, who was dead in the final kilometer
Farrar led the pack, but they finished 49 seconds behind the winner, which means that the only place on the podium that could change in the final stage is the third one, where we have a very close battle between the American and the previous leader, Daniele Bennati
Stage
1. | Greg Van Avermaet | Omega Pharma - Lotto | 3h35'48 | 2. | Filippo Pozzato | Team Katusha | + 16 | 3. | Tyler Farrar | Garmin - Transitions | + 49 | 4. | Tom Boonen | Quick·Step | s.t. | 5. | Roger Hammond | Cervélo Test Team | s.t. |
Overall
1. | Greg Van Avermaet | Omega Pharma - Lotto | 16h44'25 | 2. | Filippo Pozzato | Team Katusha | + 20 | 3. | Tyler Farrar | Garmin - Transitions | + 35 | 4. | Daniele Bennati | Liquigas - Doimo | + 37 | 5. | Anthony Geslin | Française des Jeux | + 49 |
Spoiler 6. | Tom Boonen | Quick·Step | + 50 | 7. | Mirco Lorenzetto | Lampre - Farnese Vini | + 53 | 8. | Allan Davis | Astana | + 55 | 9. | Martin Pedersen | Team CSC | s.t. | 10. | Roger Hammond | Cervélo Test Team | s.t. | 11. | Romain Feillu | Vacansoleil Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 12. | José Vicente GarcÃa Acosta | Caisse d'Epargne | + 56 | 13. | Domenik Klemme | Team Saxo Bank | s.t. | 14. | Grega Bole | Lampre - Farnese Vini | + 57 | 15. | Wesley Sulzberger | Française des Jeux | s.t. |

Santos Tour Down Under: Stage 6
The last stage in Down Under is a criterium in the city of Adelaide and shouldn't bring any major changes to the general classification. Also, only a major could stop Van Avermaet winning the race
For the third time in the race, Pedersen got an almost perfect lead - out from his CSC team - mates, Voigt and O'Grady
But once again the Dane wasn't able to deliver and other riders fought for the stage win. In a very close finish, Farrar took his third stage win, in front of Davis and Lorenzetto
Van Avermaet only shined once in the race, but he did it in the perfect moment and took the overall win
