The suspense is killing me!
You'll have to be killed for one more day, I'm afraid
The TT stage is bugged. It crashes because of three sprints along the course, as the game can only handle two.
I'm trying to get hold of an updated stage, or get a new one, as lluuiiggii said he might re-do it.
If a stage doesn't show up tomorrow, I'll just switch the Albi stage with another, hopefully similar time trial. Anyway, the story WILL continue tomorrow
cannot wait! tomorrow the tour will commence!

Too bad it's bugged. Can't wait for TT, though, I hope you'll be able to race it properly.

Stage 13 [IMG-r]https://i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/tour07/profil13.gif[/IMG-r]
Albi - Albi
54 km
Saturay 21 July
The stage 13 terrain reflected the likely varying fortunes of the contenders today: Up and down, over what could turn out to be a punishing afternoon of cycling through the Tarn countryside.
The first individual time trial of the 2007 Tour de France was only 54 kilometres out of a grand total of 3569, but as time trials tend to do, it was going to have a disproportionate impact on the final outcome.
At least that was what Germany's Andreas Klöden was [IMG-r]https://i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/tour07/kloden-1.jpg[/IMG-r]hoping, because despite a race that hasn't exactly gone to plan so far, he was the man most likely to profit. In London, he looked like taking the prologue win until Cancellara's fabulous ride relegated him to 2nd. Things have been a bit rockier since, with time losses in the Alps. But let's not forget that it was Klöden's time trial prowess that propelled him to 3rd in last year's Tour and 2nd in 2004.
The rain clouds hung heavy over Albi this morning, but it was still dry as Bradley Wiggins (Cofidis) set off. The Briton came through with the early best time, and it looked like a good one.
Bradley Wiggins (Cofidis) in his favourite discipline.
The World champion Fabian Cancellara (Team CSC) is also one who has found the Alps a bit demanding. He was therefore also an early starter. He didn't have a particularly good day though, and finished behind Wiggins, with a provisional 2nd place.
The World time trial champion was not on his best day in Albi.
Having held off challenges from Paolo Savoldelli (Astana), George Hincapie (Discovery) and Spanish time trial champion José Iván Gutiérrez (Caisse d'Epargne), Bradley Wiggins was still sitting pretty at the top of the leaderboard as his compatriot David Millar (Saunier Duval) set off.
The rain started as Britain's David Millar (Saunier Duval) was on the course.
During David Millar's ride, the clouds opened up. It looked like it was going to be a difficult day for the overall contenders. Millar came home in a provisional 4th, 1'11 behind Wiggins. He said this after his ride:
"Oh, man, it's so dangerous. I had good fun out there, but the conditions are absolutely treacherous. Especially when you're on your time trial equipment, everything is much stiffer. The safest thing to do is to take it easy, that's what I'm going to recommend to Mayo anyway."
The rain continued as more and more riders finished their time trial. Discovery's Levi Leipheimer managed to dislodge Wiggins from the top spot. Eventually, the time came for Andreas Klöden to start.
Andreas Klöden (Astana) cutting through the rain.
The German got into his time trial position and stormed through the wet course. New best time for the Astana man, 36 seconds quicker than Levi Leipheimer (Discovery)!
There had been a lot of speculation about how Alejandro Valverde (Caisse d'Epargne) would perform in this time trial. With a good ride, he could emerge as a strong candidate for victory in Paris.
Alejandro Valverde (Caisse d'Epargne) not happy with the rain.
The big Spanish hope wasn't able to put in a great performance. By the time he finished, Valverde was 8th, 1'50 behind Klöden, and sure to drop further down the list as more big guns finished. He was far from being the worst Spanish climber though, as Iban Mayo (Saunier Duval) finished way down the list. Mayo was even caught by Valverde on the road.
In contrast to the Spaniards, Australia's Cadel Evans (Predictor - Lotto) proved to have some serious firepower!
Was he the winner? Cadel Evans (Predictor - Lotto) with a stunning ride!
Evans absolutely drilled it on the hilly course, and his time at the finish was 45 seconds faster than Klöden's! What a performance!
But the Predictor - Lotto captain was aware that someone else was obliterating his split times out on the course...
Nothing was slowing down the charge of Alexandre Vinokourov (Astana)!
The Kazakh race favourite finally showed why he's tipped for glory in Paris. After flying through the time checks, he slaughtered Cadel Evans' finishing time by more than a minute! He certainly had the stage win in the bag. Would he also take the yellow jersey?
The former wearer of the yellow jersey, Sylvain Chavanel (Cofidis) did a great ride, getting 5th place in the end. Fränk Schleck (Team CSC), 3rd placed this morning, put himself out of contention with a horrible ride, while his teammate Carlos Sastre managed to stay in contention with a decent time trial.
One man who was certain to lose time today, was Denmark's anti-time trial specialist Michael Rasmussen (Rabobank), sitting in 2nd before the stage.
But Rasmussen shocked everyone with his ride, and even caught Fränk Schleck (Team CSC), who started two minutes in front of him!
In 2005, his time trial was shocking because he crashed twice and finished 8 minutes behind the winner. Today, he was shockingly good! Rasmussen rode the time trial of his life to keep himself in the top end of the general classification, and to finish 7th on the day.
Then there was only the yellow jersey left. Alberto Contador (Discovery) certainly prefers the mountains, but he can ride time trials as well, as he proved beyond doubt today!
The yellow jersey helped Alberto Contador (Discovery) do his best time trial ever!
This was a day of super performances, and Contador's was right up there with the best, finishing in 4th place. However, he lost two minutes to Vinokourov, and has to give up his yellow jersey to the Kazakh. Vinokourov gets to wear it for the first time in his career!
Today's time trial gave several answers, and sets the scene perfectly for the Pyrenées. The mountain goats now have to go out on the attack, but the strength of Astana, with Klöden somewhat back in it again, looks formidable. The Kazakhs also had Andrey Kashechkin do a decent ride.
The big losers of the day are Alejandro Valverde, Iban Mayo and Fränk Schleck, while the biggest winner is definitely Alexandre Vinokourov. Another happy man should be Alberto Contador, who despite losing the jersey, is in with a chance if he goes well in the Pyrenées.

