Btw. i guess whole case will either way end at CAS, so the final say can be in the very distant future, which sucks as always with big doping cases and especially in cycling.

I hope that after first verdict he get a suspension (if it is demonstrate that, highly probable) without waiting for the CAS...

Not really news, but Valverde (and Landa) will race in Mallorca. Been looking forward to the day Valverde raced again competetively, he said he has experienced no setbacks and should be in fine shape. Basically the Valverde we know (and love, right?). He was in superb shape months ago, but has chosen to dial the training a bit back to not get too fatigued - said he needed to try to push himself to his limits without troubles.

Vamos Bala, make me proud Grin

really want to see him in his best shape for the GTs, last year I was feeling that he was at his best in career before the tour start for a placement in GC

That probably has to be my biggest regret after the Tour in 2006 with Basso, Ullrich and Vino not even starting. Valverde was at the best level he had ever been and nobody can convince me he didnøt have a chance against a subpar Froome on that route. Urán finished 2nd afterall.

Yes, imo, Valv would have won. He looked unbeatable even on the big mountains, and with lack of real racing going on, Valv would have just f'cked them over and over again. Hopefully he is right and he can once again find those mythical legs of 2017.

EDIT: Ok, if Porte would have not crashed, I guess it would have been close between Valv and Portechkin, imo.

yes, these were the points, Uran second, and I never saw a Valverde so solid in tt like 2017, and in every stage that they arrived in 10/12 group were bonus seconds for him in the sprint, and about Porte, probably the most complete rider for GT of 2017 without the occasion to demostrate it...
this year brought with him a lot of regrets, definetly

This is just going to drag on and on to a point where it is pointless suspending him as he has already served his suspension.

To be honest I think that's probably Sky's plan.

He have not served even a day of suspension yet. People here are mixing several things together. Froome is not provisionally suspended like Ulissi was since few weeks after that Giro, hence the ban cant be retroactive from the Vuelta date for Froome. He is cleared to race, so once he got his ban (and he has to be banned, as he had gone over the limit with prohibited substance) that ban will start from date of his suspension. I doubt we will see Froome race even a day in 2018, he will be banned for at least 9 months, but possibly for two years starting from the suspension date (which is not yet).

It was meant more as a tongue in cheek comment about it taking so long.

I guess whether or not he will race in 2018 will depend on how confident Sky are that they can provide evidence he didn't cheat. If they are confident they have the necessary evidence then why would they stop him from racing? I'm sure there are discussions going on behind the scenes between Sky and the relevant doping agencies so that both sides have a rough idea of what the expected outcome will be. Sky will know whether or not they have any real chance of defending themselves.

Wout Van Aert gets his Paris-Roubaix wildcard (after missing out on Strade Bianche), is a top 10 possible?

(Yes for me)
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Possible? of course. Likely? not yet.

Is Van der Poel in too? Interesting to see who wins that rivalry on the road.

nope. Van der Poel is in a CT team, Beobank. But you might see them battling later in the season

De Plus and Vakoc hit by a truck while out training with Jungels in SA. Vakoc the much less fortunate with broken vertebrae. No comment...

God how do we all wish this was true and so simple Sad
But given there's still not date for any hearings or tribunals or jurys or anything, i think we'll just about see Froome get some racing in. Doesn't seem like Sky will pull him from the planned schedule, so unless the UCI can get a ban on him before March, which could happen but i think it will take at least 3 or 4 more months to get a decision, he'll be in action even if only briefly

Then it's easy solution. Let's start trials, process what ever.
Same time Aso and Rcs etc. just wont invite rider who is under process. Meaning that they wont take a risk to erase later one name at final GC standings.
Let's solve that issue. And maybe this is signal for Sky do not stall and play stupid that nothing has happened.
Then even they will need quick decision. Not 2-3 year process.

Don't think so. He is great rider , amazing bike handler, power house. Still he is made for 1,5h intense races. Roubaix is different one.
Still I am happy to see him there, and when he is successful then I will be glad.
