On a related note apparently the self styled UCI Overlord was at the recent presidential vote - bizarre though says it all.
Advising McQuaid at that I believe.
Yeah, you couldn't make it up, it's just too ridiculous. |

Gesink to lead Belkin in the tour of Beijing...... might be a right decision, stages 2 and 4 look like he might have a chance to win and take the GC
I'd say Gesink is as good a pick as anyone alongside maybe Dan Martin and even Mick Rogers? Think they are all in pretty good shape atm and there's actually some climbing this year, allbeit at fairly low gradients in the main.
Betancur, Costa and Porte also there but am a bit more doubtful about their form, especially Costa (surely taken his foot off the pedal now) and Porte (not done anything notable since the Tour).

It's pro cycling, we are the only sport which can compete with wrestling in ridiculousness.

On that note Cookson confirms the legal action against Kimmage is dropped https://www.velonation.com/News/ID/156...ion.com%29
Asked now if he believes Cookson represents a step forward, Kimmage is clear. “Absolutely. I don’t want to be flippant about him or be insulting to him, but he can’t be any f**king worse than McQuaid,”
Long interview on the link that's an interesting read. |

So Saxobank are basically stepping up their funding in 2014 to cover the gap left by Tinkoff's withdrawal. Whilst Riis will continue to look for additional sponsors to bring on board.
Statement has been released on the Team's website: https://teamsaxotinkoff.com/ny_news.as...mp;lang=uk |

Good to see that Cookson is starting to walk the walk. Getting rid of McQuaid was one of the best things that could happen to cycling, now if Cookson proves to be a decent (I'd settle with decent after the Pat Verbruggen years) president, it'd be double jackpot.

Don't know if it's been mentioned before, but Artic Race of Norway will be moved further north (all stages reportedly north of Harstad) and will take place from august 13th to the 17th.
There's a fine line between "psychotherapist" and "psycho the rapist"

Strong possibility of several sections of Paris-Roubaix cobbles to feature in the 2014 Tour de France. Prepare for total carnage!

even though I hate cobbled classic, I'm exited for this. iirc the last time the TdF had was in 2010 and that was amazing
edit: alright hate may have been the bad word to use here.

Reading the google translated version of that article is providing me with my daily dose of humour :
'Put away the clock at the bottom of the drawer. It ultimately keeps the pavement at hand. We also welcome the loyalty of Christian Prudhomme, who had promised (in 2010) a nice piece of cake if Lille Métropole, then compete with Barcelona would not be used for the organization of the Grand starting 2014.'

If that reassures you, even for a native reader it looks like poorly written French (can't blame them, they're from the North ).
"Chrono" is short for TT, btw.

I really like this idea and i am sure Froome doesn't like it too much. |
