Martijn is doing awesome so far, wouldn't be surprised to see him in the WT next season. |

Thanks for the comments! The support is amazing! I'm still yet to decide on a team for next season, with quite a few options in my mind. Nothing will be discussed until after Nat Champs

After my victory in Durham, I was the talk of the Domestic scene. I was surrounded by journalists, and I even sat down with ITV for an exclusive interview as part of their evening highlights. Is this what it is like for Cavendish and Wiggins?
The next round in the Tour Series takes us to Stoke, on a hilly course that will certainly entertain the crowds on the circuit. All eyes will be on me to add to the win in Durham, but Simon Yates is also with the squad, and today's course would suit him more.
As the day's break attacked up the road, I moved to look after Simon for the day. I would do as he wishes. If he wanted bottles, I got bottles. If he wanted a high pace being set, I set a high pace. To be honest, I was the most I could do after he sacrificed himself for me in Lincoln.
With 15km to go, orders were given for me to go hard on the front. Simon stuck to my wheel like glue, and soon we had a gap. The remains of the day's break were only 30" up the road, and were soon swallowed up as I pressed on.
6km to go, and it was between Kristian House (Rapha Condor-JLT), Simon and I. Odds were in our favour, but you can never discount the experience of House. I pressed on at the front, putting House under pressure and stopping any attacks from going away.
Entering under the Flamme Rouge, House was a broken man. I told Simon to stay on my wheel, and I gave him the perfect lead out. All that was left was to give our best 'Cavendish/Renshaw on the Champs Elysees' impression. This was my way of saying thank you for Lincoln, and Simon definitely deserved it.

Fantastic win by Simon, and great sportsmanship by Martijn. I know someone whose name also begins with "M" that wouldn't have done the same... |

And another victory for the team. They sure are flying at the moment. If Martijn gets 2nd every time he repays some favours, he will have an amazing season. |

@Martial: Is that person you are talking about called Mark?
@sutty: The main men are peaking at the right times
@mvh: 2nd place whilst a teammate takes 1st would be a great feat to do in every race. We will just have to see if it happens
@Peter: thanks

The next few rounds of the Tour Series did not really suit my style, but I wanted to take part to keep the legs loose. May had been a great month, and I wanted to work for the team, instead of having them work for me every race. It was the least I could do.
The Aberystwyth Round of the Tour Series is a Sprinter's stage on paper, but these short, sharp stages are wide open on the route. The small rises could help with a final lap attack for glory, whilst a break could also go all the way.
Being given a free role for the race, I wanted to stretch my legs as soon as I could. My attack forced others to counter, and a group of 5 were soon to form off the front, with Bibby (Madison Genesis), Partridge (UK Youth) and an American pair joining me.
Tour Series Guest Team Optum took control of the peleton, and the pace was very high. I suffered from mechanical problems and was dropped from the break immediately. So much for my day trying to stretch the legs, as I would now have to spend it in the peleton.
The victory in the end went to Bibby, who soloed away from the day's break with 5km remaining. The break would survive to the finish, as the American pair of Milne (5-Hour) and McCarty (Bissell) outsprinted Partridge. It would be a good night for the Yanks, as Zirbel (Optum) broke away in the last km to take 5th. I finished down in 36th, feeling let down that a mechanical issue had robbed me of another possible high finish in the Series.

It is amazing how one month can differ so much from the previous one. After a fantastic month of racing in May, June has started very badly. I may be writing this from the comfort of my armchair in my flat, but sadly it is in a lot of discomfort and my arm in a sling following a bad crash during a training session today.
Where do I begin? I suppose the start is the best place. Knowing that I had a large gap after the Tour Series Rounds before the National Championships at the end of June, I decided to hit the track and train with the Pursuit Team and keep my form at its peak.
The track was never my strong point, and after the Trail Day I was keen to improve. The morning session went well, and I was feeling good. The times were consistant, and it was great to spend time with the other side of the Developement Team.
It was in the afternoon where it all went wrong. The session would work by lapping the track, and on alternate laps the front pair on the group of 6 would sprint until it caught the group again. When it was my turn, I went off hard, easily beating my partner. Reaching the back of the group, I tried to slow back down to the same rhythm and lost control of the bike.
I hit the boards hard, with my shoulder taking the most impact. I could see that I was cut up down my left side, but instinctively I checked my collarbone. It felt fine, to my relief, but I was in pain in my arm and shoulder.
The x-rays at the hospital revealed the extent of my injuries. The cuts and bruised hip were the least of my worries, as the doctor said I had a small hairline crack in my shoulder blade, as well as trapping a small nerve, which was giving me strange sensations in my lower arm and fingers.
The worst part of the injury isn't the diagnosis - it is the recovery process. All the hospital could do was put my arm in a sling, and it will heal itself in a few weeks. That instantly ruled me out of the final Rounds of the Tour Series, and even put me in doubt for the National Championships. All I could do was go home, feel sorry for myself, get well rested and hope for the best.
Safe to say, I will do all I can to be ready.
