Ted King is also a tremendously popular man because of his blog and twitter feed. That's good publicity for the team.

Several sites have now Edward King as confirmed rider for Cannondale in 2015, although I can't find any news confirming it.
I wonder what has he done to secure a new contract above some other guys in Garmin and Cannondale who had much more noticeable performances in recent years.
As has been sated by others, you can't only have leaders. Outside of his media profile the guy is a handy domestique, no star but someone who will work his guts out for the teams goal, teams need riders like this
Hells 500 Crew and 6 x Everester
Don Rd Launching Place
Melbourne Hill Rd Warrandyte
Colby Drive Belgrave South
William Rd The Patch
David Hill Rd Monbulk
Lakeside Drive Emerald

I'm aware of the fact, but still I've never seen him doing the job that other quite a bit below par WT rider couldn't do. Good domestiques usually get their chance somewhere in the smaller races and can achieve some kind of results, but Ted King doesn't have any. I'm not convinced the guy is as good as some other who were available to do the same job for the same money. Or maybe it would've been better to give an opportunity for another youngster. I think I would rather have Phillip Gaimon still in the team.
I like him though, so I will welcome him in my favourite team.
I also have thoughts that the whole Cannondale merge will not make the Garmin's roster any stronger. They have Ted King and Marangoni, who never were and never will be as good as the average WT rider IMO. Moser, who had a very disappointing season. Mohoric and Bettiol who are probably still too young to contribute much at the WT level. Koren is a very solid all-around domestique, but nothing more. Formolo and Villella are undoubtedly talented guys, but perhaps not at their primes, yet. In short term, I don't think it will really make the team stronger, and in the long term, some of these good talents may leave the team before Cannondale will really start profiting from them.

I still think it will make it weaker this year. They get a few good young talents like Formolo and Mojoric, but they didn't get Viviani, they lost their other sprinter and a lot of quality domestiques in exchange for subpar ones. In a few years it will be ok, but for now it is a loss.
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy

King is a solid domestique working for the leaders.
Well, i would argue a bit about the word "solid", because he was absolutely horrible in every race for Sagan last year, but maybe he is good for first 50kms, before he was dropped

I think that's pretty much it. He works a lot early on and then just sits up. A bit like O'Grady used to do at Saxo.

Thomas Damuseau steps back to CT to ride for Roubaix-Lille. Quite a shame I think, he wasn't doing too bad for Giant and always performed quite well I think.

More news for everyone.
1. Davide Cimolai extends with Lampre for 2 years.
2. Novo Nordisk signs 4 riders, James Glasspool (AUS), Corentin Cherhal (FRA), Simon Strobel, MD (GER) and Gerd de Keijzer (NED). 18 riders for next season.
3. Martijn Maaskant and Oskar Svendsen retire. Svendsen got 5th last year in Avenir, broke VO2 max records and Junior TT World Champ. Lost motivation.

Oskar Svendsen has never been especially motivated. Gotten a long way on talent, but never done the training one have to do to get to the top. He won everything in Norway without doing a single effort until the senior class, and when things starts to turn against you, when you spend a full in-season month partying (like he did in may 2013) and only train 10-15 hours a week (less than half of most pros) you don't stand a chance in the pro peloton.
I think I mentioned the retirement some pages back, but it has not been official until now. Still, it does not come as a big surprise, as he since L'Avenir this year have had 3 training rides in total. |

I also thought he was doing okay, pity to see him drop back to CT but should get his chance to win a few races at Roubaix-Lille.

Maaskant surprised everyone when he finished 4th in his first Paris Roubaix in 2008. He showed that it was not a fluke when he finished 4th in Flanders the year after that. He looked like one of the biggest prospects of cobbled races. Unfortunately he never got back to his old level after a hard crash in 2011. |
