I have been way to bad at commenting here, work is killing me at the moment. Dissapointed in this race til now, hoping Preidler does something soon. Unfortunately we have decided to send Veyhe in the breaks in mountains, and not go in breaks on flat stages where he could do something... Team tactics...

Huzzah!
Demare surely took the criticism from the last hilly stage well and miraculously got back into contention just in time.
His first stage win was strong, his second stage win was smart, and this one was lucky. Thanks Vesuvio for not pushing on the flat!
And thanks to everyone that doesn't mind us winning too much
Annoyingly, we can't seem to chain these results with a great AToC for a real surge to the top of the standings (and for an actual good goal score at the end of a season), but Demare is rightfully where our focus is at and that is a very good feeling.
In particular keeping ciclamino into the two flat stages gives extra points and hopefully extra power too. Ideally, some sprinters already feel the elevation gain in their legs and we can add some more good results there.
It would be amazing if we could gain enough points over Schleck until the double mountaintop weekend so we can keep the jersey all the way past the TT and pray for big breaks then.

Feel like Choi can be a little bit better here. Still he;s not lost crazy time, so cant be too frustrated.

Congratulations again, cio!
Another good stage performance by Guldhammer, happy with another podium. Would be even better if gaps had occured, but seeing how it was raced, and giving the second group with Demare the chance to come back, it seemed difficult to force a selection after that merge, so it was likely a good call to then wait for the sprint.
Over to Ciolek now then. Guldhammer has delivered very well from the very start here, and hopefully our sprinter is motivated by that, as we really need him to step up after very disappointing sprinting so far. |

Our guys are doing pretty much what can be expected from them so far.

Groenewegen even without following any sprinters and dropping back to 30th position with 3,5km to go, is fast enough to finish 6th then...
If only he would be rated a sprinter to participate as all others do...
So far a Giro to forget. |

For the love of fucking god...
One thing is that Tzortzakis is wasted and can't sprint anymore. That happens.
But then both Vasyliv and Chamorro decides to, for no apparent reason, to drop back 4'36" on todays stage. Effectively ends Vasylivs 3rd in the U25 competition and both having now lost approximately 8 minutes in the GC for no good reason being 40th and 42nd instead of 24th and 30th respectively. Those are the kind of points we can't afford to just give away.
The only positive on todays stage is that we atleast had 3 riders in the front group, so we didn't kill our Team GC hopes even more than we already have been doing recently.

Don't know if you took the cut at 25th place and Preidler, but it was a bummer to read down and realise that both Stake Laengen and Iturria lost 4'36 for no apparent reason. Really the kind of uneccessary time losses we can't afford if we want to get in that top 30.
Congrats on another win, cio. Looks like you went with the right choice.

I'm about to give up Don't get why we put Guldhammer in the train. Assuming Dakteris was too spent to contribute, we had Oss there who should be perfect for a leadout on such a stage, but instead our failures in sprint stages just continue. |

Saber has shown that he belongs in this field Wonder why Navardauskas can't perform like this when there are actual points on offer! The hills haven't been fruitful so far but otherwise, we're doing why we chose to take a wildcard and I'm mostly happy with how the team has performed so far. Should be great second half to follow in the GC fight...
Thanks for the reports roturn

It looks like Dombrowski won't be able to distance Schleck in the mountains. Hopefully he will be able to do so with Amador and get 2nd here.
What happened with Van Poppel there though? He seemed to be in a good position and then he is outsprinted even by Joe.

It's starting to get a bit scary now! (just in time for halloween)
Thanks tastasol, I think that's fair to say now...
Looked like setting up a train meant we were too early yet again, but I guess I was right about the comparative energy levels of sprinters (and leadout trains) already. We should really get Hadi or Cavagna up there too though.
5th place or better in the next sprint would mean Schleck has to win both mountain stages to get past Demare, that's the main goal now. I don't dare to expect much more.
Silvestre finally gives Berg a reason to cheer, that's good to see.
I want to reiterate my condolences to roturn for this mess of a season by your sprinters so far. May they bounce back and keep Aegon where it belongs. Must be especially frustrating to report it yourself.

Woah Demare really tearing this apart, congratz cio!
Positively surprised by Alarcon in the last few stages, always alert and finishing in the front rows.

Finally a reason to smile ...
Silvestre with the right choice following the Demare wheel, in the end ends up being lucky to finish in the second position because it was completely worn.
Demare is completely destroying everyone in the sprint, I hope he ends up winning the points classification because if so far someone deserves to win is him without a doubt.
Also nice to see Groenewegen appear in this race finally, not as expected but still so much better than in previous days.

Oscar um a bad choice of wheels loses yet another chance for a stage win which should be in his reach. Demare on the other hand is enjoying his stay in Italy. Congrats cio!

Demare takes another stage win? Congrats Cio! Turns out your decision to send him here was perfectly right. That said im still confident that my planning for MVS is good too. The stat differences between them might not be huge but i think both of us could have made the best decision for our sprinters and GTs
Nice to see Mansilla grabbing some nice bonus points here. Much appreciated and another good sign for Evonik
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

A little late into this race - just came home from a holiday to Singapore - but it seems I haven't missed out on anything. Air France doing just ad bad as expected, unfortunately. |

79 Docker getting a sprint train in a GT is hilarious.
And shows how weird PCM is using the sprinter formulas. Would like to see Groenewegen with a train of Boom, Martinelli, Sbaragli at least once in Thurs field as I think he would grab 1-2 stages for sure.
Congrats Abishek though. Saber really showing skills here. |

Wyss, Saber, Mansilla, who do I cheer for? So unlucky for the amazing Swiss, but awesome from Saber to get Philips a GT stage win, amazing
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Please give me some points for this race
Saber performing way better than I was expecting, and hopefully can continue this for the rest of the season. A bitter-sweet moment chasing down last season's hero Wyss on course for the win. A great ride for our former rider in the lime colours of Isostar. Hopefully he'll have his day later in this race.
Also, please give me some points for this race
Thanks for the report roturn!
