They say his injured.
Really strange story. Today Piva said that they wanted him to abandon the Giro on the second restday. He still felt good so continued. Then they forced him to start Suisse against his will.

I wont believe its a injury, just pure stupidity on BMC's side. Maybe Gilbert has messed up as well, but you simply do not NOT start Gilbert when the first week includes Huy, Bretagne and the tricky finish Le Havre (7%, 700 m if I am correct)
Oh well, now GVA will show what he has gotten |

Just saw a new program on the television here. About Tim Wellens, Louis Vervaeke, Jasper Stuyven and Sean De Bie sharing a house in Spain and their exploits this year. There will be 3 episodes. It was really interesting and entertaining to see behind the screens!
Fun fact: Wellens and his team mates actually have to play playstation to do training (helps your reflexes) |

To add to the Cyclists are 'underpaid dsicussion'. They're not.
A fireman earns peanuts compared to that.

So what, we have not discussed the salaries of football players at all, but some of you were saying that the cyclists are paid not very well. They are paid like kings for riding a bike, very well for the dangers they can face. That was the discussion.

Some words of wisdom from Cav today:

Its this time a year - first team confirmed for the Tour, Lotto NL:
Robert Gesink
Wilco Kelderman
Laurens ten Dam
Steven Kruijswijk
Sep Vanmarcke
Bram Tankink
Tom Leezer
Jos van Emden
Paul Martens
Actually a decently strong team in the mountains. The only one of them capable of top-10 should realistically be Kelderman, but read they wanted to keep all four into it (or attampt to) until the mountains. Decent chances at a win on hillier days in the last 2 weeks and Vanmarcke has one shot at the cobbled stage, otherwise, there is not much else for this team. Thought Hofland would do it, put pretty smart not do select him here considering the opposition and the lack of flat stages. Interesting if Kruijswijk can find his Giro legs in the last week or so.
Edit: And I dont HAVE to dislike this team anymore since Mochema left, that will be Trek now.

Yay!
As you guys probably figured I am quite excited for this.
Would rather have them putting Wilco as leader directly, but well, the ''multiple leaders'' tactic is something they've done the last years as well and I guess it worked out well for them.
Plus it might also be a way to put some pressure off Kelderman, after all this is his first TdF and the attention for Dutch GT contenders is always enormous in NL, around TdF that is.
Interesting that Bennett is not there and possibly Wynants as well. But still a pretty nice lineup without too many surprises.
Can't wait.
Edit:
Don't underestimate Ten Dam though, he strangely enough always has good Tour legs and was pretty good in the previous 2 TdFs as well(I remember him being 5th in the GC for a while in '13)

I think they just want to keep the pressure off Kelderman, I cant imagine them honestly believing either Kruijswijk (after that Giro) and Gesink would be able to do a good GC. Much rather attempt to win a stage or simply just be visible on a few stages (can count 5-6 stages in the second and third week which has good chances of going to a break and suits riders such at those decently).
I dno about Ten Dam. They should probably try to keep him in it with Kelderman, you never know how many riders will abandon and open the door for an "easy" top-10.
Yes, he was high on the GC after the Pyrenees and Ventoux (2 imapctfull mountaintops and an ITT), but quickly went out of it in the Alps with Mollema who still managed to finish off decently

That looks like a very smartly selected team. They at least have a chance at winning a stage or two which is always huge. |

I am sure lots of folks think I am an ass for how I commented for a while but thank you.
Remember as well that most euro salaries are after taxes numbers.
I apologize for sounding like a dick but it is hard to read things like riders are not getting paid crazy numbers in relation to their JOB when it is so obvious they are.