Spoiler
The course was too hilly for the German time trial champion Bert Grabsch (T-Mobile).
The French champion Benoit Vaugrenard (Française des Jeux) spent the early days of the Tour in the white jersey after his great prologue. Today he wasn't as good, losing almost six minutes to Vinokourov.
Fabian Cancellara (Team CSC) will be disappointed with his performance.
Oscar Pereiro (Caisse d'Epargne) has been carrying an injury for the last few stages, but today he seemed all right. That's a good thing for his captain Valverde, who needs all the help he can get after today.
Spanish time trial champion José Iván Gutiérrez (Caisse d'Epargne) struggled in the rain, and could only manage 24th place.
Discovery have plenty of good time trialists. One of them is George Hincapie, who was 20th on the stage.
The young Russian Vladimir Gusev (Discovery) is the champion of his country, but he was a little bit off the mark in Albi, finishing 28th.
The large figure of Vladimir Karpets (Caisse d'Epargne). The big Russian has been disappointing so far in the Tour de France, and hasn't carried his form from the Tour de Suisse, which he won in June. Karpets was 16th today.
David Zabriskie (Team CSC) is a strong time trial specialist, but struggled with the wet roads, as he only finished 19th.
Denis Menchov (Rabobank) has had a tough Tour de France, which didn't get any better today.
The former triple World time trial champion Michael Rogers (T-Mobile).
By the time Levi Leipheimer (Discovery) finished, he had the best time. It held up for a 6th place in the end.
Andreas Klöden (Astana) accelerating towards his 3rd place finish. The German had probably hoped to gain more time on his rivals though.
Bernhard Kohl (Gerolsteiner), who has the white jersey on loan from Contador, sees T-Mobile's Kim Kirchen ride past him. Kirchen did really well finishing 8th today, and is T-Mobile's best bet for a good overall placing.
Alejandro Valverde (Caisse d'Epargne) may have lost the Tour de France with his poor time trial today. He has work to do on his time trial bike.
Iban Mayo (Saunier Duval) in non-matching polkadot skinsuit and cold clothing. He needs to go ballistic in the Pyrenées if he wants a good result in the GC, because his time trialing is horrendous. Maybe he'll focus on the King of the Mountains title?
Cadel Evans (Predictor - Lotto) emerged as serious challenger to Vinokourov today. But Evans still needs to gain time in the mountains if he wants to win the Tour, and he doesn't attack much.
He's had the yellow jersey for three days, and Sylvain Chavanel (Cofidis) is still close to it after a brilliant 5th today.
Carlos Sastre (Team CSC) is waiting for the mountains, but wasn't too shabby against the clock for his standards.
Alexandre Vinokourov (Astana) took a dominant win in the time trial in Albi.
Who would have expected Michael Rasmussen (Rabobank) to finish in the top ten in a time trial?
The yellow jersey is finally on the shoulders of Alexandre Vinokourov (Astana)!

