I experienced this, too. But almost the last 10-20 sprints were weird no matter if the wind was strong or not. Just 1-2 exceptions actually.

I might reinstall the game and just copy all the CM_Stages, CM_Textures folders.
Also my tests during the stage making break had the same problem with the sprinters.

So after reinstalling and just overtaking stages and graphics I hope to have better sprints again. But I won`t experience this in the next hilly stage.


Amgen Tour of California - Stage 4
Livermore - San Jose

Todays stage is something in between hilly and mountain. As the last climb is quite steep and also the climbs before aren`t that easy we might see some big time gaps.
LL Sanchez will give everything to get a nice overall result. Although Kreder is in an excellent form here this might be a bit too hard for him but maybe he can keep the lead in the U25 ranking.

5 riders in todays group. Sánchez (Café), Busche (RadioShack), Creber (Endura), Ponzi (Farnese) and Antonov (Itera).

The two strongest teams are doing the pace. Leopard for Gesink and Astana for Contador but actually also Schleck, Knees, Porte or Evans could win this.

On the long climb after 80km the peloton splits into many group. Just 36 riders are in the first group afterwards. Luckily Sanchez, Kreder and also Löw are still in there. These 3 are doing a great job so far.

Sanchez was the last to catch. But immediately when this was done Contador with one of his strong attacks. Nobody was able to follow him.
Also LL Sanchez starts to struggle now as the pace is very high of course.

Gesink and surprisingly also Ardila Cano of the Cafe Colombia squad were the first chasing the Spaniard. Sanchez is still riding in the next group but already at his limit with just 2km to go.

Gesink got rid of the Colombian and sees Contador winning this stage. But still a good ride by the Dutch today.

Who can stop Contador now. He is the favourite for the time trial as also for the hardest mountain stage.

He gains 55s to Gesink and even 1'53 to F.Schleck. With Knees a 3rd Astana rider finished in the top 5 and ahead of the first bigger group around Sanchez, who lost 2'48 today but still in the top 10 overall.

Thanks. Also hope they are working now. Unfortunately the climb was too long for Sanchez with 79 fitness but as you said there are quite a few weak time trialists before him and the next hilly stage isn`t too hard, while the mountain stage could be too hard for riders like Kolobnev, Failli and maybe even Rodriguez and Ardila, although the did well. Who the heck is Ardila? It`s not the former Rabobank guy I first thought Wink

Another pretty flat stage before the first row of mountain stages. Therefore it`s a quite long stage and in the end there are lots of small hills. These can really be a pain in the ass after 10 days of riding and 200km.

As Farrar struggled in the last stages we considered to have one of our helpers in the group. Bobridge, Pate and Felline had the chance to find the successful group. Luckily Bobridge was able to jump in the second group, which became the break of the day.

Mørkøv (Rabobank), Lequatre (RadioShack), Pliuschin (Katusha), Clarke (Sky), Jørgensen (Leopard), Urtasun (Euskaltel) and Corti (Geox).
So it`s a strong group today and all of them with several minutes back. Actually Bobridge with just +10min is the best in this group as 50th.

Although NetApp and Colnago are doing the pace with several of their riders the advance became bigger and bigger. With 100km to go it was with almost 16min the maximum and Bobridge was in the virtual lead.

With 30km to go the advance was still 7min and so someone out of this group will surely win this stage. As there are some decent sprinters in it with Lequatre or Urtasun other riders had to attack. First was Pliuschin, but the other 7 riders worked together very well to bring him back.

With 4km to go and another attacks of Pliuschin and Bobridge everything looked like a sprint decision. Unfortunately Bobridge was in the lead of this group and of course none of the others wanted to help him out. Very bad position for the Australian.
The advance was still at 4'38, so Bobridge slowed down a lot in the hope of someone would overtake him, but no chance.

In the end Morkov wins a bit surprising ahead of Lequatre and Clarke. Bobridge at least finished on a good 6th. This was the maximum out of this position and his attack with 8km to go.

The winner of this group was of course Cavendish. Who else?
Bennati, Bazayev and Farrar are following next.
Bazayev is still the big surprise here. He isn`t a top sprinter but for some reasons he gets one great result after another. So far it`s not the best Giro for us but we still lead the team ranking and with 3 riders in the top5 of the U25 ranking we can be very happy with our young team here.

So 4th of the big field gives me hope for the next sprint stages as this sprint worked perfectly.
Higher pulse during the way to the best wheel, then down again when he found it and still some bars left for the final sprint and luckily also enough speed in the end to beat Modolo and Hagen and creating a gap to the next sprinters.
Hopefully this will also work now in a sprint for the win.

Nice 6th.. and more important, Farrar is back (hopefully); 4th in the sprint of peloton, way better than his recent results Smile

Amgen Tour of California - Stage 5
Seaside - Paso Robles

Todays stage leads along the Ocean on a very hilly route. Especially the last 40km aren`t easy, so there might be some attacks today. For Luis Leon Sanchez it`s a stage to "survive" before the two important stages. The timetrial and the mountain top finish.
As many favourites might save energy for these two highlights we will try to get into the break. It`s a perfect stage for it I think.

