Lotto Belisol to become Lotto Soudal from next season (2015) through to at least 2020.
Nice that Lotto has secured future for such a long period of time, now they only need their talents to grow and eventually replace Greipel, who seems to have lost some of his speed.
Also, will we have two Lotto teams next season or the Dutch one will get another name to avoid confusions?

Talansky, Martin, Hesjedal and Cardoso.
What a fine roster is that! After years of sending an underpowered team climbing-wise to GTs, finally they have plenty of proper climbers lined-up for races like this.
I can't be more excited to see it! And that means one of them will crash out, another one will be way off form, get ill or something and with a bit of luck, one of them will be at the bottom of top10 GC by the last stage. Or not.
I'll be praying for this not to turn out as an another disappointment. Vuelta 2012 was the last GT that went reasonably well (although not ideally) for Garmin. Please, let me enjoy a good GT for once!
At least there is Cardoso, so one guy will be in the top50 GC.
Last race where Cardoso finished outside top50 (overall, not stage, but including one-day races) was Catalunya in March 2012. And barring WC in 2013, not a single DNF.

Just watched his documentary there some interesting stuff with the peloton at the moment and doping lingering over the sport especially his relationship with Roche and Kelly well worth a watch if people can find it anywhere

Honestly this puts the team in another position where they have 3 leaders. I was hoping this time was over, because it usually ends with none of them doing particularly well.
Good thing about it is that all 3 of them cannot crash out hopefully!
After reading the article, it seems he will ride in support. I suppose it's actually good for Garmin to have a dedicated super domestique for their leaders! Though I think having Danielson or Acevedo to do that and Talansky leading the American races might have been a better option.
Also interesting if Farrar makes the team. I really doubt he would get another contract at this point, even though he had a very good classics season.

If rumours about Garmin-Canondale merge are true, Garmin will perhaps get Viviani and it may actually mean Farrar will be out. And Navardauskas maybe reached the point he can secure more results than Tyler as well, 3rd in Paris stage, not bad.
And I wonder if this talk about super domestique is maybe to make the pressure on Talansky lesser. Maybe they expect him to mount a GC challenge, but they won't tell so. It could be the pressure that ruined Talansky's race in TdF. He never was a crash-prone rider before IIRC. Maybe he couldn't handle the pressure of being TdF podium contender and a sole team leader in big race and that's why he fell down several times.
Cardoso could be a superdomestique, he is always around top20 level in GTs recently. But I don't think Garmin will have 3 guys going for GC. It will be about who will be in the best position after a couple of stages. But I would love them to win team classification. |

A bit of San Remo and the Liguria region for the beginning of the 2015 Giro d'Italia.
We begin with a provisional 18 kilometre-long Team Time Trial that ends in San Remo, before a day for the sprinters on the second from Albenga to Genoa (~150km), while the third day starts in Chiavari and ends above La Spezia (~185km) on the Biassa climb.

Posted it about a week ago - blame cyclingnews for being slow as always Nevertheless a Cinque Terre stage with a hill finish could be quite interesting so early on in the race

There is also (very unconfirmed) talk of a Tour finish on Col de la Bonnette next year, which would be amazing. A return to Pra-Loup, where Thévenét overtook Merckx in 1975, is also being considered. A stage finish on Alpe d'Huez, too. |

Maritime Alps
Does that mean they're considering Bonette - Pra-Loup as a stage? If so, I'm not sure that would really work as there are about 35km from the summit of Bonette to the foot of Pra-Loup; including 15km of dreaded flat valley road. Much better to use the Col de la Cayolle
This should really go in the Race Route Discussion thread.
Spoiler Shameless plug complete
Oh and Alpe d'Huez:

Oh and Alpe d'Huez:
Personally I'm hoping a finish on Bonnette after Col de la Lombarde. The next stage could start in Barcelonette and take Col de la Cayolle, Col de Champs, Col d"Allos and Pra-Loup. Which would totally honor 1975, which saw a stage going over Champs, Allos and finish on Pra-Loup, too. |

I was thinking something along those lines too - that would be an awesome duo to have, although not sure about the logistics of having a finish on top of Bonette, maybe they would have to repeat the 2008 stage with a finish in Jausiers.

List of riders going to Vuelta is incredible.
For GC we will have Nairo Quintana, Joaquim Rodriguez, Fabio Aru, Cadel Evans, Ryder Hesjedal, Dan Martin, Alejandro Valverde, Chris Froome, Chris Horner, Carlos Betancur, Rigeberto Uran, Robert Kiserlovski, Domenico Pozzovivo, Wilco Kelderman and now Andrew Talansky.
Tom Boonen and Peter Sagan will be also there. Add them to Naser Bouhanni and Nizzolo and we have brilliant sprint too.
Fabian Cancellara and Tony Martin are also going
So we have incredible race on our hands . |

I wonder if Gerald Ciolek is going to go, surely he would want to since this is MTN Qhubeka's only GT wildcard |

As an American fan I can't hope that Tyler leaves. His sprinting has been bad mainly because he doesn't sprint. He sprinted on the last stage of the Giro and got 3rd, so he isn't horrible. I'd go as far to say he was Garmin's best classics rider this season as well.
And what I meant was I wonder if he will be in the Vuelta, like he was last year.
