Does he give a flying **** though? He knows Sky will protect him anyway at Tour and I think we know by now he's a superior climber.

To be honest I am with Alakagom here that there is no way Baldy Brailsford will allow his beloved Brad to ruin Froome's Tour campaign. He seems to be enjoying watching and supporting Froome as much as he does Wiggins.
Besides he had no scruples on the track replacing Hoy with Kenny.
I'm disappointed - I think Nibali is looking very powerful and for all the world is looking a deserved Giro winner. But Hesjedal and Wiggins are lost to illness and with some of the big mountains stages under some serious weather danger - we could come to a slightly tarnished victory. I wager that Nibali is ready to absolutely explode when he can in any decent climbing stages we get in the final week.
Uran, Evans, Santambrogio, Gesink, Scarponi, Pozzovivo, Betencur, Majka etc. will no doubt keep trying but I cannot seriously see them damaging Nibbles. Third week powerhouse Hesjedal and TT robot Wiggins had things about them that would worry Nibali.
The Giro at the moment is taking morbid viewing in some ways - I enjoyed the racing finish today with the break vs pack. But I am not really enjoying the general sickness that is hurting the riders and robbing us of better battles.

One think Brailsford is quite good at is being mercenary. I'd be surprised if he got sentimental enough about Brad to give him full support at the Tour. |

@Smowz it's been a great race but I'd agree it's a shame that we didn't get a fully fit trio battling it out.
Having said that Nibali has looked so strong that I doubt it would have made much difference as to who the winner is in the long run. Still plenty of time left of course.

That's just not true. Wiggins lost this Giro at the Time Trial. Way before he got ill.
Maybe he is not as doped as in the Tour. But it is now clear which products Wiggins used to lose all that weight to begin with. Ask Ubeto. |

Yes, I'm already pleasantly surprised by Evans, it's great to see him in top form again. |

Who is a good bet for tomorrow? Sprinters? Breakaway? Could be both. Depends if the sprinters teams work hard enough.
Matt Goss was under the weather today, been feeling it the past couple of days. Hoping he comes good quickly, could have really featured yesterday if not for his health. |

100th career win for Cav, as it seems. Not bad ^^
Does he only have 100 victories? I thought he had a lot more already. So he has less victories than Greipel who celebrated his 100th victory in TDU this year.
As Greipel started real Road Racing in '05 (arguable) it's not that surprising. Plus its not the number but the quality, and Mark's palmares is packed with quality
"shit small races"
Except according to https://www.procyclingstats.com/rider/...el-Details, Greipel 'only' has 86.

Maybe it was including
A. Team Time Trials
B. GC Wins
C. 2nd places to riders that later on got caught for doping
D. National Level Races (the level below 1.2/2.2)
E. All or some of the above
btw, that ProCyclingStats site is great! I like it more than CQ.

Yeah, the 100 includes some NE and U23 events in 05, 06 and 07

Even though that's a hell of a difficult task as I was using CQ very regularly, I agree. Fantastic work.
Their twitter account is incredibly informative as well!

I'm quite sure Cav has more TTT wins as Greipel.
They don't count crits, the Down Under classic for example isn't mentioned. Greipel won it 3 times

For me, I found it has a bit more info on a lot of the smaller North American races, and I like the style and the fact it sort of tells you where that riders specialties are, although they wont be 100% accurate. Ill use both still.
BTW. Greipel's apparently gone ahead in time.

Maybe thats why we've got those god awful "aero road helmets" that look like skateboarding helmets too
Whoever thought of those, and then subsequently thought they were okay should be sent (using the DeLorean) way ahead in time where they wont be able to make that helmet during my lifetime.

I am certainly not claiming that Wiggins lost this race due to his illness. However it would have been nice to see him beaten in the final week decisively.
Evans vs Nibali vs climbers is story now.

Boonen and Petachi also have more victories but their careers started way earlier.
I am also a bit surprised it is "only" 100th victory, i think not caring about shit small races is the reason for it. Sagan has almost 50 already btw.

still stupid they let uran wait earlier in the giro. He could've been a close threat to Nibali.. now he isn't.. thanks sky
this is the 2nd or 3rd time they kept so rigidly to "plan A" that plan B either failed or is too late
I am quite happy they keep messing up year after year. Go home Wiggo, you will not be missed, you can stay there forever.
