Thrilling finish in San Remo, which made up for a quite boring race beforehand. Thanks for a great report Shonak, they really are a joy to read.
After seeing that there basically was no selection at all, I'm actually pretty happy that we didn't get a wildcard

Great report Shonak, a thrilling read even with no Tinkoff guys being involved in the finale.
Top 5 medium goal that went well

I was going to say that Adrien's love for 4th place was getting mildly frustrating after the TA stage but I didn't have long to worry. Superb ride from him in San Remo to get us our hard goal.
Definitely worth signing him now. But please, Adrien, stop finishing 4th. That's Rojas' job and you know it.
Great reports by everyone involved too, even though I'd rather Paris - Nice hadn't happened today.

Very disappointed with Heino, he has all the right stats so unlucky, though the startlist was stacked. Lovely report Shonak!
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

I'd already raced this stage, but I really hope I can get some help with the file.
Volta ao Algarve
The Profile
A long-ish time trial will act as the springboard for riders contesting the GC in this race. A good result here will put the favourites in good stead for their overall battle.
The first rider to go is Eldridge from Novo-Nordisk. He sets a time of 51'10.
Bardiani's Marco Coledan sets what seems to be the first good time, with 50'05.
Fan favourite Marc de Maar is off that time by just 3 seconds.
Iker Camano beats Coledan's time by 21" to give NetApp the lead for now.
Gorka Nieve is 44" behind.
Then Al Mohney finishes in provisional 3rd at 13 seconds.
Straight after him Pablo Lastras steams over the line 30 seconds ahead of Camano. He's quickly taken over by Mads Christensen who beats that time by 1'01!
Lars Grawunder is one of the favourites for today. He finishes first by 27".
Jerome Coppel gets second at 13", almost catching Naveed Alinejad, who finishes 88th by the way. The weather has taken a turn for the worse, as some ominous clouds begin to move in.
Kim Po-Ding is first by just 1 second at the time check. The weather is much worse now.
Kim finishes 10 seconds ahead of his teammate Grawunder to take first.
Rui Costa finishes equal 1st at the time check but beats Kim by 35" at the finish, with Frederik Kessiakoff in between, 24" behind Costa.
If it wasn't a given, Sam Bennett loses the white jersey by coming 75th.
Kris Boeckmans obviously loses yellow as well. He finishes 87th.
Winning the stage, Rui Costa will take the Yellow Jersey. Behind him, out of the favourites, only Kim will be happy with how he's done today. And I doubt he'll be too pleased.

I know. The stage was already played, plus I don't think there are boni seconds for Time Trials

Instead of setting the big climbs in the end of the stage, this race has proven to provoke many teams and now we must see who enters the mountains with most ideas and leaves with the best result. The KoM will not be decided today, but there still is 35 points on the venue, but some sprinters may survive the climbs in the end, but I doubt they will have much energy for even sprinting!
The final is also not quite flat with two small hills, giving the favorites to the GC some terrain to advance in, but it will be hard to control the breakaway and it all depends on which team has the most energy for keeping the break at arms length. Peter Sagan will stuggle a little today, so my best bet is a win to Mollema, Martin or Valverde.
The Race
Todays break is represented with the following riders : J.Bérard (ALM), C.Muriel (COL), M.Monfort (TFR), R.Hardy (COF) and J.Roy (FDJ)
C. Muriel (COL) wins the first 10 points of the competition at the first category 1 climb!
Rider | Team | Points | Christian Muriel | Colombia | 10 pts | Maxime Monfort | Trek | 8 pts | Romain Hardy | Cofidis | 6 pts | Julien Bérard | AG2R | 4 pts | Jeremy Roy | FDJ.fr | 3 pts | Pierrick Fédrigo | FDJ.fr | 2 pts | Simon Geschke | Trek | 1 pts |
Confusion begins to strike the pack, when after the first climb the gap is already at 9 minutes, the following riders attack under this confusion! P.Fédrigo (FDJ), S.Geschke (TFR), J.Coppel (COF), J.Kern (TNE) successfully gets away from the pack.
Muriel is targeting the KoM jersey and gets 4 points, while Monfort gets 2 and Hardy 1 point.
C.Muriel (COL) takes the 10 points on the next Category 1 climb.
Rider | Team | Points | Christian Muriel | Colombia | 10 pts | Romain Hardy | Cofidis | 8 pts | Julien Bérard | AG2R | 6 pts | Maxime Monfort | Trek | 4 pts | Jeremy Roy | FDJ.fr | 3 pts | Pierrick Fédrigo | FDJ.fr | 2 pts | Julian Kern | Team Netapp | 1 pts |
C. Muriel (COL) is not done and takes 4 points, Hardy and Berard takes 2 and 1 point. Roy has dropped down to help Fedrigo, which have 2'10 up to the break and 3'30 down to the pack with 90 km left.
Carlo Calzone's race isn't over just yet and has pulled the pack all day together with Oroz and some from the Garmin team. 5 minutes from the pack to the lead breakaway with 70 km left.
C. Muriel (COL) completes his tally with 7 points on the last climb, it's all flat now!
Rider | Team | Points | Christian Muriel | Colombia | 7 pts | Julien Bérard | AG2R | 5 pts | Romain Hardy | Cofidis | 3 pts | Maxime Monfort | Trek | 2 pts | Pierrick Fedrigo | FDJ.fr | 1 pts |
Monfort get's dropped after this sprint and currently Hardy, Bérard and Muriel got a 3 minute lead to the pack with 33 km left!
Romain Hardy (COF) attacks with 17 km left and the breakaway still has a 3 minutes gap with 17 km left!
Meanwhile 4 GC riders attacks down in the pack, it's Valverde, D.Martin, Betancur and Mollema. Hardy's attack was quickly denied and the breakaway remains together.
Sagan, Kwiatkowski, Urán and Izagirre counters with 11 km left. T.Martin and P.Rolland followed them shortly after!
Bérard was empty and was forced to drop back, which means the stage will be decided between Muriel and Hardy!
Current status
Peter Sagan is attacking for the GC lead, Mollema can't keep up with them!
Christian Muriel completes a perfect day getting 35/35 points in the KoM competition and also takes the stage win, let's see who gets 3rd...
Valverde had most energy left and completely took away Sagan's yellow jersey attempt again! This means that Valverde leads the GC with 5 seconds down to Sagan, which had 3 up to Mollema before the stage.

Valverde? Did not see that coming. Well, as long as Mollema stays on the podium, it's still a great race for us.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

First victory for my custom riders, Muriel finally delivers! To take the KoM jersey as well is great. He showed what he could do in the WC RR last year with his acceleration so hopefully there is more to come on the last stage. |

Solid defence from Ion but especially the rest of the team keeping Landa in the top 10. Great to see - two riders in top 10 will definitely be considered a success.
