Nice win. A much needed one as well. Was very hopeful when seeing the trains. Still not an Aegon one but definitely picking strongest today with Pokerstars struggling.
Thanks for the report! |

First time Degenkolb showed some weakness, still decent 6th place and getting some valuable seconds on Bewley. Nice win for Swift, congrats roturn.
With just one sprinter stage left, it looks more and more promising for me. Still, Swift/Bewley and possibly Cavendish might be the real threat for GC. Let´s see what´s gonna happen tomorrow.
Thanks sgdanny for fast and quality reporting

Congrats roturn, that was a lovely win. Still waiting to see your guys build a train though. Guess it doesn't matter if Swift keeps this up.
And Netia holy shit, every stage one of the only teams able to stick together is awesome.

Meh.
Podium will be thrilling now with riders like Cav not far behind and also 3rd only possible chance as well.
Also Van Der Sanden lost his GC position and only Boom with a top15-20 chance left next to Swift.
Cool to see a power rider such as Golas taking it today. Though the gap from Bewley and Degenkolb is really shit and shouldn't have happened.
Congrats to the 3 winners today. Even though a Qatar race without a Bewley win is weird. |

Wow - that was a turn up for the books. Congrats to Aker and Golas on the victory and well done to Degenkolb and Bewley for the random gap over the rest!

That's better from Guarnieri! A somewhat exciting stage at last, with a good shake up in the GC. Hopefully Guarnieri can climb one or two spots in the epilogoue. Dempster also in a good spot to claim a top 20.
Great win from our friends in Aker as well, congrats to ember!

I sorted expected a breakaway victory from somewhere and nice work from Golas to get some bonus points for Aker, who kinda deserve it as Kristoff has majorly sucked here.
Bewley misses out on stage win but cruicially is pretty much gaurenteed 2nd on GC so not too bad in a sprint race which we know is more of a lottery for him than the cobbles. Swift also should be secure in 3rd, but for Degenkolb it is a major coup having pretty much sealed victory there.
I am defo not going to complain about Cav's series of results and holding a top 5 GC (I expect him to nab 4th on the Epilogue). Holding off MvS, Guarnieri, Ciolek etc is really decent.
Meanwhile young chrono man Norman is in the mix for the young riders bib (I expect Durbridge to nab that), but I am impressed he kept with favourites group.
The chrono at the end is always a tough one to call as so many TTers are all over the place on GC. Conditions could favour early starters.

Nice to have a rider in the break in Vandenbergh at least. Good news also that Sergent lost a few competitors in the front group. Shame that our other decent TT rider Meyer didn't have the same luck.
All our hopes on Sergent now for a decent GC. |

Guys, the chrono is 3,5kms !!! Why everybody keeps talking about some differentials, when the first and last in such a useless 3,5kms long stage will be separated by like 15-20 seconds?
And it cant be called prologue either, Smowzy is right calling it Epilogue.
Great win from Golas for Aker, shame that Albert was not able to keep up with him. We will be glad for someone in top100 in GC, horrible race for us bar that one podium, at least something.
Thanks for the report!

In real life, probably yes. Think it was close to a minute last year though, with arounf 15 seconds between Coppel and Guarnieri (75PRL) then, so it will probably be some GC changes.

Gonna be interesting if the chrono tomorrow is long enough to create any major movements in the GC, I doubt it and I think that Degenkolb has won this already. The sprinter teams lose it for themselves today nice win by Golas tho.

That certainly makes up for Kristoff's struggle in the sprints! Great to see Golas get us a very unexpected win. Thank you for the report, sgdanny.
Degenkolb should be safe for the GC and give Pokerstars a flying start to the season. It has been pretty cool to see Netia-Norske Skog consistently challenge for the top placings, and hopefully for them, Vantomme won't drop too far down, but from 4th and downwards, I expect quite a lot of GC changes after the epilogue. |

Finally Bewley was the fastest man of the day. Moral winner of the day I guess.
Nice to see my sprint train finally showing the strength. Bewley - Howard combo worked out a little bit better this year. Will be interesting to see if Howard is able to help Bewley this year in San Remo, as that is going to be their last race when they are racing together.
2nd place overall here is pretty much secured, epilogue too short to make any difference between Degenkolb and Bewley. As guessed at the start by myself - deserved overall win for Pokerstars and Degenkolb, congrats. Hopefully Howard can do a decent final TT and my great hope is Westley Gough, who could enjoy the best race of his career here. Too bad Danacik was not able to survive in the peloton on the last day.
