I will change to photobucket.
You cannot longer get a direct link with imageshack without having an account. I have one but this is more complicate now.
Hope photobucket will be easier to handle with and every free user can read the story.

In the first March week the Wildcards for the first GT of the year are announced. I can promise you there are some surprises. But read yourself.

ProTourTeams

Astana
Euskaltel
FDJ
Farnese Vini - Neri
Garmin - Cervelo
HTC - Highroad
Team Katusha
Lampre - ISD
Leopard - Trek
Liquigas - Cannondale
Quickstep - Innergetic
Rabobank
Team RadioShack
Sky Pro Cycling

4 teams are missing there. Ag2r, Cofidis, Movistar and Omega. Except of the new PT team Cofidis the other squads should be strong enough for all PT Races. So this comes unexpected.

Asking for Wildcards

As there are now 6 free slots the chance to get a wildcard is of course quite high. I will present the 10 possible teams, starting with the teams with the best chances.

Colnago CSF

They will get a wildcard for sure. With Pozzovivo and Mollema they had a great duo in the last Giro and they will probably participate again together. Both could get a top5 result. With Modolo they have also a good Italian sprinter, who could take several top5 results in the sprint finishes.

Androni

Another team with very good chances. Scarponi left the team but with Vladimir Efimkin they have a good climber aiming for the top10.
With J. Rodriguez, Weylandt and Loddo they have more riders on a good level.

Skil - Shimano

Riccardo Ricco is still riding for them after missing the Giro in 2011. But he could be the reason for a wildcard. With a bit luck he could even win the Giro. With Serpa, C.A.Sörensen and Kiserlovski he would have a strong supporting team. Van Hummel could do great in the sprints.

Ceramica Flaminia

With Francesco Masciarelli they have a possible top 10 contender. Only problem is that he has absolutely no help in the high mountains. But with J.J.Haedo and Viviani they have two good sprinters.

Team NetApp

Gerdemann and Knees left the team but with Rohregger, Fothen and Wegmann they have still good riders. Also Ciolekand Kluge could win a sprint finish.

Team Geox

With Merino, Eibegger, Valls and J.Moreno they have strong climbers while Pedersen could go for the sprints. Would be a nice addition as they have several young talents.

Saxobank - Sungard

They don`t have a real top 10 contender but with Florencio, Denifl, Puyol Munoz they have riders for the harder stages, while Bos is definitely a good bet for the sprints.

Vacansoleil

With Carrara and Hoogerland they have two top15 riders plus nice support with Marcato and Rabon. With Bozic and Traksel they have also two decent sprinters. But they don`t have the one big name to guarantee a wildcard. So it will be hard as the other teams are strong.

Amore Vita

Well, the team is Italian but their best climber is the Spaniard and former Movistar rider David Lopez Garcia, who could get a top 15. Not very possible that we will see them in May as he is also the only big name.

Cafe de Colombia

Obviously they have big plans. They showed with a stage win in Tirreno Adriatico last year that they can perform well in big races but an invitation would be a big surprise. They also asked for a MSR wildcard without success.
Fabio Duarte is their only good clibmer and even for him a top 15 would be very hard and the maximum.

I think the first 4 teams are sure. The last two slots are close between NetApp, Saxobank, Geox and Vacansoleil, while the last two have just very small chances.

@ lluuiiggii: Hope you can see this logo as it is the first photobucket one.

Yes, can see the logo Smile

Also changing to photobucket, now a loud 'booh' for imageshack

'BOOOOHHHH'

Never realized Saxobank was so down on your game. And about Ricco, indeed, with a bit of luck and *cof cof* 4th *cof* gen EPO *cof cof* he could very well win the Giro.

I just hope the Giro doesn't end up like in 2011, where Nibali dominated. Pfft Just two months to go now. Smile

Team NetApp have an interesting team btw. Smile

Hope so, too. Hope Martin can get on the podium this time. He will be one of the best clibmers but a lack in timetrial. But even last year I would have get ver yclose to the 3rd without this flat stage, where just Martin lost a few minutes.

@lluuiiggii: Former Saxobank is still great as they are nor Leopard Trek.
This Saxobank was the former Cervelo Test Team. So always between PT and CT.

Paris - Nice - Stage 2
Troyes - Dijon
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Paris%20Nice/2-1.jpg
The 2nd stage is for the sprinters. Hopefully Haussler and Hunter can show some nice performance. But it won`t be easy against many top sprinters.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Paris%20Nice/2-2.jpg
3 riders in the break of the day. Mori (Lampre), Frapporti (Farnese) and Mortensen (Vacansoleil).

