So i had some thoughts about Goals and decided to collect them all into one place to get a better understanding of the system. Below is the current list of Goals, where C stands for Counter. Some gaps where the UCI has yet to respond and obviously missing teams who are yet to set goals.
Spoiler Paris-Nice | Top5 GC | Trek | | Tirreno | Stage Win | Bardini | E3 Prijs | Top3 | Trek | | Almeria | Win | Bardini | TDU | Top2 GC | Trek | | MSR | Top3 | Bardini | Catalunya | Top10 GC | Trek C | | San Luis | Stage Win | Bardini C | Tirreno | Stage Win | Trek C | | Qatar | Stage Win | Bardini C | San Luis | Top3 GC | Trek C | | Algarve | Top5 GC | Bardini C | San Luis | Top5 GC | Giant | | Crit Int | Stage Win | Lampre | TDU | Stage Win | Giant | | Langkawi | Top10 GC | Lampre | E3 Prijs | Top3 | Giant | | Oman | Win GC | Lampre | Tirreno | Top10 GC | Giant C | | Qatar | Stage Win | Lampre C | Paris-Nice | Stage Win | Giant C | | Tirreno | Top5 GC | Lampre C | KBK | Top3 | Giant C | | MSR | Top5 | Lampre | Strade | Top12 | Orica | | Langkawi | Top10 GC | Caja | TDU | Win GC | Orica | | San Luis | Top5 GC | Caja | Paris-Nice | Top5 GC | Orica | | Catalunya | Top5 GC | Caja | Tirreno | Top7 GC | Orica C | | Almeria | Top10 | Caja C | Langkawi | Stage Win | Orica C | | Oman | Stage Win | Caja C | MSR | Top3 | Orica C | | Indurain | Top5 | Caja C | Tirreno | Top10 GC | Cannondale | | San Luis | Top10 GC | MTN | Gent | Top5 | Cannondale | | Gabon | Stage Win | MTN | MSR | Top3 | Cannondale | | Almeria | Win | MTN | Catalunya | Stage Win | Cannondale C | | Oman | Top10 GC | MTN C | TDU | Top5 GC | Cannondale C | | Qatar | Stage Win | MTN C | Strade | Win | Cannondale C | | MSR | Top3 | MTN C | Paris-Nice | Top10 GC | Euskaltel | | Limburg | Top3 | VCD | Catalunya | Top5 GC | Euskaltel | | Tirreno | Top5 GC | VCD | Indurain | Win | Euskaltel | | Strade | Win | VCD | TDU | Top10 GC | Euskaltel C | | Marseillaise | Top10 | VCD C | Almeria | Top5 | Euskaltel C | | Algarve | Stage Win | VCD C | Gent | Top5 | Euskaltel C | | Gent | Top5 | VCD C | MSR | Top10 | Astana | | Strade | Top10 | Androni | Gabon | Top3 GC | Astana | | Tirreno | Top10 GC | Androni | Tirreno | Win GC | Astana | | Crit Int | Win GC | Androni | Oman | Stage Win | Astana C | | MSR | Top10 | Androni C | Catalunya | Top5 GC | Astana C | | TDU | Stage Win | Androni C | E3 Prijs | Top3 | Astana C | | Indurain | Top5 | Androni C | E3 Prijs | Top10 | OPQS | | Marseillaise | Top10 | FDJ | Paris-Nice | Top3 GC | OPQS | | Paris-Nice | Stage Win | FDJ | MSR | Win | OPQS | | Crit Int | Top5 GC | FDJ | Tirreno | Stage Win | OPQS C | | Oman | Top10 GC | FDJ C | Catalunya | Top5 GC | OPQS C | | MSR | Top5 | FDJ C | Gent | Top3 | OPQS C | | DDV | Top3 | FDJ C | Tirreno | Top10 GC | BMC | | Langkawi | Top10 GC | CCC | TDU | Stage Win | BMC | | Maxima | Top3 | CCC | MSR | Top3 | BMC | | Gabon | Stage Win | CCC | | | BMC C | | Crit Int | Top10 GC | CCC C | | | BMC C | | Marseillaise | Top5 | CCC C | | | BMC C | | TDU | Stage Win | CCC C | Tirreno | Top10 GC | Belkin | | Limburg | Top10 | ALM | Limburg | Top3 | Belkin | | San Luis | Stage Win | ALM | E3 Prijs | Win | Belkin | | Paris-Nice | Top3 GC | ALM | Paris-Nice | Top10 GC | Belkin C | | | | ALM C | De Panne | Stage Win | Belkin C | | | | ALM C | MSR | Top3 | Belkin C | | | | ALM C | | | | | Marseillaise | Top10 | Cofidis | | | | | De Panne | Top5 GC | Cofidis | | | | | Paris-Nice | Top5 GC | Cofidis | | | | | Nokere | Top10 | Cofidis C | | | | | Crit Int | Top10 GC | Cofidis C | | | | | Gent | Top5 | Cofidis C | | | | | Strade | Top10 | Champion | | | | | Algarve | Top3 GC | Champion | | | | | Paris-Nice | Stage Win | Champion | | | | | Langkawi | Top10 GC | Champion C | | | | | Oman | Stage Win | Champion C | | | | | TDU | Top5 GC | Champion C | | | | | Oman | Top10 GC | Colombia | | | | | Paris-Nice | Top10 GC | Colombia | | | | | Langkawi | Points Jersey | Colombia | | | | | | | Colombia C | | | | | | | Colombia C | | | | | | | Colombia C | | | | | TDU | Top3 Stage | IAM | | | | | MSR | Top10 | IAM | | | | | Omloop | Win | IAM | | | | | De Panne | Top10 GC | IAM C | | | | | Algarve | Top5 GC | IAM C | | | | | Qatar | Stage Win | IAM C |
Tomorrow i will spend some time doing a breakdown of race specific goals, how own set and UCI set goals differ and an overall look at the difficulties of goals. For now though i've got some basic numbers:
PCT
17 Stage Win Goals
5 Win Goals (Race or GC)
5 Top3 Goals (Race or GC)
16 Top5 Goals (Race or GC)
22 Top10 Goals (Race or GC)
1 Points Jersey
1 Stage Podium (Seriously wtf is this goal?)
WT
10 Stage Wins Goals
6 Win Goals (Race or GC)
14 Top3 Goals (Race or GC)
10 Top5 Goals (Race or GC)
11 Top10 Goals (Race or GC)
1 Top2 Goal (Seriously, why not just Win or Top3?)
1 Top12 Goal (Seriously, why not just Top10?)
1 Top7 Goal (Ok this was the counter to the stupid Top12 goal so i'll give it a pass)
Just 1 more win Goal for the WT teams at this point, considering the gap in quality i feel this should be higher (but of course Sky and Movistar and Tinkoff are yet to declare so i expect that to at least double by the end).
PCT teams primarily going for Top10's. Even split between Stage Wins and Top5's. WT much more balanced in goal distribution.
Like i said this is just very basic catagorisation analysis. I will dig deeper and start comparing qualities and things that are slightly more important tomorow. But it's a start and gives an overview to everyone of who is targeting what (and who is paying off the UCI)

