Wasn't that the whole point, that he got in contact with doping, tried it once, then decided he'd rather quit than get in to that?

I obviously meant not somebody who is more famous for his cleanliness rather than actual results |

Lhotellerie, Taillefer, Di Gregorio, Houanard and Georges off the top of my head. |

Bernaudeau has a year to find the main sponsor, Europcar will pull out after 2015 season.
( considering AG2R released their figures recently, making close to 100million income from the cycling team at only 10million involvement surely some French company will want to give it a try )
I am not so sure. Europcar has not enough stars to attract a big sponsor.
Honestly, I think that either the team will dissolve, either Bernadeau will find a sponsor of a smaller caliber, enough to keep a team in Pro Conti.

Fedrigo won the KOM jersey at the TDF.
Or to use the most obvious example, Marco Pinotti. 9th in the superb 2010 Giro and with 2 Giro stage wins in his career, as well as a host of smaller things.

Explain. Because most of the "experts" on this site who have exposed a lot of people see him as clean. In fact, I haven't seen one who doesn't yet.

Honestly? I don't think any rider who won a GT is clean. No Lemond, no Froome, no Wiggins, no Nibali. Hell i don't even think Cav, Greipel, Kittel, Tony martin and Voigt are/were clean.

OK then. But those guys are all recent, and Lemond won his GTs before the EPO era. But hey, who knows. I gotcha.

It's a bit difficult for me to explain. Let me try.
Some riders have taken performance enhancing stuff, when it was not on the doping list. Maybe Lemond was one of those riders. Iirc Merckx took Cortison, which came up on the Doping stuff list after he used it.
The part i marked in your quote is the one which is maybe the only right answer. If he was clean, you can't proof it, if he wasn't you can't either. But the major thing i think is, that that whole Doping discussion on the world destroys the sport itself.
Thats what i'm concerned about. Ofc there is a lot of doping in Cycling, but that is in every other sport a swell. But everyone is focusing on cycling. Why, you may ask. Because of money. Newspapers with a clichée approved on the main page, does sell better than any other story. Because everyone can feel like an expert and say: "I knew it!"
And how much does doping improve your performance?
If I, sitting in front of my PC right now, would take every kind of stuff which is performance enhancing, and you would sit me on a bike and you would tell me that the Tour de France starts today and i have to compete. Do you think that I could win? Obviously not. Doping doesn't make a world-beater out of nothing. You have to be top-notch to win, before you take some stuff.
We had a runner in our runners club(obvious).
He is around 50-55 now.
He ran from somewhere in Danmark down to Gibraltar(Spain in 64 Stages), with a daily minimum of around 45kms and a maximum of around 83kms...constantly getting faster and with no rest day. He lives in Norway(born in germany) and thought: "I live near the Nordkap...the race starts in Danmark...i had not trained for this event yet...Maybe i should start 2 weeks earlier and run to the start."
Funnily he won the race afterwards...
And i think to myself...if THATS possible without taking anything performance enhancing(i know him good enough to say so.)...just energy gel and coffein, then a cyclist should be able to ride the TdF...without taking something.
I just hope that the media doesn't try to destroy my(and your) favourite sport because of profit.

You have the point, I think.
Cyclists that train hard all year long can compete in a such a long and difficult stage race without the use of EPO, but if everyone does it, they can't win without using it.

The idea of 25 years was to skip Lemond actually since then it was possible to win the Tour clean as your opponents also were
@CountArach: I know you can get a KOM jerseyin the Tour or a top10 in Giro or Vuelta if you're clean and very tallented BUT you can't become a top rider what remains for a legend in cycling. That's why I am so fed up with the pointless accusations of the big guns. Why do people hate Lance? He doped and was stornger than the others who also doped. He pretty much said it: How could he beat a doped Ulrich and a doped Basso, exept of doping himself. And believe me he was more talented than those two and would have won if the peleton was cleaner

Yes that's a better reason than he's a dopehead. I don't like him and Froome for the same reason. |

Froome? First off, i hated Froome for being a dopehead, but then i saw, that this is not a criteria in cycling Since then i like him...mostly because of his Vuelta performance. Why do you think he is an ass? Armstrong obviously is, no doubt. But Froome?
