No comments on Liqui-fail? Setting the pace all the way up the mountain in pretty much all mountain stages so that Basso could manage a 5th place

Hilarious.
Henao and Uran in a GT rip Porte apart.
We'll see at the Tour about Porte.
Disagreed with Uran. He did nothing spectacular at this Giro. Followed favourite's wheel, never really attacked. Porte this season could have done the same and will be rewarded with Tour place.
About Nordhaug and Porte, meant most improved this season at Sky. No Nordhaug ? He beat Henao at Vais Pasco and was better until the crash at Amstel too ? I expected that type of performance from Henao, unlike Nordhaug and Porte.

Why is Taylor Phinny so low in the odds? If he wins i get more as 600 PCM$ (h) |

Just to be different, I'll say that I think Rodriguez pulls off the time trial of his life and hangs on to la Maglia Rosa.
Hesjedal will be very close, but De Gendt is too far back.

Recuperation. He suffered everyday while e.g. Larson didn't as much. Plus he is still unproven of how he will do in a TT after 20 tough stages.

Truth being said, what has Nordhaug done special in these big climbs?
EDIT: Ok, Col D'Ospedale, but that isn't the toughest of climbs out there.

Nothing spectacular? If you didn't notice Uran rode this Giro without any giornata nos or whatever Italians calls it. And you say it like riding in same pace as leading group in every crucial stage is just easy breezy. I strongly doubt that Richie would have achieved same result. |

Lampre also failed today, they did not even try to limit Scarponis damage and the only chance to finsih on the podium is to overtake Rodriguez.
Hesjedal has the best position to win the Giro now, i think de Gendt will be runner-up and Rodriguez third.
As for Ferrari, i just hope he won´t see Cavendish again. If he does, he´ll wake up in hospital.

To me he rode as expected, had few bad days and few better. He followed some of best climbers in the world but never looked likely to do anything major against them. It's no mean feat to do so and I am really pleased with how Uran performed here. But saying so I think Porte would have done similarly to him, yea. We'll see how Porte does at Tour, but I definitely think he would have done similarly to Uran at this Giro having closely followed him this season.
About Nordhaug, the longer climbs are uknown a bit, indeed. But he definitely is Sky most improved rider in the team this year. Compared him to last season he's a very different rider now.

The only fail there would be Basso (and Szmyd), who just didn't have it. His team played the tactic best suited to his strengths. At least they tried, right?

If Liquigas wouldn't have done the pace, nobody would have done so.

This.
There's no faulting Basso or RodrÃguez. Both played tactically to maximize their strengths and to minimize their weaknesses.
If you want to criticize, criticize Lampre, Sky and Garmin. Those were the idiots.

If Garmin win the Giro tomorrow, I hardly see how they failed.

Name one time he tried to solo for more than just a few short kms.

I know. It's kinda obvious. It still doesn't stop Nordhaug being Sky's most improved rider this season

Nordhaug is a good climber, but I can't imagine he could match Henao/Uran in the Giro. |
