My application
Spoiler
How much do you currently know about the management game?
I like to think i know enough i join, but without playing it probably not that much. I have followed the man-game in all my time as a member and before when i was just browsing. I've read the FAQ, flicked through various Team HQ's and race discussions. Anything i don't know I'm sure i can find using the search, or by asking. It cant be that complicated Pfft
Why do you want to join the game?
Without a ManGame team how can you be a true PCM.Daily member? I love the idea of playing against real humans over a full season. I have played all the online cycling management games but none come close to the ManGame. It would just be the best to be part of the single largest part of the site. Frankly i feel jealous of those who are involved. Its like a whole other community over here, and one i would love to join at least to say i was part of it
How do we know that you will be active?
All you can do is trust. Big bonus is my Uni schedule. I only ever have 3 hours of lectures in the week, and only another 3-4 hours of work a day. As you can see i am very active across the rest of the forum. I make stages, have a story etc. With unrestricted internet i am always on Daily. As said no way to guarantee activity, but i swear to be awesomely active Smile
If selected, how do you intend to manage your team?
Well i am massively into the British cycling scene. So my first idea for the team would be to have mostly UK riders, based around maturity. Most people focus on developing youth, i would focus on those in the twilight of their careers. If that doesn't appeal then i have a second idea. I am in love with Seattle. So at least 1/4 of the team will be American, preferably from the Washington/Oregon area. 1/4 of the team will be Bulgarian (this stems from a long running thing, its hard to explain here, pm if you want to know more, and that goes for anyone...). So that leaves half the team. This will be 1/4 over 30's, as i like to give them a chance and a grand send off. The final 1/4 will be whoever i can get. But the team will be as FL, TT, SP, CB, focused as i can get, same for the UK based idea. I seem to be waffling on here.
Summary
Read the FAQ, followed from a distance for 1-2 years. Followed major things for 6 months. Should know enough to jump straight in.
Biggest part of Daily. Cant me a 'true' member without a team. Constantly active and interesting.
Lost of free time. Active everywhere else in the community.
UK based over 30's. Mix of US, Bulgarian, over 30's and anyone else (probably the second one actually). As involved as is possible
Should be everything, feel free to ask for more or clarification
Hope i am successful.
This was followed by a PM to SN clarifying that i preferred my second idea and in a bit more detail

Here's my application if anyone is interested in reading. Took me about 10 minutes.
Spoiler Hey SN, here's my little application to join the man-game! I know you guys look for active members for these spots, and I admit since the vuelta ended I've been basically nowhere to be seen. But I can credit that to my exams which just ended so I've added PCM.Daily back onto my bookmarks tab.
Anyway, I know a bit about the man-game. I've seen some really cool teams with awesome presentations and clever ideas, and I'd love to be part of it. I know that it involves signing, how that's done I'm not too sure. I assume you pick the fitness schedules and the start lists but that's it I'm assuming right?
I'd love to join the game, because I love the idea of being in charge of my own team. My own riders, my own shirt and my own thread to look after and customise to my team. I have seen the satisfaction that getting a win or just a nice top-10 finish can reward some players of the game, so I'd love that feeling, even if it never comes around.
As I said, I've been pretty invisible on the forums recently, but in the past when school hasn't been taking over my life, I've been a contributing member. I was nominated for best new member last year which was a big honour, but also shows that people seem to like my presence on the forums. I definitely plan to stick around on the site, and if I got a man-game spot that would be extra incentive.
As managing a team goes, I'm not sure. I definitely want to come up with a cool new idea, but once I've had a look through the database I think I'll be able to narrow it down. A big thing about this for me is the media thread, so I aim to keep that one of the most active on the site if I earn a spot.
I'd really love to be part of the MG for 2013, so I hope you decide to give me a spot.
Thanks,
Teddy. |

