Regardless of tactics, today was never going to be hard enough to gap Cobo. And even if he did, Cobo had De La Fuente and Menchov with him. Highly doubt Froome would've made it to the line.
All true... now, if the Vuelta had a finish in Eibar, then we could have seen a classical Vasco finish |

Yeah, not a clever route choice to have an anticlimactic finish like this.

What Sky should have done was to maybe get Wiggins to attack only to be followed by Froome. If Cobo followed them then they could do a "Schleck" and double-team him.
Yeah that doesn't work. The Schlecks aren't exactly the riders you would want to copy tactics from
Amen
When has that tactic ever worked for them?
The tactic is good. The problem is the Schlecks, not the tactic.
Of course it is. They're the only ones who can't use it.
That's why they've introduced a whole new concept to modern cycling: "The Schleck Sandwich"
"The Schleck Sandwich" and double-teaming... I think this thread is getting a bit to erotic now... or maybe not enough? |

I was wondering if anyone thought that Wiggins might have a shot today; if sky burn riders up on the early climbs by riding very very hard and then leaving Wiggins to attack on the final climb leaving something in the tank for one of the best time trialists int he world to do his thing on the long flat section towards home. The only way this would work if they chasing group holding Froome, who would be able to sit back and relax, Cobo and a few others using a lot of energy once they realise the threat. If Wiggins gets away chances are over such a long flat section he can gain enough time with bonuses to do a lot of damage and if he gets caught while it may be detrimental to his position other racers could have suffered so much in chase meaning that Froome may be able to snatch time bonuses. A key part of this will be Sky's ability to create a select group who will have burnt off sprinters and team mates of Cobo and Mollema. It would work out very high risk as Sky could go from 2nd and 3rd to just 2nd but at the same time without any real prospect for Froome to attack today and riders of likes of Sagan looking to gain points at the sprints tomorrow it may be a risk that could be worth taking. |

That's it, a 27 men break is gone without any of the KOM contenders. |

Doesn't look like, as the vantage raises up to 3 minutes.
Kiserlovski in the break makes it difficult to gain plenty of minutes though.

On a scale from 1 -10, how relieved do you think Cobo is that Sky doesn't seem to want to go for bonus seconds? |

LOL epic. Chris Froome sprinted all what he could to the 20 km mark because he thought it was the bonussprint.. Then a few kilometers later the real bonussprint comes, and Froome doesnt get any seconds |

Did Sky just make one of the stupidest mistakes ever? Mistaking 20km to go banner for an intermediate sprint lol wut.
If offense is the best defence, does it mean that defence is the worst defence?

I don't think that's what Froome was trying to do. There wasn't supposed to be a sprint at this of points of the stage
