Tour of Haut Var 2013
Stage 2, 205,0km
i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq337/jt1109jt1109/PCM0019-7_zps65a21d6b.jpg

Today the 2nd stage of Haut Var

Tinkoff have

Freire
Lagutin
Kiryienka
Akhmetshin
Pliuschin
Smukulis

i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq337/jt1109jt1109/PCM0020-7_zpsc6235398.jpg

The start of the day we knew we were going to have to work hard on the front to keep the yellow today so we had 3 guys on the front for most of the day while Lagutin and Kiryienka looked after Oscar

i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq337/jt1109jt1109/PCM0021-7_zpsc0b63d47.jpg

And the first good new of the day was the break contained no threats to the overall this was good news for us and we tried to keep a slow pace for most of the day to allow the break the win.

i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq337/jt1109jt1109/PCM0022-6_zpsabf6c986.jpg

Over the climbs on the course and a sizeable group still due to the slow pace we were very happy the break had 8 mins with 80km to go it's going to be tight.

i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq337/jt1109jt1109/PCM0023-5_zpsa3aea4bb.jpg

Tinkoff then get overun at the front as FDJ and Europcar push the pace there not allowing a breakaway win today that's for sure it's going to be hard to breakawa but at least 7 guys try.

i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq337/jt1109jt1109/PCM0025-6_zpsb33beb8a.jpg

All with very little effect other then catching the breakaway as such we put Kiryienka on the front to keep a high pace and allow oscar to have a sprint to fight for.

i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq337/jt1109jt1109/PCM0026-5_zps254ccff9.jpg

And with 1km to go were there the sprint Lagutin brings Oscar to just behind Voeckler and Gallopin his two rivals from yesterday.

i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq337/jt1109jt1109/PCM0027-4_zps4257844b.jpg

1km to go Oscar shows us he is not as strong as yesterday as Voeckler and Gallopin power ahead Oscar comes into the fight for 3rd with Vichot and Hermans

i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq337/jt1109jt1109/PCM0028-4_zpsa68f631c.jpg

Voeckler Wins! that means that Oscar must finish 3rd in order to have a chance of winning the race overall as the results will go to countback of milli seconds.

Spoiler
i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq337/jt1109jt1109/PCM0029-5_zps4d0bec59.jpg

And Oscar just pips it now to the count-back we wait and wait and wait Oscar is congratulated by Vasil who finished 9th on the stage but he is still waiting Oscar and Thomas have a quick chat as the commissar comes and reveals the results.

Great sprint from Oscar Wink

Volta Algarve 2013
Stage 5, 35km
i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq337/jt1109jt1109/PCM0009-31_zps3d371e74.jpg

i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq337/jt1109jt1109/PCM0001-61_zps11f8e45d.jpg

There was a slow start to the TT today with no big name riders going out early untill way into the Top 50 riders to go when Larrson of NSP went 55 seconds clear of his nearest challenger

i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq337/jt1109jt1109/PCM0002-53_zps239b415c.jpg

He was being followed on the course by Levi Leipheimer who was 1 second behind him at the first time check and changed that to 1 second in front by the end

i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq337/jt1109jt1109/PCM0003-49_zps2240f5a4.jpg

This remained the top 2 riders untill 11th placed overall Bradley Wiggins came out setting a great pace and beating Levi by 27 seconds but he already knew that he was not going to take this TT

i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq337/jt1109jt1109/PCM0004-46_zps3554cbb1.jpg

As Fabian Cancellara was out on course and setting amazing times at the first point 34 seconds up and he changed that to 45 seconds by the end no one was going to beat that the title was his but were could Rein Taarmae finish

i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq337/jt1109jt1109/PCM0005-43_zpsb6554153.jpg

At the first checkpoint Rein was 18th he was 1 min down on wiggins he needed to gain 22 seconds to keep 2nd place on the GC but he had held something back and on the final stretch Rein stopped the clock 1"21 behind Cance and only 34 seconds behind Wiggins Giving him 2nd place overall a great result

i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq337/jt1109jt1109/PCM0006-42_zpsfac1bffd.jpg

While overnight and long time leader of the race Greg Van Avermaet came home in 45th place but still 6th on GC a good week for him.

i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq337/jt1109jt1109/PCM0007-35_zps34f0d3d7.jpg

But the man of the moment was Fabian Canacellara destroying the field can his Superiority carry over to the classics we will have to find out but promising signs for Tinkoff as Taaramae is 2nd and proves his week long stage race ability good luck to him and the team in the upcoming races

Nice to see this is still going!

Wow this is suddenly back to reporting Pfft

sutty68
Like a Phoenix from the ashes Wink

cunego59
I could do it if no one else volunteers, but since I have already done the Tour Down Under, it might be nice to have someone else. Also, I'm not 100% sure how much time I'll have in the coming days, but I should be able to do something at the latest next week. But to everyone, feel free if you'd like to do the reports.

roturn
I would have done it earlier as I expected it to be a few weeks ago. Now I don`t have time for the next 4-5 weeks at least.

The Race

Traditionally, Omloop Het Nieuwsblad opens the cobblestone season on the last weekend of february. While it indicates the ambitions of the main classic specialists, their shape can still vary a lot this early. Still, Omloop is a prestigeous race that every rider fancies to have in his palmares.

The Favorites

Cancellara and Ballan are the top favourite but behind them, the field is very balanced. The outcome seems very open.

Almost all of our leaders are present, preparing for Paris-Nice, Tirreno-Adriatico and Milano-San Remo. Or, in the case of Filippo Pozzato and Sep Vanmarcke, to actually ride for a good result. They're both in decent shape and start with a co-leadership. With their joint power and their punch in the sprint, we're hoping for a Top 5.

Ian Butler
Good luck with this race! Let's hope Pozzato can take a win!

sutty68
Nice looking squad that is taking part Wink

cunego59
I'm having some trouble with my notebook (windows crashed, I've given it to a professional to save the data), so the report will be delayed until probably the day after tomorrow. Sorry for that :/

OlegTinkov
No problem, goodluck with your notebook!
