What a shame. Waste of young talent.
Not a surprise he was hanging with the best on the early mountains anymore after reading this. It's like a less obvious Santambrogio case.

another cyclist with asthma
Salbutamol (INN) or albuterol (USAN) is a short-acting β2-adrenergic receptor agonist used for the relief of bronchospasm in conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.[2] It is marketed as Ventolin among other brand names.

Sometimes I'm thinking asthma is in many cases an excuse for riders to dope...

Well, people on CN called me stupid when I said he's taking a bit bigger dose of vein-shots (dope) than others. Prick.
I don't know why you people are even surprised by these kind of news. It clearly became a normal thing in modern cycling.

Maybe
I bet most of other sports would have the same kind of news... if they were controlled as much as cycling, though. |

Yeah it appears that way. However, I don't know much about asthma, but cyclists & athletes in general dig a lot deeper & exhaust themselves much more when they sport than normal people, so I think it's logical for them to have breathing problems or develop asthma in certain situations?

So if he took 2 Puffs of an inhaler as he supposedly did (and was allowed to by the UCI) he would have had 100 ng/ml but his values were at 1900
It can apparently be taken intravenously so I'm guessing that's what happened here, and was probably used to mask something else since it is apparently comparable to clenbuterol.

He obviously mistook 2 puffs of the inhaler for 20 instead, its an easy mistake to make IMO

According to the small amount of research I've done, even excessive abuse of an inhaler would be hard for him to go over 1000 which is the limit for WADA I believe.

Thats a different unit measurement. ng/ml is what I was using, just as in the cycling news article and on the Twitter picture, as well as what I read on wikipedia.

If 1900 is the max and he has 1600, then he is 300 over the limit. A package of the medicine itself teaches me that a dose consists of 100. 1600+100+100 is 1800. The last 100 should be inexplicable then.
Spoiler I hope I haven't made mistakes with measurements here

Okay got it, the limit used to be 1000 but was changed in 2011 to 1600. Two puffs from an inhaler is approximately 150-200. The daily limit for an inhaler is 8 puffs or something around there, so he shouldn't be getting anywhere over 1600 in a 24 hour period if he is even taking 3 or 4 more puffs than allowed from his inhaler.
However this is all irrelevant because it says he is only allowed 2 puffs for his inhaler so his values as far as I know should be around 200-300 if his method truly was through inhalation.
1900 is basically 20 puffs and it just wouldn't make sense, because the effects really wouldn't be noticed at all after about 4 or 5 puffs.

As I understand it, 1000 is the limit and he measured 1900. 2 doses = 100, so 18 doses over the limit. I might be mistaken though. |

Nope, 1 dose is 100, so he is 'just' 7 over the limit
