I potentially was the detective. Received a gun, sadly couldn't use it in time. Only saw bikex & trekky (iirc) once, both with a town vote. Detective was a useless role this time, as it's 50/50 whether a town read is correct.

On Roles:
It does slightly depend on the number of people.
For a next edition i'd recommend something like - Terrorist, Masons, Doctor.
Terrorist gives Mafia a dangerous option and hail mary move late in the day. Masons give Town a couple of known safe people to talk and work. Doctor acts almost like a wildcard that could become very powerful, or completely usless.
This would also force the Town to be active as there's not Detective to give clues, and they would have to talk to figure things out. And without Detective/CC we don't need a Godfather role.
Gunsmith can be very good but hasn't been well used in any of these games, but with low numbers of people it's a hard one. Ultimately it doesn't really help the Town as a role and we could take it out without making much difference to things.

This game still works best when you've got 40 people all playing at once in a room together  Nothing comes close to the crazieness of that game!

I was the doctor. I saved myself every-night because as was said above there was no legit discussion that would have persuaded me to save someone else. The next editions should be the same length but possibly with a 5 post per day minimum so people have to be active when playing.
I don't understand why TMM didn't investigate me somewhat before just randomly firing at me. I didn't think I did anything mafia like in my game and that was my full intentions. We are 8 editions in next and still people won't believe me.
Hell, in the first game when I was mafia, I told you guys I was mafia 
The game on this site has been losing interest which further helps the mafia in the long run.

Actually, I'll admit that I thought you played well this game and was actually one of the better townies, the only problem was that made me suspect you after the last games.

On the roles discussion, I'd vote for removing the Godfather even if we kept a detective, mafia are rarely investigated, so it just seems like too much defense, especially in games with only 2 mafia.

I feel like removing the detective/CC/Godfather roles would stop the town from relying on the detective and force more discussion and finger pointing. I'm not sure what other roles we could replace them with as I've only ever played on here so haven't seen other roles in use or if it would be better to just have less roles in general.

May i ask your thoughts behind this? Were you expecting to get nightkilled early or did you stuggle to predict who might be kill targets?

Pretty much the second part of that. I had no idea who the town would be after because the discussions were getting nowhere. I knew if I saved myself I could make it until there were maybe 5-6 people left. Later on in the day I was killed I was going to reveal who I was and try to get everyone on board lynching TMM. But when Marco & TMM would have came forward that would have been 3 confirmed townies and then we pretty much would have just went after the 2 mafia and won the game.
Didn't get that opportunity. I have learned from my time at mafia universe championships that you have to point fingers early and see how people defend themselves and base everything off of that, which is why I suggested the possibility of a minimum post count each day. In a 48 hour day, we managed to get almost 500 posts, which here would be crazy.

I gave a gun every night I was alive, but one was killed the same night by mafia, another was killed the day after and the third we all know how it finished

I agree that needs somehow a minimum post by everyone, but probably at least a day more in day time needs too, because we saw that in some occasions it would be decisive in other directions

Thanks jandal for another great game!
Finally I got to be something else than a dull powerless townie like I was three times before. It was much fun to play the game from the other side. It was much easier to understand what everyone was thinking from this perspective.
I’m very happy hillis’ and my plan we came up with after the sudden events of the last day worked. I didn’t dare to believe it until the very end.
@marco: sorry for calling your post an insult to our intelligence. I tried to sound aggressive because I thought it would help my case. You were of course right from your perspective. I also never questioned your intelligence I just wanted toreveal your cheap trick. 
Hillis lynch vote on trekbmc was just for show btw. We didn’t want to get him lynched. Also we thought you’d rather think trekbmc was the other mafia besides hillis at that point.
I also do not really believe that you expected a counter claim. The story of you building a trap sounds very made up afterwards.

@trekbmc: Thanks for your vote! Everything we posted in the last day was purely to influence you. At the point of your penultimate post what story were you tending to believe?
@jseadog: Even though we thought you had some special role we never considered killing you. If you are suspected by people already, it is extremely unlikely that the mafia would try to night kill you. I don’t think our kills were impossible to guess. We removed players that would participate actively in the discussion.
Obviously that included Croatia of whom I was scared as shit
I think TMM was playing a very good game. His actions almost costed us the win on the last day. If they revealed themselves as masons before I wouldn’t have counter claimed, so the timing of the gun use wasn’t so bad imo.
Fun how it turned out in the end, hillis and I agreed in the beginning to use no risky tactics.  |

Why? Right now many town members seem to wait for hints to magically appear and mostly those will have to come from the detective. That can work as seen from Ian in a previous season but just as often (especially in a season like this with only one detectable mafia member) it wont.
By getting rid of this kind of information the town will have to actively look for hints right from the beginning and they can no longer afford to no lynch so often (well they shouldnt think they could in the current format too but that is another matter). I think this would have to be coupled with longer day periods to make it harder to lurk around and to let discussions evolve. The longer periods should also be a bit more friendly to those with reduced availability as it doesnt hurt as much to be away for a weekend or stuff like that.
We can happily return to the current format afterwards but i think one game with this changed setup would be great.
I'm happy to give this a go if you think it was good. Power roles going too, keeping doc, terrorist and masons imo is a good idea. Would like to continue the discussion on this and obviously depends on numbers. For sure to see how that goes it could be very fun to see. If you all want I'm happy to give a smaller turnaround for it

smaller turnaround would be nice but I find it hard to believe that the interest level will be that high in the foreseeable future. 
Maybe being in the heart of the cycling season will attract some interested people.

A shorter turnaround does sound good, however I'm away second week of July so I wouldn't want to be playing then as I won't have Internet access for that week.
That said maybe starting just after the Tour would mean there's more people logging in each day to see it rather than starting sooner.

Agree with starting during/after Tour, I personally am out in last weeks of June for cycling (I'm going to Ventoux from home  excited!), but after that I'm in again