Vino pretty dominant here. The others have to attack hard to gain time now. Oh, and also, what a Tour from Chavanel!

Who knows what Rogers, Klöden and Vino could've done had they not crashed?
@Freitas: I agree on Chavanel! I don't expect him to go all Voeckler in the Pyrenées though

Pyrenées preview
Sunday 22 July
Before the final time trial gives Alexandre Vinokourov (Astana) a chance to pour more misery upon the Tour ambitions of the other riders, we have three mighty days in the French-Spanish Pyrenées ahead of us to shake things up.
A mountain top finish at Plateau de Beille is up first, then a long trek across several high mountains that finishes in Loudenvielle, before the riders get a long-awaited rest day in Pau. On Wednesday is the great Pyrenean finale, the climb up to Col d'Aubisque.
This is how it stands going into the mountains:

Alexandre Vinokourov finally got hold of the yellow [IMG-r]https://i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/tour07/vino13.jpg[/IMG-r]jersey yesterday, and the pre-race favourite has no intentions of letting it go. So who can take it from him?
Seeing as nobody can realistically expect to take time from Vinokourov in the final time trial, any potential non-Kazakh winner of the 2007 Tour de France will have to come from the climber category.
Will we see more of this?
So far in the race, the strongest climber has been Iban Mayo (Saunier Duval), who also has the polkadot jersey. But Mayo suddenly finds himself a long way down after yesterday's time trial, and can expect more of the same on the penultimate stage. He does however have a polkadot jersey to defend, and more stage wins are within his grasp, so we can certainly expect to see him at the front of the race in the coming days. Mayo will probably not make the podium in Paris though.
Despite Cadel Evans ' brilliant time trial yesterday, his[IMG-r]https://i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/tour07/evans13.jpg[/IMG-r] past results put him well in the climbers category. If he can reproduce his Albi time trial when we come to the penultimate stage, and do his usual stuff in the mountains, the Predictor - Lotto rider is a shoe-in for the podium. However, he'll have to go out on the attack to dislodge Vinokourov from the top spot, and we haven't seen Evans able to do that in the past.
Then there are the pure climbers like Carlos Sastre , Michael Rasmussen and, we must say after the time trial yesterday, Alejandro Valverde . All are likely to be in their element on the mountain top finishes, but with Vinokourov's strong Astana team to control things, they'll have a hard time putting enough time into the race leader.
I think the strongest challenge is likely to come from[IMG-r]https://i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/tour07/conta13.png[/IMG-r] Alberto Contador of Discovery Channel. The young Spaniard can time trial, and is explosive on the climbs. He beat Vinokourov on the climb to Tignes on stage 8, and will try to do the same up to Plateau de Beille and Col d'Aubisque. He has also got the support of the strong Discovery team, now that Levi Leipheimer is out of overall contention.
All these speculations are of course based on the assumption that Vinokourov can be beaten in the mountains. But neither the form guide, nor his impressive last week in the Vuelta last year suggests that it is possible to gain any time at all on the race leader when the road tilts upwards. Did he just win the Tour in Albi yesterday?

