Definitely chanigng my answers to now include cycling ones
Wonderful, that will lead to a 0-pointer and will be easier to include into the sheet |

Even technically wrong answers are still allowed in this game. Being correct is not the point, it's to be Stupid!

Imo there's a difference between wrong answers and answers that have explicitly been prohibited. Wrong answers count, in my opinion it's fine to give 0 points for the latter. There's a reasoning behind it that should be respected, I think. But I'm fine either way, I guess.

I think as cunego said, there is a difference between wrong answers and answers that have been outright stated to be disallowed. Maybe allow the people who submitted cycling answers to submit new answers that are allowed, and extend the time one more day

Just to be clear here: A cycling answer will lead to a 0-pointer, no discussion. |

Happy I wasn't the only one to think about Contador's steak. EPO is also a great answer, although it technically isn't really something you have as dinner.
Thought question 3 would get some more cycling related answers on this forum. Was thinking about Ulrich and Betancur and went with the more recent one, but good to see Jan Ulrich also got a mention. Obelix is also a good answer, that I was thinking of.

I'm with stupid 2021 - Game 2, Round 2: Sports
The second round is about all sports but no cycling. Can former gamemaster cunego59 defend his lead?
1. Name a reigning World Champion.
The most popular answer for a World champion was Lewis Hamilton, somebody I didn't think was that popular but recency effect and the glory of Formula 1. Pushed it up top. Almost as many had the idea of France of Kylian Mbappé, they offer reasonable points. Special mentions to Magnus Carlsen and Gerwyn Price, who both were neat choices. LA Dodgers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a stinker, but well deserved to those national sports leagues that claim to create "World Champions" when they clearly don't.
Spoiler Lewis Hamilton | 7 | France | 4 | Kylian Mbappé | 2 | Johan Kristofferson | 1 | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | 1 | LA Dodgers | 1 | Gerwyn Price | 1 | Magnus Carlsen | 1 | Cheslin Kobe | 1 | Simone Biles | 1 | Uganda | 1 |
2. Name an iconic Olympic athlete other than Usain Bolt and Michael Phelps.
A wide open category where I liked the answers a lot. I love you guys for making Jesse Owens the top answer, who displayed brilliance in sports and societal terms demonstrating what should be the olympic spirit. Carl Lewis and Mark Spitz received decent mentions for their class on the track and in the pool. Surprisingly only one answer for Muhammad Ali and only one guy frmo the winter olympics in legend Ole Einar Bjørndalen, who I thought would receive more attention due to the current winter World Championships running in many places. Lovely answers in more niche guys like Šarūnas Jasikevičius and Kerri Walsh Jennings. A bonus point goes to kandesbunzler 26, for his answer I'm going to quote here.
Éric "the Eel" Moussambani (Who - competing in the men's 100 m freestyle at the 2000 Olympics for Equatorial Guinea - swam in a 50 m pool for the first time in his life, managed to win his run taking twice the time of the eventual winner and - even more impressive, if you see his run - managed not to be the first Olympic swimmer drowning live in television while competing. And to be serious: that really was an iconic moment for me.)
Other than that (but for the same reasons): Eddie the Eagle (who was before my time, thus my decision for Eric).
Spoiler Jesse Owens | 5 | Carl Lewis | 4 | Mark Spitz | 3 | Ole Einar Bjørndalen | 1 | Michelle Jenneke | 1 | Šarūnas Jasikevičius | 1 | Éric "the Eel" Moussambani | 1 | Simone Biles | 1 | Kerri Walsh Jennings | 1 | Zatopek | 1 | Cameron Wurf | 1 | Muhammad Ali | 1 |
3. Name a discipline that should be in the Olympics but isn't yet.
There are too many options for this, I know. Eventhough redordead insists there are too many already, Darts took the top spot with 4 mentions, more love for Gerwyn Price here. I don't think it should, so fight me. Then we had many answers with 2 points, including the calmer Chess and Snooker/Billard as well as more rapid Squash, Rugby Fifteens & Rollerskating. I personally love the idea of Disc-Golf, which sadly only got one vote as well as awesome Cross-Country Running jandal's Kabaddi. No love for my beloved Spikeball hurts a lot
