Two questions about the vote, especially for an admin:
1: Where's the best thread to put the poll?
2: Could you (an admin) make a "newsitem" on the Home-page of the site, informing everyone about the poll, when it's up? So we can have as many voting members as possible! |

I mean, sure, the site if CrueTrue's, and the admins kind of run it with him. But if I propose a competition etc, and we're given permission, I figure we're here for choosing a new (or re-electing the old) banner. Would be more democratic for the forum
This ain't a democracy. CrueTrue runs and pays for the site, the votes could overwhelmingly be for one banner and he could ignore this. And he'd be compltely in the right for doing so

In that case, this is all quite useless...
I mean, CT said he didn't care about the banner. So why shouldn't the banner be what most members voted on, then? If people care, they vote, if they don't, like CT, why should it matter what banner it is? Do you know what I mean?

It's not all quite useless. If CT sees a banner here that he thinks is great and should replace the current one, he might do it. The voting might help him seeing what the best banners are. But ultimately, it's up to him whether or not it'll be changed/for which one it would be changed. That's what they mean.

Yeah, I know what they mean. But if he told me he doesn't care about the banner and it's alright to do the competition, I assume it means: do the competition and the winner will get the banner up there. Otherwise he could've said: Let people make some things and I'll decide.
Not trying to argue or anything, just trying to give you my opinion on the matter, and just telling you what he told me. Unless, of course, he does care but he just meant it in another way. In that case, we'll just do the vote and if he cares, he'll say what's what. If he doesn't care, hopefully he'll let the winning banner take its place.

Sorry to have to repeat this but there hasn't been any response to these questions yet, and I have to set up the poll in a few hours. Thanks |

Sorry to be a half hour early, but I feel a headache coming up so I'm not sure whether I'll be around in half an hour for making the poll! Here it is:

Just to clear up some confusion:
Ian Butler wrote:
The competition is not created by CrueTrue or any admin, but CrueTrue gave his okay, so I figure that means he agrees with it. It would be weird if he said: "go ahead", and it would actually mean: "go ahead, I don't care, it won't matter anyway."
I mean, sure, the site if CrueTrue's, and the admins kind of run it with him. But if I propose a competition etc, and we're given permission, I figure we're here for choosing a new (or re-electing the old) banner. Would be more democratic for the forum
I said go ahead, I don't mind getting suggestions for banners. But that does not mean I'll replace the current one. I do see the point about the banner being a little outdated by now, but it won't be replaced unless I see a banner that I really like.
In theory, one banner could win your poll, yet I'd choose another one. It's a guiding / instructive vote - not more than that. That's how far democracy goes when I own the site
So basically, lluuiiggii and Crommy have already expressed my points:
lluuiiggii wrote:

... and to be honest: I don't see any of the submitted banners replacing the current one. They're good, no doubt, but if I'm to replace the banner, the new one would have to be somewhat similar in style. I support lluuiiggii's comment earlier in this thread (that guy is like a copy of myself )
lluuiiggii wrote:
For everyone: if you want to add some riders in highlights, why not do like the current banner and take it from one of the covers of the game? The current one took them from the 08 covers, you could take it either from the 11 cover (then move the polkadots and green jersey closer to Cav so that it fits the 110 px) or, perhaps better, since the 11 cover looks too much like a real picture to be mixed with ingame screens, the PCM10 cover. Cav and Hushovd fighting it out to the line (only in the picture though ), just like the old days |

Okay, point taken
I will close the poll down, then? Maybe people could just make and suggest a banner whenever they feel like in this thread, and maybe one time you'll see one you feel like is worth replacing the old banner with?
Anyways, sorry to have been such a bother over this matter, then. But I was just trying to do something for the site! Thanks for clearing it up, though.

Why would you close the poll down? As said, I think it's a fine idea, and I appreciate the submissions so far. They look great, but are not in the style that I'd put at the top of the site.
It's nice to see that the members agree, according to your poll |