The time trial has really shakened up the GC. Vino seems really strong, he'll be tough to beat now with still more 55 kms of TT to come. Let's hope that'll make the climbers go crazy in the Pyrenees (nice preview, btw, but if you click the first picture you're redirected to the TT profile )

Don't know why but I hate Vino. Valverde is beast, but couldn't fit him in ahead of Iban Mayonaisse.

What a stage! I think Vino should be able to hold on now until the end but this is cycling so anything can happen.

Stage 14 [IMG-r]https://i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac43/christian_gr/tour07/profil14.gif[/IMG-r]
Mazamet - Plateau-de-Beille
197 km
Sunday 22 July
The good weather was back for the first of three big Pyrenean days. Today's stage headed south from Mazamet, the hometown of Laurent Jalabert, towards the steep 17 kilometres of the hors catégorie Port de Pailhères and then the final ascent that finished atop the stiff 16-kilometre hors catégorie Plateau de Beille.
Coming the day after the tough stage 13 time trial, and with two steep hors catégorie climbs in the final 65 kilometres, stage 14 would definitively separate the pretenders from the contenders for the win in the 2007 Tour de France.
Some optimistic attacks were launched on the Port de Pailhères, but nothing that bothered race leader Alexandre Vinokourov (Astana) much.
Juan José Cobo (Saunier Duval) and the ever-aggressive Jérôme Pineau (Bouygues Télécom) formed today's breakaway. Behind them came a chasegroup containing Michael Rogers (T-Mobile), David Arroyo (Caisse d'Epargne), Tadej Valjavec (Lampre) and a Colombian rider, Juan Mauricio Soler of Barloworld, who has been riding well to stay 15th overall until now.
Where does he get the motivation from? Jérôme Pineau (Bouygues Télécom) in another breakaway move, together with Juan José Cobo (Saunier Duval).
Pineau disappeared from the picture already on the Port de Pailhères. The fifty men strong peloton crossed the summit four minutes behind Cobo, who was now the lone leader. The Rogers chasegroup was brought back at the foot of the climb to Plateau de Beille. With Cobo 2 minutes ahead, it was all set for fireworks. And as expected: Bang!
The race exploded when Michael Rasmussen (Rabobank) and Carlos Sastre (Team CSC) took off!
Rasmussen was still well up there in the overall classification, and made his intentions clear as soon as the favourites began the climb. Alexandre Vinokourov was now officially under attack!
The action in the peloton spelled the end for Cobo's breakaway attempt. Vinokourov's luxury domestique Andreas Klöden managed to pace the yellow jersey back up to Rasmussen and Sastre.
Round One was won by Astana.
The front group was now drastically thinning out. The man sitting 5th overall before the stage, Sylvain Chavanel (Cofidis), was among the casualties. As the group continued to climb, Juan Mauricio Soler (Barloworld) put in a little dig. He didn't get far, but the young Colombian was really impressive, having been in a breakaway earlier.
The serious attacks started again with five kilometres remaining to the top: Alberto Contador (Discovery) got away with a furious acceleration!
Down to serious business: Discovery's young Spanish climber attacks!
Just like on the climb to Tignes on stage 8, Contador couldn't follow up on his initial burst of speed, but his attack caused a serious selection among the big names! As five riders, including Vinokourov, made their way up to the young Spaniard, one important name was missing: Cadel Evans.
His 2nd place in the GC was in grave danger, as Cadel Evans (Predictor - Lotto) suffered on the climb. Andreas Klöden (Astana) was also in trouble.
The lead group of six riders opened up a big gap on the rest of the race! The riders on the front were the yellow jersey, Alexandre Vinokourov (Astana), Alberto Contador (Discovery) in the white jersey and the climbers Carlos Sastre (Team CSC), Alejandro Valverde (Caisse d'Epargne), Michael Rasmussen (Rabobank) and Juan Mauricio Soler (Barloworld).
Concentrated faces in the front group: Vinokourov, Contador, Sastre, Valverde, Rasmussen and Soler.
Alexandre Vinokourov proved a tough nut to crack on the climb, but Rasmussen and Contador didn't give up. Just before the red kite, signalling the last kilometre, they put the yellow jersey under pressure again. This time they managed to get rid of him!
Alberto Contador (Discovery) and Michael Rasmussen (Rabobank) riding away near the summit of Plateau de Beille.
Being that close to the finish, the two climbers could only do minimal damage. Michael Rasmussen really wanted the stage win, and left Alberto Contador on the run-in! The yellow jersey was not too far behind, accompanied by Carlos Sastre (Team CSC).
Michael Rasmussen (Rabobank) heading towards his annual mountain top victory in the Tour de France!
Just like on Mulhouse in 2005, and La Toussuire last year, the Danish 'Chicken' takes the win on top of a climb! With 20 bonus seconds, he also edges closer to Vinokourov's yellow jersey, but the Kazakh rode brilliantly to defend it today. Vino's main challenger, Discovery's Alberto Contador, came 2nd on the stage but didn't gain much time.
Rasmussen celebrating on the top of Plateau de Beille!
Alejandro Valverde (Caisse d'Epargne) lost out a bit in the end, finishing 5th. He was just ahead of Juan Mauricio Soler (Barloworld), who made his definite breakthrough today. The unknown Colombian proved he could climb with the best!
Cadel Evans (Predictor - Lotto) has probably eliminated himself as a contender for the win with his ride today. The Australian lost almost three minutes to Vinokourov, so his assault on the yellow jersey seems all but over.