Spoiler Darts | 4 | Chess | 2 | Snooker | 2 | Squash | 2 | Rugby Fifteens | 2 | Rollerskating | 2 | I'm With Stupid | 1 | Dodgeball | 1 | Disc-Golf | 1 | Bowling | 1 | too many already | 1 | Kabaddi | 1 | Cross Country Running | 1 |
4. Name a team/franchise that does worse than its name suggests.
Honestly I wasn't sure about this, as I expected that an answer like the New York Knicks, Arsenal or Ferrari could dominate. How wrong I was! It's the New Yoek Giants taking the win, as the answers were taking more literally than I expected. Arsenal received 2 as well as the Washington Wizards. There were loads of ones, most notably Club The Strongest: A Bolivian football club that will hand bikex a bonus point for creativity.
Spoiler New York Giants | 4 | Arsenal | 2 | Washington Wizards | 2 | Vitoria Setubal | 1 | Isostar - Specialized | 1 | Los Angeles Kings | 1 | BC Utenos Juventus | 1 | New York Jets | 1 | US Mens Soccer | 1 | New York Yankees | 1 | Liverpool FC | 1 | Orlando Magic | 1 | Scuderia Ferrari F1 | 1 | Track - Siegerfoto | 1 | Sacramento Kings | 1 | Club The Strongest (La Paz) | 1 |
5. Name a (sports) one-hit wonder.
This question turned out to have more cumulative answers than I feared, which is nice. The win goes to the cindarella story of the football European Championships of 2004, where an old Greek team revived long forgotten strategies including a libero to hit the biggest upset since the Danish Dynamite days and win the cup. The surprising rise (and fall) of Jeremy Lin, better known as Linsanity, follows up - a very cool story about the opportunities of an outsider in the tough business of the NBA. Steven Bradbury took 3 votes for his incredibly lucky Olympic Shorttrack win in Salt Lake City, where he benefitted from DQs and crashes of his opponents in all his runs. 2 votes for my favourite before the round, Leicester City, and several ones. Most notably Thomas Diethart, the Skijumper who achieved a full 2 wins in his career. But those happened at the most important competition in Skijumping, making him the winner of the Vierschanzentournee before falling as fast as he rose. Notable mentions go to Michael Chang and the UMBC vs. Virginia upset in college basketball 2018, crashing all brackets before the tournament even begun.
Spoiler Greece EC 2004 | 5 | Linsanity | 4 | Steven Bradbury | 3 | Leicester City | 2 | Buster Douglas | 1 | Dave Lidell | 1 | Chris Matthews (Seahawks) | 1 | Michael Chang | 1 | Thomas Diethart | 1 | UMBC vs. Virginia 2018 | 1 | Jorge Masvidal vs Ben Askren | 1 |
He lost his lead! Cunego59 gets pushed down to second, as Ollfahrd overtakes him winning this round. While only missing at question 4 as the Kings let him down, he nailed pretty much every other question. cunego59 suffered for picking Simone Biles at Q1, otherwise did pretty well though. Marcovdw folloews in third after his second consecutive good round, scoring fantasticly exceot for Q5.
They have a bigger advantage to a middle of the pack that is quite large, P5 to P13 are just seperated by one Greek EC. Especially Scatmaster and Freitas surged up the field, whereas guys like kandesbunzler had some cool yet unsuccessful answers. Quasdas seemingly tries to sweep the 5's, or is he just that brilliant that he can't keep up with all the stupidity!?
I'm with stupid 2021: Croatia14's Round 3
Geopolitics!?
1. Name an island that is smaller than Iceland.
2. Name a crazy dictator that is still in office but not Kim-Jong Un.
3. Name a former Soviet Country that is neither Russia nor in conflict with it.
4. Name a mountain you can't climb that is neither Mount Everest nor K2.
5. Name an African country that is more developed than one would expect.
PM me your answers until 10PM daily time on Friday, February 19th. |

EXCUSE ME SIR, but Tampa Bay is DEFINITELY world champion material. Doubt an Am. Football team anywhere else would beat them, WORLD CHAMPS! Same for LA Dodgers, although other baseball teams might be more competitive than any football team against TB
Otherwise, I pretty much hit the best answers for other questions!

Any baseball competition that does not include Cuba, Japan, or Mexico, cannot call itself a 'world championship'

Fair, and to correct myself, I'm not sure that the MLB Champs really declare themselves world champions? I know for sure they do in NFL though.

True, but even though the teams are all based in North America, most of the best players from Asia and Latin America end up playing in the MLB anyway.
