Weird finish. The favourite teams made the pace all day and then it was not hard enough for them and the smaller favourites take the stage like Meersman, Bole etc.
Maybe Movistar should have gone for Rojas then. |

Damn, I really thought this was another Valverde climb. A bit too easy for him I think. Also his position loss in one of the last turns threw him too far back. Costed me some PCM$.
But great win for Meersman!

Last few hundred metres really levelled out. I'd agree that Rojas would've been a better bet, though hindsight is a wonderful thing.

If i ain't mistaking, Valverde was forced the left side of those traffic things inside the last km, making him lose his spot at the front.

Yeah, I though it was ~7% all the way to the finish, but it wasn't, and definitely it was better for Rojas, even in case Piti wouldn't had lost his place in the front with about 500m to the finish.

Really, nobody believed in Meersman on the site Betting? Not even one?
Nice win for him. I believed the finish would be harder but it wasn't. But tomorrow it'll get fun for real

Tomorrow is when this race will really begin, it's the main test before Col d'Eze and riders like Valverde will really want to gain some time over people who might struggle like Wiggins.
It's been a fun race so far though. From a British perspective it's been great. The organisers have really found some nice finishes that give a bit of fun, but aren't too hard.