Interesting list. I have to admit, I don't give it that much thought. I try look at home races (Italian teams get San Remo goals) and I try to give everyone at least 1 GC, 1 Stage Win and 1 classic result. And well, I only give the cunter goals of course, the other half of the list is beyong my control
And I don't think you can compare CT to WT without also considering the difference in race category.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Going to be my focus area tomorrow is comparing the goals in terms of race catagories. I will probably work on various analysis throughout the season part to provide some serious feedback before Part 2 because something about Goals just feels a bit off to me and hopefully i can quantify that feeling

Well... That explains a lot a pretty annoying system for me, but that is mainly down to how hilariously unbalanced my team is. Generally I think the goal system is good, if a little too hard. I haven't done any statistics, but I imagine the average goal completion is below/around 50%, which means you may as well set 3 ridiculously easy goals and give up on the counters. |

All CT races have the same rules LLS. 6-8 riders regardless of real life rules.
I'm starting to prepare individual schedules, so I'm just checking to make sure this is true because 2014 San Luis startlist seems to have a 6 rider maximum for non-Argentine teams.
EDIT: Same for Langkawi, 6 riders per team

All CT races are 6-8 riders, your choice
WT is the RL number of riders.
And The Schleck Fan, you really didn't have to resend that PM

Nevermind, it's Monday for me and I forgot that in Europe it's not Monday until tonight.
