Maillet won the 4th stage two years ago. The semi Hill stage.

The main problem in PCM isn't that those breaks survive. It's the struggle to gain time in the final. Machado clearly gained but every time there is an acceleration in front to reduce the numbers they gain it back, which is crazy.

Portos rather weak support here clearly a reason for such successful break as well.

I think that is a point PCM should improve. While Porto may lack support, other teams like my team or Aidan's squad have more than enough climbing goats to reduce the gap to the front and to reduce the group.

disagree...why should you help the clear favourite on that stage of the race? it was strange that the 2 very outside favourite teams helped already...

I would have wanted my team to help chase even if it helped Machado and Martin. Pinot's race isn't with them, but Chamorro and Rodrigues are threats to his potential top 5 and therefore needed neutralising.

Also it could have been a good opportunity to isolate Machado.

That said a high pace by other teams would have isolated most leaders I guess.

So the 2nd tier fight mentioned by jph is the main reason why other team chasing would make sense.

Wow, exciting stage. Will be very interesting to see when Machado will attack the next time!

Gilanipoor still in there fighting for a top 10 which would be fantastic! Good also to se Pakthusov in the break, even though he only managed 7th in the end. Thanks yet again roturn!

Would suck if the teams with the favourite in the lead got help from the other top contenders - that would make having a strong support team basically pointless considering the free support from rival teams. Would be sad to see martin/ricco 'gifting' Machado the win and not challenging him

You could compare it too Froome/Quintana last year, where Movistar helping out Sky in the chase of some semi Gc condenders would weaken their own chances to beat froome - which they sadly were guilty off

But I agree with JPh considering thhr second best riders here, there contribution in the chase surely made much more sense

So then a strong support team is useless if you don't have the top rider. Wink

What a stage! Exciting from the flag drop and massive mix up in the standings.

Congrats to Coldeportes and Chamorro on the victory, but will Rodrigues hold onto the lead for Novatek...?

@roturn huh ? Just pointed out that that it was the better option for Martin/ricco to not help Machado today, if they still have a winning ambition

If machado didnt have the leaders jersey, an other strategy would/should have been used

Great stage, congrats to Chamorro and Rodrigues' teams. A shame it was such a shitshow from my team though. Brenes having an awful day and Signorini going straight past him, why? I'm happy to see Cassidy in the break everyday, but could he at least try for a KOM or just not be fucking shit? An abandon as well to cap it off.

...

Tomorrow will surely be better. The AI has already shown it's a little iffy so anything can happen.

Thanks roturn Smile

That does not make sense, because they are also loosing their spots to breakaway riders...

You cant apply real life cycling to PCM btw, that game is horribly unrealistic and cant reproduce cycling tactics at all, it is just bunch of numbers with random dice roll put together into textures. Pfft

Still going good.

Are you calling Marquez "just a number"? Random dice? Textures? How dare you.
That is outrageous! You take that back, sir!

He is the flesh and blood of our great squad.

But basically, you are correct.

I like how PCM 15 handles breakaways a lot. Not as strict as people thought and not as permissive as PCM 14. Perfect mid path. Thanks for the great reports, it's always so frustrating when a stage doesn't export the results, I know the feel.

I'm afraid I just jinxed it Pfft But you know, even in real life these kinds of races can be won in this way, cycling is so much more '70ish in South America Pfft

Stage 4: Nothing standing out from my team. A decent team performance with Kiserlovski having two helpers later on. Kiserlovski really seems to be lacking the needed punch, finishing at the back of the favourites group. Would have preferred Alizadeh to be a rider staying with Kiserlovski long, as he was the only rider that hadn't lost time on the flat stages.
Stage 5: Haidar Anuawar seemed really well positioned, but only finishes outside the top 20. Is he just that bad or had he spent a lot of energy coming to the front? After the 4th place in the first stage I certainly hoped for more of him in the other sprint stages.
Stage 6: Still makes me happy to see Rodrigues win, even for another team. I hope he can fight the big climbers and keep his position, it would be his first win after his great season at CT with my team. Kiserlovski again with the favourites, but at the end of the group in the sprint. I hope on the uphill finishes his mountain stat will help him to distance some of the other riders. Jang with a great performance, I didn't think he could keep up with the stronger climbers of the breakaway over the last mountain. I hope he can fight some more for the climbers jersey in the next stages. Had he not lost time in the first flat stages, he would now be ahead in the GC aswell, just like his break companions. Having him in the break, gives us the team classement for now though. This is the most likely classification we maybe can defend after last year. Smile

He's already been in more breaks this year than my entire team last season.

That stage sucked. We are 3rd and 5th in GC and have the u25 jersey - all of which is threatened by the breakaway! Yet, my team of mountain goats who are capable of pulling back that 6min gap in 20km, doesn't chase them down? FML

Well, I'm relegating. Hello 30th. Sad

What a huge race for Vontobel this is! Congrats MN. Not much action in this stage, surely Machado is saving the boom for the next 2 days?

Yes a disappointing day of inactivity there, you suddenly look at next two days and wonder whether finale is more deadly.

Rodrigues taking bonifications to keep Chamorra at bay!

Rodriguez hanging on to the yellow jersey, certainly not the stage Machado had in mind.

Gilanipoor just sitting in with the peloton and (hopefully) saves energy to stage 8 and 9.

Not losing time = equals good. Not gaining time = equals bad. Unsure how to feel about that stage Pfft
