PCMdaily DB Stat Discussion

sorry but somebody has to say it

Alaphilippe had a great week but is the only one he's ever had. Give somebody an 79/80 just for one week of his life is a nonsense.
Yes, we all like young riders when breakout but I think it's better to keep it cool until he's proven worthy of a such a stat.

Well, it's mostly those minor Cont teams that in some cases have these a little wrong setup.
It's just minor so dont' spend to much time on it. They keep popping up now and then when I visiting a website with better description of the riders. The bigger WT and Pro-cont teams are well covered I believe.

I see if I can dig up some more than this german. Can't think of any at the moment, since as I said they are mostly in the shadow. They pop up now and then in minor races. The minor teams are getting better and better with their websites and the info on them.

Well, personally, I try to pay much attention to these minor teams, so I'd certainly be interested.

I would think of Primoz Roglic f.e.

It's been well explained the system that TankNL uses, Go find his thread for that explanation, it is a very good explanation

TankNL's stats seem to be decent on main stats, but secondary and tertiary stats tend to be off a bit. It has its use, but you need to know how to look at them.

You didn't look at the average because he would be 79 according to sgdanny for his final stats and even at 79 hill, porte wouldn't be better than Contador or guys around the same stats because he's got low backup stats. Backup stats play a big role in PCM

You don't drop Dan Martin because of his crash, as is right, but you do drop Vanendert?

Well Vanendert finished 34th at Amstel and 22nd at LBL, or are you saying that his crash at FW affected him at LBL like it did with Gilbert? But even then his low placing at AG was not great, as he's done well at that race before.

He crashed at Amstel as well.

I didn't know he crashed there, so I guess he worth 79 hill at least.

Vanendert is already 79 hill on PCMdaily DB and it's probably the max he can be considering he didn't show good results because of his crash.

Okay might aswell put my opinion on the table and I still think that riders under 30 shouldn't decline by great lenghts, as fact is that some riders just get better without the rider actually losing his abillities. Though this is the pcm perspective, the one perspective of you guys is that such changes are possible if a rider doesn't perform.

So the best way of solving this is in my opinion to compare former results to new result and find the average stat that the rider needs to do the result in pcm and still be competitive to that of the real world.

An example would be Kwiatkowski being a 81 hill in the db, but his results this year was on 79, which means that I would put him at 80. This means that he isn't as strong compared to last year, but will still be strong enough to deserve 81 again, as Kwiatkowski is likely to deserve that through coming results.

I have included results from Down Under, P-N and Pais Vasco into the comparison. Some will have xx,5 and generally could be either in the end. Before Ardennes is their stat before the races, After Ardennes is the stat given if they were to finish the same in the game and Final Average is the average of these two numbers.

This. We aynot wanthese stats exactly buuut! We want this system! Great idea there @sgdanny!

I think PCM should implement a 3rd stat which is mixed between Mo and Hl.P-N and Catalunya are not that hilly and 77 would be fine imo.And the field in TDU was very weak.

That can be changed in the stage editor and it's basically a percentage of the hillyness and monutainousness (Pfft) of the stage. So it basically exists already.

Just a few thoughts:
Alaphilippe's stats seem to be generally spot on, although I'd prefer to see him on 80 or 79, rather than 78. He showed quite some explosiveness on Fleche, mostly, and 2 2nd place are not luck anymore.

82: Valverde
81: Purito, Gilbert, Martin
80: Kwiatkowski, Gerrans, Moreno, Alaphilippe?
79: Alaphilippe?, Henao, Costa, Porte, Kreuziger, Contador, Nibali, Mollema, Vanendert
78: Gasparotto, Slagter, Albasini, Fuglsang, Bardet, Pozzovivo, Ulissi, others?
