Good race for Garmin.
Really looking forward to RVV and PR (go Cancellara and Maaskant)!

If Cancellara repeats his dominance in the cobbles it`s more like go Cancellara
But I will try my best as my team is one of the strongest in general.
So I definitely want a top10. But actually also a top5 should be possible.
Podium or winning one of the big two classics might be extreme hard.
Cance (83), Boonen (82) | Flecha, Nuyens, Maaskant (81) | Breschel, Pozzato (80) | Langeveld, Haussler, Devolder (79) | Vansummeren, Guldhammer, Gilbert (78) | Several riders together with Boom (77) |
And all of them are participating

March Summary
Race Results
Pro Tour
Tony Martin lead the ranking after his dominance in the spring. Winning Catalunya and 3rd in Paris Nice plus some stage wins.
Fuglsang, who did well in these two races, too is our best and only top10 rider so far.
His team HTC-Columbia is also leading the Team ranking with a very tiny advance ahead of Astana. Garmin as 6th is also quite good.
Continental
Larsson is leading this ranking after his overall win in Langkawi. It will be a close battle here as many great riders like him, Coppel or Sicard will looking for their opportunities. And also guys like Voeckler will collect more points.
Saxobank has already a nice advance to the next team Europcar. These two teams are also the favourites for the PT license next year.
CQ
This ranking looks like similar to the PT Rider Ranking. Martin with a nice lead. But here LL Sanchez is doing better as he had a brilliant February.
With a 2nd in the CQ ranking our team is very happy. Hopefully we can stay in the top5 until the end of the season.
Saxobank is also the best CT team here.
Who else but Tony Martin could have got this award. Good results in almost every race he participated. Really deserved win.
The youth award goes to Timofey Kritskiy, a young Katusha rider, who won a stage in Catalunya. With his time trial skills we might see him a few more times in future. |

The Tour of Flanders is a Flanders Classics road cycling race held in Belgium every spring since 1913. It`s the second monument this season after Milano San Remo.
Record champs with 3 wins are Achiel Buysse, Fiorenzo Magni, Eric Leman and Johan Museeuw.
After two wins of Devolder in 08/09 Fabian Cancellara dominated in 10/11. So these two riders could join the club of the record winners.
Results in 2011
1 | Fabian Cancellara | Leopard Trek | 2 | Leif Hoste | Omega Pharma-Lotto | 3 | Stijn Devolder | Quick Step - Innergetic | 4 | Philippe Gilbert | Liquigas - Cannondale | 5 | Tom Boonen | Quick Step - Innergetic | 6 | Heinrich Haussler | Saxobank - Sungard | 7 | Martijn Maaskant | Garmin - Cervelo | 8 | Filippo Pozzato | Team Katusha | 9 | Nick Nuyens | Liquigas - Cannondale | 10 | Juan Antonio Flecha | Sky Professional Cycling Team |
Cancellara was unbeatable last year. We were quite happy with Maaskant`s result. Also Vansummeren as 11th missed the top10 very close. Haussler with his former team did also very well, so we can expect a lot of our riders this year.
Garmin squad in 2012
Except of Goss and Rojas all our good cobbled classics riders are here. Maaskant is our leader as he has the best form and the best skills. But if a bigger group finishes than Haussler might have the best chances, while Vansummeren and Boom will have less problems on the hills. With Van Der Velde and Felline we have two brilliant helpers.
We definitely expect nice results here, everything else would be a disappointing.

The only missing great rider might be Steve Chainel as Europcar has no wildcard for this race. Not sure if we will see him in Paris Roubaix, which will suit him even better. |

@ tsmoha: Thanks. My team is indeed very good on cobbles, much better than my own skills in this category.
Brugge - Meerbeke
We ride the same route than in 2011. "Easier" first half but then lots of hills and pavement sections, that will definitely split the peloton. Plus bad weather conditions with a heavy wind and rain. Hopefully there aren`t a lot of bad crashes.
Some riders attacked after 60km. It was a very fast race in the first hour as several riders tried to attack but some teams always worked to catch them again. Not sure what these teams thought in the beginning of such a long and hard race.
Astana is doing most work on the first half of the race. Here we enter the first cobbled section of the day. The pace is still quite slow, but fast enough to hold the group under 4min.
The riders start the last third with a difficult, cobbled climb. It`s one of the longest climbs today onto the Oude Kwaremont.
The first big splits after this climb. The last groups will never find the contact again. Luckily all 8 Garmin riders in the first group.
On the next cobbled parts Leopard accelerated and so their 3 specialists Cancellara, Breschel and Guldhammer created a gap. Just Pozzato and Willems were able to follow. But still a long way to go.
20km later they were caught again. A ~30 rider group is leading the race now. Lots of Leopard, Quickstep, Omega and Garmin riders in there. Unfortunately Van Der Velde and Felline falled back when they were supposed to get some water. Was a bad timing on the narrow roads obviously. But still 4 of our riders here and all of them are quite relaxed.
Unfortunately none of them has a good daily form. Maaskant, Boom (0), Haussler, Vansummeren (-2). That really succks.
All over the stage there were lots of crashes. But this was the first one in the favourites group. Thor Hushovd and Lars Boom on the asphalt. They won`t come back as the pace is very fast now. Bad for Boom, but luckily he isn`t injured.
Just 3 more pavement sections to go. The Kapelmuur and the Bosberg are still coming but Pozzato already tries it on the flat section before.
There and especially on the Muur several riders tried to follow him. Also Maaskant attacked.
A new situation after the Muur. Stijn Devolder is leading the race solo.
Can he win the Ronde the third time today?
Behind him it`s already Maaskant and Langeveld. But the group around Cancellara and Boonen is coming closer again.
The Bosberg splitted the group a bit, no big gaps but big enough to decide the sprint. Also Devolder had no chance against the Leopard riders.
Vansummeren tried it with 4km to go but the pace was too fast.
Cancellara was the strongest and wins the sprint ahead of Gusev, who was the big surprise today. Flecha, who was close to invisible over the whole stage follows third ahead of Devolder. Haussler, Maaskant and Vansummeren with great results from 6-8. No top5 but actually better than expected. With a better daily form we might have reached more today. But a good sign for Paris Roubaix.
Cancellara is now one of these legends of the Ronde with 3 wins together with Bruysse, Magni, Leman or Museeuw. And he is still able to win it some more times.