My app, which isn't that long actually. Guess I've proven my commitment and activity in the PMG.
Spoiler How much do you currently know about the management game?
To be honest, not too much. I know the game won't be run in career mode, but single races/classics. I know you have to set your own goals and you just have to hope Cya-logic won't make you fail horribly. I know you can select the races your team will ride, but you have a maximum number of race days (don't know the number but I read it somewhere.)
Why do you want to join the game?
I was involved in the P-MG and I really liked it. Now it's closed and I miss it, so why not try to join the actual Man-Game?
How do we know that you will be active?
I was quite active at the P-MG I believe, you can probably find me on nearly every page there. However I started a study and have less spare time, still I think I have plenty of time left in the weekends and evenings.
If selected, how do you intend to manage your team?
The same way I managed my P-MG team. Get some old riders who can still do something and fill the rest of the spaces with crappy young riders who can develop. Most likely I will keep my P-MG team name, if no one decides to take PrivatBank as their sponsor. From there I'll try to sign as many Ukrainian and Russian riders as possible.
Other things you might want to know:
I do not own PCM 12, which you will use if I'm right.
Yours,
fjhoekie

This season's system of applications was infininately superior to last year.
It really sorted out who was interested enough to put the effort in to make an application. If the only reason somebody would have had to do a better application was because they had seen what their competition had written, then they are unlikely to end up being a good manager.
I had thought about making them hidden from the start, but the deciding point was when maxime86 actually quoted ManxMissile's application in his own app.
Nobody posted a question in the application thread, or PMed me, to ask about the application process - to check if they understood all the questions right - yet plenty of answers showed that the final question was misunderstood. The only PMs I got were the impatient lot who were desperate to know when a decision would be made.

Indication that you had actually thought about what you would do with your team, while being realistic. e.g. the type of rider you might target in the transfers

@ggDonavon
This kind of answer
The team will be looking to become an French-Canadian (Alstorm-RBC) squad with the possibility of looking for some talent from these nations and being able to nature it into a high class team from them. I would like to think we can be competitive at Pro Conti level and we will be applying to that level but if that is not the case and the UCI deicde against we would like to also appl for contiental divison status. The main targets would of course be Coppel and Hesjadel but i know that they may not be attainable in the first few season that we establish ourselves so to start with a would be looking towards a stage hunting team(again!) this will involve sprinting riders(like haddou last year) Anthony Lavoine is one rider i have pinpointed for this role and i have also looked at some lead-out riders for him already but not wanting to name names the other side of the team will riders chasing the break Nicolas Edet style of racing where we will try and find mountains jerseys and look for exposure for the sponsors on board with our team. The type of races i would look to par-take in would be mainly French races and many America Tour races this would include the likes of The Tour of Meditteraneen , Tour of Batenkill, The Tour of Colorado and of Course the GP Montreal and GP Quebec which will be my two main targets for next season assuming they are still in the continental tour. For the future i will be of course looking towards the future i would one day like to attain the acclaim of a monument in my time this would probably be my main goal followed by secondary goals of getting to the world tour and taking home a jersey in a GTour stage race.

This is my unsuccessful application:
Spoiler How much do you currently know about the management game?
I have seen how the man game works in my short time as a member. You sign riders and build your team up as you try to progress into the upper divisions. This sounds very fun and i would definetly like to do this for a long time.
Why do you want to join the game?
The management part of PCM is limited and management always been my favourite type of game. The process looks very rewarding as your team gets better as well. I am enjoying being part of Letrik's custom season (even if it has'nt progressed very far yet) and this also looks like a very fun opportunity.
How do we know that you will be active?
I have hardly be a member at all and my post count is very small, but i have commited to Letrik's game and i would be a very involved member of your game. I visit the websites multiple times a day and this would give me even more reason to.
If selected, how do you intend to manage your team?
My team would be british and would try to nurture young british talents towards future sucsess. We would try to focus on stage races but any british talent would be welcome. If you want to find out more you will have to pick me!!
Thanks |

I didn't know that. I didjn't understand the last question at all. I basically just said I would be active, manage my teams strengths and work on them in the transfer market. I didn't know you had to actually describe your team. Woops.

That was added to the applications thread, so I think that it's safe to say that he did.
