Cav's fault, but I don't think there was much he could do, it all looked a bit too tight in the middle. But when you get GC riders taking up some of that room then the space is going to disappear.
Yeah, I dont know what Gerrans tried to do, I'm not saying he doesn't have a right to be there or he caused the crash but it was odd what he did because Cav Coquard and Greipel wanted to go and he was like a cork in the bottle he didnt even start to sprint. |

There was a crash and of course thats going to mess up the peleton a bit, so dont put to much jizz into Froome being on 6th he was just at the right place.
Well if he comes ahead of Kittel, Sagan, Navardakus, Coquard and Rogers he's in Yellow. [...]

Apparently Talansky finished 4:50 behind so there's that.

That replay doesnt show much at all.
Ya, it looks like Gerrans was not going to give Cavendish any room and Cavendish tried to push his way past.
So not Cavendish fault but he wasn't entirely free of some blame.
Gerrans doesn't need to give Cavendish any room. Gerrans and Coquard are going in a straight line, Cav pushes Gerrans, Cav's fault.
Not really, Cavendish had his line and Gerrans took it/pushed into it and by that Cavendish got into a tight spot and of course tried to get out.
So yes Cavendish could have tried something else or slowed down but its a sprint and the top sprinters dont give a thing.
Yeah that happens sometimes mate. It called getting boxed in. In that case, either you can find a line to get out or you slow down. Cav did neither and pushed Gerrans. Cav fault.
Talasnky + 4minutes? |

I think that will be corrected, it's provisional.

Classy way to end the post there
Doubt Froome/Sky would want yellow tomorrow so I think he would hang back and let someone else take it and defend it

I don't think the gaps from the 3km rule has been edited in yet, so probably he will get same time.
Far too late...

I saw Kwiatek near Cav shortly after crash, so he must have stopped to check what happened. I hope jury will maybe void that gap, but we'll see.

You're the most biased person I've ever seen on this forum. Like, really. Do you really even believe yourself when you say things like that?
Gerrans had his path and Cavendish had his path. They were riding next to each other. Cavendish train/leadout wasn't fast enough to make him go in front of Gerrans, so Cavendish was boxed from that side (his left) and thought he can maybe get a space by headbutting Gerrans. It's absolutely his mistake and it's like 3rd or 4th time that he does the same damn thing.
Cavendish clearly pushed Gerrans by his head, Gerrans had to push Coquard and Coquard just managed to escape fall by going to side. That "escape" made some space between Gerrans' & Coquard's bike, which was enough for Gerrans to fall. As Cavendish was constantly pushing Gerrans + he basically had his bike bent on that side, he fell with him, making few guys from behind crash with them, too.
So, it's absolutely Mark's mistake, no matter how biased you are (your nationality clearly says so) and how unlucky he was. It probably wasn't intentional and it probably was because of his too big desire to win this stage in his country. Shame for all of these riders.
---
Great sprint by Navardauskas. The guy is just a beast. I started liking him from start of last season and it's absolutely great to see him constantly doing good.
Cancellara's attack was another great thing of todays stage. You just gotta love Trek's riders fighting spirit (Voigt, Hondo, Cancellara, Devolder, Rast...)

Kwiatkowski lost 2:42 and Talansky 4:15 (!) according to PCS.
Maybe due to crash? Cavendish listed as 3'39 behind, and several others who were up at the front also listed as losing time like Gerrans and Trentin so probably they haven't factored it all in yet.
EDIT: Hopelessly Betancur'd Teruel'd etc.

That just seems plain stupid. If he did that, he lost those 2'42 and shouldnt be getting them back. |

Yeah dude its plain stupid to check if your friend is okay. So stupid of him. So next time if you see a team mate in a puddle of blood just ride past and not give a fuck coz GC is more important.
BTW. Jury voided the gap for Kwiatkowski and Talansky. The correct decision.

So Rogers has to be one of the most all-round cyclists now surely? Can climb and win massive MTFs, can TT, can descend and go over hills, and now can sprint!?

Cavendish being such an idiot. I'm happy he didn't take the stage in his home country. Don't know if his injury is deserved as well, but it was just stupid action from a sprinter who knew he was too late. Just like he did with Veelers last year. Sort of revenche now. I hope Gerrans and that Cofidis rider are okay. Happy to see Kittel take the yellow jersey again. Greipel was nowhere after his team controlled the whole stage. And Cancellara's attack was very nice. If Kwiatkowski stopped for Cavendish then it was a very dumb move. Well, at least the team don't have to work for him anymore and they can go for their own chance.

Of course it's stupid. he wasn't going to help Cavendish one bit. Also Cavendish wasn't in a puddle of blood, he was holding his shoulder, so Kwiatkowski lost almost 3 minutes for basically nothing. |
