Taaramae was amazing, impressive riding and staying super cool when Zakarin and Dillier, who both sat all the way on his wheel, attacked him.. Great win for him!
Zakarin no comment, this guy is no fun to watch. Just no fun.
Stunning landscape, exciting race. This race has a huge future.

Great victory for one of my favoritt riders (Quinziato) and a perfect race by Wellens. Would like to see Hermans or EBH win, but well deserved victory for Taraame who hopefully quits Astana. As for the race it was good and this may sounds a bit too patriotic , but wow Norway is beautiful. Would be great if Artic Race became WT in the future. It could replace San Sebastian if they don't learn how to broadcast properly or Tour de Pologne which I personally find a bit dull. |

So awesome to see Rein getting his confidence back!  that I think has been a major issue for him! Also, really hoping these victories keep him in the WT I think he could really benefit from being in a stable and structured team! I'm hoping for Katusha or maybe even a Lampre. I really would love to see him lead a GT again and see if he's really for real! But for now I celebrate!!!! |

7 day races..7 day races..7 day races..I should keep saying that. he has no material to be GT rider at least 2 years.
He has confidence for sure..always had. He will leave astana for sure..let's hope that he wont make any stupid move as it was he's 2 year extension with Cofidis when he was on he's peak. That deal destroyed him. Let him race after mono virus..was detecting that virus to long...let the young man make he's own training plans without any pro help. Personal trainer was not allowed. French team will suck at the future also and that will not change. They just keep up fuck up all french talents.
At least he noticed how is to ride inside team who is looking after their riders. He was saying that at Astana he was training much harder..but it was much easier to take when it was at Cofidis year. |

Sorry again for the delay, here's the last two stages of the Vuelta a Colombia, and what stages they were!
Friday's stage was meant to be a sort of transitional stage while everyone looked apprehensively towards the Alto de Las Palmas MTT on Saturday. Yes, it did include an HC climb (not sure what this one is called) but so far from the finish that it was unlikely to have an effect on the race. But this is cycling in Colombia, you can never take anything for granted! And so it came about, that the Coldeportes team were using their strength in numbers to set a hard pace on the climb to try and force an early selection and, almost by accident, managed to create a significant split in the pack. A group of four ended up riding away from the field, containing two of the Coldeportes riders - RamÃrez and Laverde, in 5th and 6th place overall respectively, plus the duo fighting it out at the top, Ortega and Sevilla. The quartet worked very well together, and stretched out their lead to nearly five minutes at one point, before the peloton behind started to up the chase. Nevertheless they stayed clear with a healthy advantage and in the sprint it was Laverde who triumphed, with Sevilla gaining a crucial two bonus seconds to add to those won at intermediate sprints.

Laverde triumphs in the sprint, he moves up to 4th overall and teammate RamÃrez up to 3rd.
The upshot of this was that Sevilla narrowed Ortega's lead down to just 28 seconds ahead of the last, race-defining stage. Remember, Ortega had beaten Sevilla on this same course last year, but Sevilla was looking increasingly strong as the race went on.
Unfortunately for Ortega, it wasn't to be. Sevilla flew up the climb in an astonishing display of power, crushing the rest of the field, and in the end winning with a fairly comfortable margin to claim his third consecutive Vuelta a Colombia title. Ortega in fact looked rather jaded, finishing in 9th place behind some of the climbers he had so convincingly beaten previously, and a long way behind Sevilla. Surprise performances from Alejandro Serna, the winner of stage 6, in second place, climbing with all the GC guys, and also, in a magnificent fashion, Hernan Aguirre, the 19-year-old rounding off an excellent Vuelta with an 8th place finish here, cementing a 9th place finish overall and easy victory in the U23 competition. The most disappointing performance definitely from Alejandro RamÃrez, most likely tired from his exertions yesterday: having started in 3rd place overall, a time almost 3 minutes slower than Sevilla saw him slip down to fifth, being overtaken by his teammates Laverde and Gómez. Fernando Camargo put in a very good ride to show what might have been had things gone his way more in the race, and José Rujano was solid, capping a steady but disappointingly unspectacular race from him.
Sevilla grits his teeth as he powers to yet another Vuelta a Colombia win.
A happy Spaniard on the podium, flanked by Ortega and Laverde.

Sevilla ended up with a gap of a minute to Ortega, but it had been incredibly close for the whole race up until the final stage.

Certainly, this year's Vuelta a Colombia was a very exciting race, it rarely fails to deliver, and I might try and do something similar for the Clásico RCN which will be in late September sometime, and knowing Colombia will probably be equally exciting. Most of the main protagonists will probably be back for that one and hopefully Soliz will have recovered in time to defend his title there!

Rujano did win the jersey for best foreigner. Sevilla is considered Colombian by now 
Sevilla this year is once again deserved winner. He climbed better than in previous years when he would get dropped on the real tough climbs like Linea.

I completely agree that he is best in 7 day races, he has shown that his entire career, look at the way he rode Paris-Nice in 2010-11, the Tour of Romandie, Volta Cataluyna, etc. but I would love to see what he could do in say the Vuelta or Giro, a less stressful GT where he didn't have the weight of the world on his shoulders!
I agree the Cofidis extension was a disaster, but I saw a tweet that made my heart sink, it said that a return to Cofidis may be in the cards for him, god I will lose it if that is the case! |
