As usually, very strong startlist on California. Good luck =)

Good luck in California! Johan92's version is way more interesting than the "standard-version".. but in my career (and single-race-mode, too) the mountain-stage to Mt. Baldy was not playable, it always crashed in loading-screen. Don't know, if it has been fixed or if it's just like that on my computer (I used the Tour of Utah-mountain-stage instead).

baia
Good luck..

Thanks all.
Hopefully it works for me. Otherwise I just downloaded the Utah Tour. What mountain stage is better or more similar there as I never played this race?

Amgen Tour of California - Stage 1

The first stage is already quite hilly in the end. After the last steep hill and the descent it`s still a uphill sprint waiting for the riders. So we might see some riders losing time on the very first stage here. Hopefully Sanchez won`t be one of them.

A large break this morning. Chérel, König (PSK), Zingle (Quick), Bøchman (Designa), Niermann (CCC), Ghyllebert (An Post) and Bauer (Endura) are some of them fighting for the mountain jersey and maybe even the stage.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/05%20May/TOC-1-3.jpg
All the Garmin riders are are riding in the first row to avoid crashes. Especially Kreder is looking very strong today. His fitness it great and also his feeling today is brilliant. Sanchez meanwhile could feel better but he has no problems so far. Hopefully his form will become better on the mountain stage and the timetrial.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/05%20May/TOC-1-4.jpg
Last hill and Contador with the first favourite`s attack. Just Popovych is following immediately.
Other riders like Rodriguez, Chavanel and and Kolobnev increase the pace to catch him and winning the KoM sprint.
So all riders are together on the descent again.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/05%20May/TOC-1-5.jpg
On the final uphill part Contador attacked again but he was a bit out of power after the first attack, So Sanchez and Kreder were able to follow him and had a good position for the sprint.
But in the end it was Kolobnev with the best legs. He wins ahead of F.Schleck and Gesink. But also our riders entered the top 10 without losing time and the U25 ranking for Kreder. Good start for us so far.

+ 1!

It's Utah's 6th stage Smile

roturn
Thanks Baia and Tsmoha.
I will take the 6th then if the normal stage crashes.

Unfortunately the long55km flat ITT crashed every time in 3D mode for some reason. I played it with the lowest possible details and still crashes. It might have something to do that there are 4 intermediate times or finish times but just 3 open windows to show it. So I had to simulate again. Not sure if I would have done better or worse on my own.

Giro d'Italia - Stage 8
Marsciano - Panicale
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/05%20May/Giro-8-1.jpg
A very long time trial. Good for all the time trial specialists in the fight for the overall win like Brajkovic, Nibali, Karpets or even Basso and Scarponi. Bad for riders like Martin, Ricco or Cunego.

We will definitely lose lots of time with our two leaders here as both of them are weak in this stages. Therefore we have 3 great chances for a podium or even stage win here. Lars Boom, the ITT World Champ is one of the big favourites next to Boasson Hagen and Clement.
But also Bobridge and Pate have good chances as also Fothen and Brajkovic.

In the end it looked like a very close decision. Fothen was the fastest on all 3 intermediates and still 17s faster than Boom on the last. But obviously he spent too much energy on the first two thirds as he lost more than one minute on him in the end.
So Lars Boom with a dominant win today, so that he will also conquer the overall lead for one day before tomorrow`s mountain stage.
Also Bobridge and Pate with nice top10 results.

Times of the overall contenders:

Brajkovic +2'36
Nibali +3'02
Monfort +3'25
Karpets +3'26
Scarponi +3'53
Basso +4'04
Rogers +4'07
Cunego +4'58
Rujano +5'12
Pozzovivo +5'30
Cataldo +5'51
Efimkin +6'05
Martin +6'28
Soler +6'49
Ricco +6'55
Masciarelli +7'15
Stetina +8'15

So Martin`s time loss is about where we expected. So he must gain this time in the mountains again. Actually his biggest contenders are riders like Monfort, Cataldo, Rogers, Rujano, Efimkin, Karpets or Ricco now as the strong Italians should be almost out of range if they are nearly as dominant as in the last years.

Have you tested the timetrial stage? I was never able to finish the stage as it crashed during the race.
I like you avatar Wink

Thanks. boom is 95 now. His first big season peak before another time for Eneco, Worlds etc.

That's because it has three intermediate points, I think. Whenever I play a time trial with three of those, it always crashes (played 4 or 5 of them so far, some in the last PCM)

Good to know. But actually I think my own result would have been quite similar as there aren`t the biggest time trialists as Martin, Cancellara, Leipheimer, Contador or Larsson.
So Boom was the best with 79. I even think I would have done better with D.Martin, so even a disadvantage but not sure about this. Still good chances for a good result as there are enough mountain top finishes and a mountain time trial to go.

Congratz for getting the jersey. Hopefull Martin can make the podium in the mountains. Are there anymore timetrials to worry about?

roturn
Actually Pellizotti had two long, flat ~50km time trials in his Giro variant. But when I planned my season and decided to go for the Giro with Martin I had another variant installed with one flat and one mountain time trial.

Later when I decided to give his variant a shot I changed the 2nd flat into a mountain time trial. With 110km of flat time trials I wouldn`t have send Martin as leader Wink

All stages work fine for me. I hope the rest will work better for you. Sorry for the problems.

No problem at all. Were 2 weird problems.
But the main point why I have chosen your Giro was that all the climbs looked very realistic. So I am looking forward to the next stages. Wink

As I am at the University until 5 and then playing football and having a party tonight I am not sure if I have time to play another stage today. Also tomorrow it`s definitely no time before the evening. (10 hours of university non stop Frown)
