Well, I guess everyone is happy, he's a great rider and deserves this win a lot!
Tomorrow we'll probably see another Lotto-train-dominance!
I'm not sure about that, the stage seems realy hilly
https://www.cyclingnews.com/races/sant...13/stage-3
Hmm... I think it's not hilly enough to stop Greipel...

Greipel has basically never done well on this stage in the past, and this year it's much harder than in previous editions. |

They always race well in Down Under. 4 years running now.
The race itself is always mildly important due to this ( every little helps in classics )
“The race is a building block but if we can get some results and WorldTour points here that would be great. For the team as defending WorldTour winners, and also for the convoy – as the amount of points dictates how far up the line your team car is in the WorldTour races. That’s especially important heading into the Classics.”
Julian Kern really didn't have the best day yesterday... ouch.

Tiago Machado did good today. I think he is now one of the main favorites to win Santos Tour Down Under 2013!
If we check the Daily's bet section:
1 - Gerrans, 2'24 behind
2 - Gilbert, 2'56
3 - Boasson Hagen, 1'09
4 - S. Clarke, 1'28
5 - T. Machado, 14 seconds!
6 - R. Dennis, out for illness
7 - N. Haas, 7'52
8 - G. Visconti, 3'31
9 - P. Velits, 1'19
10 - De Gendt, 2'44
11 - M. Lloyd, 8'28
He wrote on his facebook:
"Today i couldn't arrive with the same time from winner! I lost about 4s to the 3 men group who arrived alone, between them one of my team mates! My legs were feeling fine, but i couldn't pursuit a team mate, as you can figure we're on the fight and that is what matters!!!" |

Only just saw it now, Thomas owned everyone! He flew over the corkscrew, I think he will have a great season |

He seems to be alright. Already posted on facebook that he is fine. Just looking a bit like Frankenstein now.

Ironically I haven't seen any of the race because I've been at Uni but it is great to see Thomas winning! (See Alakagom I can compliment Sky riders ). Hopefully he will be on form through the classics.

That was a pretty damn good win by Slagter, with a good lead out from David Tanner of all people. Shame Machado's legs gave out with a kilometer to go though.

What a race. Was not expecting Slagter to win. Brilliant final 10kms. For a minute there I thought Machado would win.

The Dutch Blanco duo is really set for a great future.
Slagter proved he likes the steep stuff in Assisi last Giro, and that was a good acceleration today.
Though just as Von Hoff in stage 1, the rider right in his wheel dropped out, leaving Gilbert and Goss with a gap too large to close completely.
Greipel in contention until 2k to go, I doubt you could ask for more the way the last 30k were ridden.

It was flat, but it did have that hill Mont Saint-Clair less than 20 kms before the finish. Just 1.6 kms long but enough to be categorized as a Cat 3 climb thanks to its steepness (10.6% average)