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Paris%20Nice/2-3.jpg
None of them will be a big danger for the overall after the next stages but as most teams have ambitions today the pace is quite high. Especially HTC for Greipel and Astana for Davis are chasing the group. Of course HTC also wants to defend the leader jersey.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Paris%20Nice/2-4.jpg
A big shock for F.Schleck and his Astana team. With just 14km to go the top favourite crashes. But he can fight back into the peloton and signalized that nothing happened to him.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Paris%20Nice/2-5.jpg
Different with Vansummeren. At the same time Vansummeren felt back together with Rowe. Hopefully he is fit for MSR later.
Also Vaugrenard crashed later and will lose some time in the finish but as said earlier this edition might be too hard for pure puncheurs like him.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Paris%20Nice/2-6.jpg
The sprint starts soon and the group is just a few meters ahead. Hunter is too exhausted and Vansummeren isn`t in the group. So Haussöer has no support left. But he found a good wheel by himself behind Bonnet, who gets a nice speed by Dumoulin. Also the Eisel-Greipel train with an excellent position.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Paris%20Nice/2-7.jpg
And Bonnet is doing it again. AFter winning stage 2 in 2011 he is also winning in 2012. Last year it was his only win in the season. This year he wants to be more successful. Sutton and Feillu complete the podium before Haussler finished on a good 4th.

I think so. I am still editing as it takes some time to open the stage viewer for every stage to get the information.
But so far the plan is:

Tirreno: My own 1998 variant (isn`t even uploaded yet as I noticed as the first stage wasn`t made by me)
Giro: Pellizotti`s variant
Tour: Emmea`s variant
Vuelta: don`t know what version this is but I like it actually.

baia
For me its by far the best pcm10 story in forum, just great roturn..(had to say this)..
Great Giro preview,i can see you do it with love..
Bonnet looks to be in great form,Haussler has hard work there..good luck.

roturn
Thanks a lot. Always nice to hear but I don`t think you have to dodge with your own story. Also a brilliant one.

Nor sure if there will be another report today as football is coming. Leverkusen now, Stuttgart later. Plus the fact that PCM Daily will be down for a few hours tonight.

Pellizotti2
A nice 4th place on the last stage. I'm looking forward to see how my Giro works in career as I have only played it in Stage and Stage Race modes.

Just to say I agree with baia so much, the best story imo on the forum, great updates and there are plenty, every race throughly explained ( if that is the right word ), one word - epic.

Thanks Alakagon.

Decided to make one more today as the Leverkusen match is quite boring Wink

Paris - Nice - Stage 3
Dijon - Nevers
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Paris%20Nice/3-1.jpg
Except of some hills on the first third the stage is for the sprinters again. Just a very small hill on the final 3 kilometer could be a last chance for an attack. We`ll see how Haussler can perform. His fitness isn`t perfect (77) as he is aiming for MSR.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Paris%20Nice/3-2.jpg
Before the stage really begun the first split in the peloton. A heavy wind is going though this region today. Hunter, Vansummeren and Stetina are the 3 Garmin riders there. But also some other big names in the 2nd group with Van Garderen, Casar, Gilbert... So many teams are chasing now.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Paris%20Nice/3-3.jpg
Meanwhile a few riders took the chance for an attack. O'Grady (Leopard), Voss (NetApp), Arvesen (Sky), Stannard (Sky), Jérôme (Europcar), Mol (Vacansoleil), Kondrut (Farnese), Lemoine (Saur), Coyot (Movistar) and Ljungblad (Omega). Some strong riders in there.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Paris%20Nice/3-4.jpg
We haven`t seen him so far in this season. World Champion Fabian Wegmann for his Team NetApp. Unfortunately still in the old WC Milram jersey Wink

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Paris%20Nice/3-5.jpg
RadioShack, HTC and Astana are doing the pace. All of them have a good sprinter and a rider for the overall here.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Paris%20Nice/3-6.jpg
Again Vansummeren is falling out of the peloton with ~20km to go. But he feels better from day to day. Just 3-4 more days until he will be full of power again.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Paris%20Nice/3-7.jpg
The sprint starts soon and Haussler`s position isn`t that good at the end of the sprinters. But there is still a small hill coming.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Paris%20Nice/3-8.jpg
Greipel surprised the sprinters with a long sprint in the wind. But so he had a lightly advance after the hill and none of the others were able to catch him. Haussler on 9 is a bit disappointing but as long as he is doing better in MSR we are happy.
Losers of the day were Casar and Stetina, who lost some time here.

The 4th staeg could be the queens stage of this years Paris Nice. With some hard mountains we hope to get rid of some weaker climbers.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Paris%20Nice/4-2.jpg
4 riders with an early attack. We decided to send Vandervelde into this group as he deserves own freedoms after lots of work for the team. Therefore we also expect his help in the cobbled classics.
The other riders are Tjallingii (Vacansoleil), Moerenhout (Rabobank) and Quemeneur (Ag2r).

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Paris%20Nice/4-3.jpg
Movistar, Liquigas and HTC with the pace in the peloton. Can Martin defend his leader jersey today or will he start to struggle.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Paris%20Nice/4-4.jpg
With 85km to go another attack out of the peloton. Jelle Vanendert (Omega) and Christophe Riblon (Movistar) are quite decent climbers and shouldn`t be allowed to get a too big advance.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Paris%20Nice/4-5.jpg
Meanwhile Vandervelde is on the way to conquer the KoM jersey. This would be a big result for him. And it`s also deserved as he is doing most work in the group.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Paris%20Nice/4-6.jpg
With 30km to the finish they are caught be the two attackers. The advance to the peloton is now at 5min!!! Obviously HTC and Astana didn`t really care for them although they could win the whole race. Honestly I was too much focused on Vandervelde as I expected them to work more ;(

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Paris%20Nice/4-7.jpg
Haussler, Duggan and Stetina are the last survivers next to Sanchez and doing the pace now. A shame that Vansummeren is injured and in a later group again as we could need a rider like him now.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Paris%20Nice/4-8.jpg
The two just climbed the last mountain and will start the descent now with some minutes advance. The stage win is for sure but also the overall?