The mighty Astana machine on the front for their race leader Alexandre Vinokourov.
Four riders, Juan Mauricio Soler (Barloworld), Tadej Valjavec (Lampre), Michael Rogers (T-Mobile) and David Arroyo (Caisse d'Epargne), tried to bridge up to the leader Juan José Cobo (Saunier Duval) on the Port de Pailhères, but were unsuccessful.
The race winding its way towards the top of the HC climb Port de Pailhères.
The lone leader Juan José Cobo (Saunier Duval) cresting the summit of Port de Pailhères. The Spanish rider was 23rd overall before the stage, but his attack didn't work out.
Arroyo, Rogers, Soler & Valjavec going over the top during their futile breakaway attempt.
The attacks started early on the final climb, as Michael Rasmussen (Rabobank) and Carlos Sastre (Team CSC) fancied their chances.
The climb up to Plateau de Beille was really hard, with many riders unable to keep up with the best.
Cobo's brave escape came to an end when Rasmussen reached him. Cobo eventually finished 26th on the stage.
Sylvain Chavanel (Cofidis) has become quite a national hero after his exploits earlier in this Tour, but the Frenchman found the Pyrenées a bit too demanding.
Ride of the day must surely be awarded to Barloworld's Colombian climber Juan Mauricio Soler. The 24-year old still had strength left for an attack on the final climb after having been in the breakaway, and hung on for 6th place in the end.
Alberto Contador (Discovery) leading the front six on their way up to Plateau de Beille.
The tough final climb cracked several contenders, including French champion Christophe Moreau (Ag2r). The most prominent loser though was Cadel Evans (Predictor - Lotto), 2nd overall before the stage.
Iban Mayo (Saunier Duval) couldn't replicate his great climbing form from last week in the Alps, but he kept his King of the Mountains jersey through the first day in the Pyrenées.
Alejandro Valverde (Caisse d'Epargne) and Juan Mauricio Soler (Barloworld) had to let go of the front group within the final two kilometres.
Alberto Contador (Discovery) and Michael Rasmussen (Rabobank) were once again the strongest climbers.
A good crowd was out to cheer on the riders atop the Plateau de Beille.
Alexandre Vinokourov (Astana) limiting his losses.
Victory for Denmark's Michael Rasmussen!
Carlos Sastre (Team CSC) clinged on to the race leader's back wheel in the closing metres.
Contador lost out on both the stage win and the yellow jersey today. He will be hoping to put more time into Vinokourov in the coming days.
Alejandro Valverde (Caisse d'Epargne) didn't quite have it today. His chances for the podium are slimming down.

Awesome report Squire. I love that the others are attacking Vino, and seeing Contador excel is great. He's my new rider I'm going for after stupid Cadel lost so much time.
Very well done Squire. Oh and brilliant screens, I love this one especially!