It`s Maaskant showing our sponsor in the break. After he was caught the first time he initiated another group and this time it was successful. With Burghardt (BMC), Hushovd (Katusha) and Leezer (RadioShack) there are three really good riders in this group. But also Niermann (CCC), Bencík (PSK), Bandiera (Farnese), Rudaskov (Itera), Quintana (Café), Zingle (Quick), Bauer (Endura) and Sesma (Euskaltel) are not to underestimate.

In the peloton it`s Astana and Leopard again doing all the work but as expected they don`t hurry too much and so the maximum advance is more than 10min.

Together the group starts the first longer climb. Especially the second half is quite hard with narrow roads.Maaskant, Hushovd and Burghardt are doing most work as they are the strongest riders here. ALuckily there are lots of fans here shouting the riders to unknown energy.

On the final kilometer of this climb Burghardt and Bandiera accelerated and created a gap to the rest. Unfortunately Maaskant wasn`t in the best position although he looked very strong. Probably he could have joined them.
So Hushovd and Maaskant have to do a higher pace. Unfortunately they don`t get a lot of help and so the gap is at ~1min.

Maaskant tried the same on the second mountain sprint and increased a lot. Just Hushovd was able to follow. The Norwegian seems to be in a great shape at the moment. But the winner might be one of the two race leaders, so these two will fight for the podium.

Meanwhile Kolobnev with the first attack out of the smaller peloton. But Astana won`t allow him very much and so he is caught back quite soon. Also it`s the first and only attack of the GC contenders. Easy ride for Sanchez, who has a great support by Kreder today.

A bit surprising Burghardt wasn`t able to follow the Italian and so Bandiera wins this stage. In the background you can see Maaskant taking a good third today, although he is still sad about this lost opportunity as he was probably the strongest in this group today.
Hushovd struggled on the last little climb and takes the 4th.

Almost 5min later the peloton with about 30 riders finished. Sanchez and Kreder are still in there as also all the top 10 contenders. Atapuma lost some seconds today and so Kreder is in the youth jersey again but still with the same time than Castroviejo, who might be the favourite on the next two stages.

Giro d'Italia - Stage 12

Today the stage is totally flat on 90% of the route. But the end with two small mountain sprints and then the final uphill decision might bring some action. Especially Liquigas captain Phillipe Gilbert is the man to watch here.

14 riders in this group. With Felline we might have one of the strongest here. But also the Spanish road champion Ventoso (RadioShack), Viganò (Sky), Marycz (Leopard), De Negri (Farnese), Brambilla, Girardi (Ceramica), Weylandt, Margutti (Androni), Sulzberger (FDJ), Houanard (Skil), Dall'Antonia (Liquigas), Howard (HTC) and Canuti (Colnago) are strong riders.

With 85km to go Gasparotto attacks out of the peloton. The advance of the break was at 5min at this time. This will be a hard day for the Italian if he wants to reach them.

Lampre and Liquigas are doing most work in the peloton. Of course Gilbert and Cunego with best chances here.

Gasparotto was caught with 30km to go and the advance was at 3min. So still possible and also the peloton slowed down a bit. So Canuti is the first with an attack as there are several of good sprinters in the group, he won`t have a chance in the uphill sprint.

Felline felt really good on the last climb and so he attacks with just 1,5km to the finish. Esepcially Vigano and Ventoso looked stron and so he had to make this move.

And it was enough. A great stage win for the young Italian Fabio Felline. That`s the reason why we signed him. It`s the biggest success in his young career and hopefully another step on his goal to become one of the best cyclists.

Almost 2min later Gilbert wins the sprint ahead of Cunego. These two were able to get a small gap to the next big peloton, where Martin finished with all the favourites.
The next stages will show how strong Martin really is.

Lots of big time trialists are participating here, so we can expect a close battle for the stage win. Except of Martin and Boom all 79+ riders are here including Cancellara, Larsson, Leipheimer and Contador.
With Meyer and Sanchez we are also aiming some good results today but most important is to gain more time with Sanchez to get a higher top10 result.

Cancellara is the first of the top favourites. Ovechkin was leading ahead of Bookwalter and Meyer but with so many big names left it will be hard for Meyer to hold this position.
And Cancellara indeed crashes all earlier times and takes the lead.

Larsson was a great addition for the smaller United Healthcare team. But although he takes the 2nd he is much slower than Cancellara.

Leipheimer is still a great time trialist but therefore lost a lot of his climbing skills. And he really takes the lead after a great ride.

Luis Leon Sanchez wasn`t able to get a top time as all of our riders. Obviously not the the timetrial doesn`t really suit our riders.
At least he will gain a few placements now and maybe even a top10 today.

Porte is one of the very strong Leopard riders in California and one of Sanchez`s biggest opponents. At least today he wins this duel.

Contador can`t get the stage win but he gained more time on his biggest contenders.

Not the best result for us today but maybe Sanchez can imporve more tomorrow with riders like Knees or Popovych ahead of him.
As expected Castroviejo got the U25 jersey today and it will be exciting to see, who is doing better in tomorrow`s mountain stage.
