Strong rumours of Belkin taking over Blanco. However being American, they would expect more international team than Blanco is at the moment.
Telegraff also reported today that Boom is wanted by Team Sky.
Slagter is also wanted by Orica.

Not enough good American riders for all those US/US-sponsored teams
BMC, Garmin, Cannondale, RadioShack - and now probably Belkin too. Plus, there's a few US Pro Cont teams too - and a gazillion Cont ones. |

How can Rabobank not have a Dutch sponsor?
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy

No way. I hope that transfer never happens.

Well it's no Rabobank any more.
It felt the same when T-Mobile (former Deutsche Telekom) became HTC-Columbia. |

To be fair of those only RadioShack stands to gain from a domestic American market. The others are either global or aimed at cycling fans around the world.

Radioshack is probably quitting. Trek also aims to sell bikes all around the world

Debetable.
At Blanco, he has Vanmarcke above him. At Sky he wouldn't. And Sky is a team that would improve him as a rider imo. We'll see though, I think it's clear enough that Sky will try to get at least one classic rider this season.

Thomas could probably do it already if he wants to go that way. The team just have to realise that EBH isn't right for that sort of racing. But I agree with you (for once), as I think Boom could really get a lot of opportunities at Sky that he wouldn't get elsewhere (see, I can play nice )

This is a bit weird because between Gerrans and Albasini they already have a couple of good puncheurs. They really, really just need someone for GC and Slagter is not going to provide that.

Well they were rumoured to be going for Uran, but looks like OPQS won battle for him.
They were also trying to get Porte until well, he signed his extension with Sky.
Ulissi is the other name mentioned with Orica, however he's as well more of a puncheur rather than GT rider.
Indeed, GT rider + getting Caleb Ewan abroad the team, who I expect will be very well sough after would the the transfer goals this season for them.

He definitely has a lot of potential in the Mountains and he is showing more every year. Last year he was 21st in the Giro, then you can add in these performances this year:
https://www.cqrank...ceid=24171
https://www.cqrank...ceid=24087
https://www.cqrank...ceid=24089
https://www.cqrank...ceid=23931
He certainly is getting better on longer climbs while still keeping his punch in the hills. I suspect that by next year he will be quite a solid climber and might even be capable of a top 10 in a GT (particularly something like the Vuelta where his ability on the hills comes into play and there are fewer TT kilometres).

As I've said here before I think that Caleb Ewan may well stay on the track until the next Olympics. Of course he might do something like what other Australian riders have done recently, which is to ride road in the between years, then switch back to track for a while.

Rick Zabel is apparently close to signing with BMC.

Not quite the team I like to see him the most in. Still, a pro contract is a pro contract.
Pro:
-no big sprinter
-money
Contra:
-no big sprinter
-it's BMC

Not sure if this is a smart move for him.
But on the other hand as German talent it`s not that easy to find a PT team these days without a German PT team.
But it depends how much BMC is aiming on the sprints as he could get some freedom of course.
Edit: Zabel`ed for a Zabel post...

Though what he needs is not so much freedom but more gaining experience and learning from others, and there's hardly a WT team that can offer this less than BMC, sprinting-wise.

It also depends, if BMC will snatch Sagan in the future, as they were said to be trying to gain his services.

Yeah, it's not easy for a German talent to choose a good PT team, I guess.

This is what I mean. He gets some freedom, which is not bad, but then again in this age it would be better to get that freedom in small "shit races" (Cavendish) and get some experience by a more experienced sprinter, which BMC does not have atm. |