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Paris%20Nice/4-9.jpg
A great win by Riblon, the next hope for a French winner now. All the favourites underestimated them a lot obviously.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Paris%20Nice/4-10.jpg
And also the next group secures a small gap to the peloton. Vandervelde with a good stage here finishes 3rd. Unfortunately it wasn`t enough for the stage win but still a good result plus the KoM and U25 jersey.
The group around the favourites was much bigger than expected as the pace was quite slow for a long time and so they lose 4'29 today on the first two riders. Igor Anton even lost 2 more minutes for some reason.

The "race of the two seas" leads from the Tyrrhenian to the Adriatic coast of Italy. It`s held parallel to Paris Nice and a great preparation for the first monument Milano San Remo.
Record championis the Belgium Roger De Vlaeminck who won it 6 times in a row from 1972-1977.

After being 7th in 2010, Ryder Hesjedal improved one step in 2011. Hopefully he will be even better this year.
Kessiakoff took the KoM jersey in the end.

The Route 2012 will be the Tirreno Adriatico 1998 with some changes. All routes from stage 2-7 are a day earlier. Stage 1 is missing, while stage 7 is the 2010 stage. Wink
I created these variant stages some time ago for a DB project, but never really played them, so it will be a debut.
The course is for real puncheurs as there aren`t hard mountains and with 2 uphill finishes we can expect a nice battle.

Garmin squad for 2012
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Tirreno/Team-1.jpg
Hesjedal will be our only leader here. He is primarily aiming on the Ardennes this year as he will relinquish on the Tour this year and instead trying something in the Vuelta, where he already was in the top10 in 2010 with the Ardennes and a long Tour in his legs.
Fuglsang was expected to be our co leader but after all his crashes he isn`t in a good form yet. Kessiakoff will be Ryder`s best support but probably also with some freedom. Maybe he can even go for the KoM jersey again.
Farrar is our man for the sprints and will be mainly supported by Maaskant. Pate, Meier and Bobrdige might all try something in a group but always depends on the race situation.

** Farrar, Napolitano
* Bennati, Brown, Boonen

As also in Paris Nice the starting field is extremely strong. Cataldo showed already some form and might be one of the big favourites here to defend his title. But as his brother in France Andy Schleck is the man to beat. But the whole Leopard squad is strong as also Cancellara and Evans were nominated. It will be also interesting to see hilly sprinters like Boasson Hagen, Pozzato or Ginanni. If they survive the hills and collect bonus seconds on some stages, they could surprise the favourites.
Our aim is to get with Hesjedal at least a top10, although he wants the top5 here.

baia
Will be nice to see that variant..good luck.

Tombola
Is Martin not going to ride a "big" race before the Giro?

Martin had already some races with Calabria and Oman.
He will still ride Paris Camambert, Brabantse Pijl, Giro del Trentino and Tour de Romandie before the Giro.

But PN and TA doesn`t really suit him.

The first stage is a possibility for the sprinters to show a good performance. Normally the favourites for MSR should have a good form here, too. Farrar, who won`t ride the classic will try to get a good result.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Tirreno/1-2.jpg
10 riders in the group of the day. Carlström (Sky), Gutiérrez Palacios (Euskaltel), Kadri (Ag2r), Fantini (Acqua), Bewley (RadioShack), Tiralongo (Astana), Kostyuk (Ceramica), Vanmarcke (Omega), Minard (Cofidis) and Quinziato (Katusha).

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Tirreno/1-3.jpg
Especially Liquigas is doing the pace in the peloton. As Kreuziger and McEwen are also helping, the Czech`s form might not be very good as already seen in Lugano. So Bennati and Gasparotto are their leaders here.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Tirreno/1-4.jpg
Of course it`s a Garmin rider on the asphalt again. And no, it`s surprisingly not Fuglsang.
Our Swede Kessiakoff is it this time. Hope he isn`t injured.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Tirreno/1-5.jpg
Some other riders crashed over him. With Lövkvist (Omega) and Da Costa (Movistar) two captains were involved. Also Roulston (HTC) and Belkov (Farnese) there.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Tirreno/1-6.jpg
Unfortunately Kessiakoff seems to be lightly injured as he falls back with 15km to go, when the breakaway was just caught.
He will finish last today.
Obviously we can`t race a race without new injuries.
Must be a problem with the new bikes Wink

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/03%20March/Tirreno/1-7.jpg
Also the hill 20km ahead of the finish was harder than expected. So Farrar wasn`t in the best position when the sprint starts.
Napolitano wins ahead of Cavendish and Ponzi, who improved quite well.
