That was an amazing race. Well deserved victoy for Denmark with great tactics and what an effort by Egholm. We CAN have great racing here.
Märkl took a good silver but to be fair, I didn't see him take a single turn the whole last hour of racing. Smart, and he's a sprinter so he knew his win conditions, but obviously somewhat exploiting the situation in a large group.
He's a year younger than nearly everyone else in the Top 10 too.

Someone should explain to the riders that tramadol, all sorts of pain killers, crushed caffeine etc are not a good combo with the heat.

Weather currently looking around 34-36celcius with humidity around 30-35%. Wind around 13-15mph. So should be good to go full length for both Elite RR's

However 34 AIR TEMPERATURE in lets say Andalucia feels different to 34 C Qatar. In Qatar you got nothing but the desert therefore the earth warms up stupidly quickly. I think you will find the tarmac temperatures will be close to 60 C. |

34 degrees feels better in Qatar than in Andalusia. Dry heat feels cooler than same temperature with lots of humidity and moisture in the air.
Main problem in Qatar might be the lack of shade during the early part but on the Pearl itself there's seems to be enough shade from both the hotels and palm trees.

Wind is the only thing to make the race exciting. No wind equals 250k snore fest, break goes away, break gets caught, sprint.
Wind could turn it into a classicy race of sorts.

Yes, Gaviria or Tommeke would be the perfect World Champions for me.

Where - a) on the German squad or b) on Shonak's list of who he would like to be World Champion?
A) Yes, he is on the German team
B) No, he wasn't on Shonak's 2 man list. |

Nice of the UCI and Qatar to make such a huge investment in Slow TV.
Showing a lot of faith in the format.
