A shame that we didn't go for the break, as this was one of the better opportunities. Oh well, congrats on the win, roturn!

Two very good stages for us! Guldhammer is looking set up to hold his top 5 if he can manage to not crack on stage 18 or stage 20.
Team looked quite good on stage 16. Warbasse took an opportunity to try out the breakaway, which was nice to follow. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be, but it turned out okay for us. Eg had a better day than usual to protect Guldhammer, and Rasmus played it cool and smart on the final climb. Kept his powder dry and was ready to finish best of the rest so as to solidify his time gaps. I'm all for aggression in most cases, but Guldhammer is not in the winning tier here, and we've managed to get ourselves narrowly into the GC top 5, which is more prestigious than we hoped for. I'm all for playing it conservative now.
Stage 17 was less of a fight for us. Probably should have been the day we sent someone like Warbasse up the road, but I'm not complaining. Our team was all over the front and no time gaps were given. And, importantly, another one of our young riders gets himself a stage top 10 in the Giro, this time, Olesen! If anyone deserves it, it's him. Faithful, consistent domestique who fought through his 20's just to get enough contracts to keep developing. Love to see him sneak into a minor placing there.
Sorry knockout, as a neutral example I just can't help but laugh that THAT is the stage Eislers gets a top 5. Can't make this up.

Two amazing stages from my perspective!
First, a return of the dominant Herklotz of the Zoncolan, measuring his effort very nicely again which enabled him to preserve the gap created by the initial attack.
I hope Kudus gets a serious shot at a stage victory in the final stages, he deserves to take home a win from this Giro. Maybe in the MTT?
And today's second stage comes with two very enjoyable storylines, first of all congrats to roturn on a great victory that should compensate for the frustations the first two weeks have caused you.
Similarly, Areruya with another successful adventure off the front of the peloton and Yates and Eislers leading that home brings more points to riders that were struggling at some point in the race (or at all points in regards to Eislers...).
And more selfishly, sixth from Silvio on that stage really increases our ciclamino chances to form a clear path to it over the course of the final four stages.
With even a win in the MTT bringing very few points in comparison, we need either one of the two remaining tough stages to go to the favorites, or both go to small breaks.
And then it might still depend on the misfortune of Kemboi, which I obviously wouldn't want to actively cheer for.
The GC gap looks decisive, but still not comfortable enough to not demand full focus on the upcoming MTT.
Daily form can decide over minutes here, and we don't want to enter the penultimate stage with too much anxiety.
Two more efforts for the triple, Silvio!

Well that huge effort from the previous stage backfired immediately. Guess it's back to fighting for second now.

I'm sorry. It deserved to be backed up by a strong ride today.

Well, this is cementing my love for Areruya, what a man! Absolute fighter, love his effort here in his first Grand Tour. Frustrating to not get a gap or stage rewards after such hard work but unlike last time he probably didn't deserve one here unfortunately. Still, did actually gain a GC place thanks to bonuses Hope this wasn't a mistake in hindsight but love it for now, just sad to have yet another near miss at stage honours which he clearly wants very badly
Congrats roturn, Carboni deserved that one! Think surely he'll take blue at some point unless somehow Areruya falls enough in the next two days to attack again on Stage 20. Happy to keep it for now though
Schomber making an absolute cakewalk of the lanterne rouge. Really would love it if he could finish the race, wasn't expecting him to at all but now I really want that lanterne rouge with the end in sight

Should be in the bag for big Silvio now, but looks set for a great fight for 2nd place. With the final days coming up, I believe we have scored two points so far, so just something would be great. Fingers crossed.

At this rate it's just about getting this race over with I think.
Aidan on paper could be a good bet for tomorrow, but I haven't seen him try really this far, and he doesn't seem to climb very well, so I think it's just a write-off, and then we can get some minor points from Mavrikakis finishing somewhere in top 50 depending on how much he attacks. If he doesn't attack, or they are caught early he could be as low as 40th. If he does attack and it sticks for quite some time, he could be somewhere around 18-22.

Solid TT by Chiarello. Not sure how well the remaining mountain stage suits him but if he could defend his current position, that would be nice.
Next stage looks like the final chance for Eislers for a stage podium when looking at how things worked out so far
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Finally do have time to fully catch up: what an entertaining battle for the 2nd place behind the almost unbeatable Kaiser Silvio. Only too bad there is only one stage left so it looks like we may not be able to do it, this TT looks like a key result for Joe. Still not a bad first GT for Kudus - the first overall podium in a GC looks almost sure now.

Quite a good performance by Guldhammer there. Lost a tiny bit of time in early part, but didn't hemorrhage any time to anyone that matters and gets a stage top 10 out of it too. Only one more big stage for him to hopefully not crack on, and we can potentially leave the Giro d'Italia with a GC top 5 and two stage wins, all from Danes!

The second place could potentially be played at the bonus seconds. Not a sight we'd have wanted to see with just one proper mountain stage left.

Didn’t expect to be happier with our GP Lichtenstein result than this today but here we are

Lovely battles to watch on the final stages all over the Top 10!
I'm excited for the conclusion of this race.
Silvio did brilliantly again today, a well-paced ride to sneak in ahead of an again unlucky Kudus.
I hope we won't let any dangerous guys get significant gaps for free in the next two stages, that should be the only worry left.
Wearing all three jerseys is crazy, but I don't expect it to last with at least the KoM surely changing hands again.
Tomorrow should be a breakaway win for sure, maybe there's a lower Top 10 still to contest.

Putting Mavrikakis in todays break was a very bad move considering the toughness of tomorrows where I need him to be on the offense in order to fight for KOM and GC. Aidan in the break today was exactly like it should be - but it seems very very difficult to win from breakaways in this version. This would have been a breakaway given stagewin with the previous version.
I guess that't part of the learning curve in terms of which riders are worth having. We tried, and that's all we can ask for. Had Mavrikakis won the KOM today he would have been 4th KOM so that's something that defends his move I guess.
Last chance tomorrow to get more than 20 points from this race (outside the minimum from completing the race and Mavrikakis something like another 20 points).

This was a horrible AI stage. No way in any Race should this stage go to the peloton, especially if it's random riders sprinting. On top our team tried nothing, with a full breakaway team that is bad. Thanks for the report!

Agree with Croatia. Thought we had a good chance to grab some points when the break got away, but instead it ended in a weird bunch sprint. Frustrating race for us, with more or less nothing due to getting so little out of good break opportunities like today. We even had Trondsen in the peloton, but no sprint from him today. At least good to see a rider like Yates take advantage of the outcome.
Thanks for the report, redordead!