Well, on all other cobbled races I always missed the first group. Especially on extreme. So I was surprised that it was this time me, who was ahead of the favourites for a short time.
Hopefully I will do great in PR, too and with a better daily form.
But before Pais Vasco and Scheldeprijs. |

Hey roturn, you´re story was quite good when I read it for the last time a few weeks ago! But I think it isn´t that good anymore...It´s absolutely amazing :-D
Good result with your cobblestone squad

Just noticed, how did you get the 2 seconds gap? ^^ |

Thanks Batista. Really nice to hear. Hope you start your first reports soon.
@ FreitasPCM: I changed the gene_time_gaps to 1 or 2. The only surprise to me is that there are still some bigger groups in behind. Obviously there was really no gap in between them. |

Nice ride here! Too bad you couldn't achieve a Top 5, but 3 in the Top 8 is quite a result on its own. Hope for more luck in Paris-Roubaix! |

Ahhh, I already clicked on the last page and unfortunately saw Alakagom's comment... and the results =P
But a very good race for Garmin, although no Top 5, 6th, 7th and 8th is awesome in such race! And, as you said, good signs for PR Not to mention Cancellara's win =Ds
Was hoping for a not-sprint result and thought that would happen with Pozzato. Bad. Unfortunately the PCM 10 gameplay messes up with cobbles.. and basically every other type of race (at least imo)

Thanks all.
Indeed the gameplay is very weird. Sometimes you get small groups with 15km to go. But not this time unfortunately. |

The Tour of the Basque Country is an annual cycling stage race held in the Basque Country, Spain, in April. The first race was held in 1924 with record champ José Antonio Gonzalez in the 70`s.
Because the Basque Country is a mountainous area there are hardly any flat stages, and the event's winners therefore tend to be good climbers. Most climbs in the Vuelta al PaÃs Vasco are not high, but often they are quite steep.
Results in 2011
1 | Alberto Contador | Astana | 2 | Samuel Sánchez | Euskaltel - Euskadi | 3 | Damiano Cunego | Lampre-ISD | 4 | Ryder Hesjedal | Garmin - Cervelo | 5 | Kim Kirchen | Team Katusha | 6 | Linus Gerdemann | Leopard Trek | 7 | Juan José Cobo Acebo | Team Movistar | 8 | Roman Kreuziger | Liquigas - Cannondale | 9 | Denis Menchov | Ag2r La Mondiale | 10 | Fränk Schleck | Leopard Trek |
Route in 2012
I will use the variant by Cremalex and Kissaha.
4 hilly stages, all of them with a descent after the final hill. The 5th stage might be a chance for the sprinters while the last stage is a hilly 20km timetrial.
Garmin squad in 2012
LL Sanchez is our leader for this race. His form isn`t that good so we must see what he is able to reach. Matthew Goss will be our sprinter but he might have just one chance I think.
Kreder, Lowe and Pate will be the most important helpers for Sanchez.

Favourites
***** Kreuziger
**** A.Schleck, F.Schleck
*** LL Sanchez, Lövkvist, Martin
** Sagan, Monfort, Van Garderen, Brajkovic
* Gesink, Velits, Cunego, S Sánchez, Wiggins
But if you have a closer look into the startlist you will find at least 10 more big favourites I have never seen such a great start list for a non GT race. Every team but Ceramica has a big favourite for the podium. Most teams including the Continental Teams have even more than one and so there are about 40 riders with a realistic chance to win this race. (I marked them in the startlist)
A special view will be on Euskaltel. It`s their home race and with Anton, Sanchez, Txurruka and Martinez they also send their best squad into this race.
Just last years winner Contador and 4th Hesjedal are missing to complete an even stronger start list.

It's a strong startlist 'cause Pais Vasco is the perfect preparation for the Ardennes =) Good luck for Sanchez.
