First-time Winner at Amstel Gold Race!
This years edition of the Amstel Gold Race was a thrilling one. Through muck and rain the riders kept going and this year a surprise winner took the victory.
With 78km left Gasparotto, Ballan and De la Fuente attacked creating a small gap to the peloton. Astana was one of the strongest teams in the race so they did much to try and slow the chase down and it worked. With 10km left the lead riders had a 3 minute lead. They played cat a mouse and they nearly gave up their lead, but Gasparotto had just fell back from his turn on the front when he made a big accelleration catching the other two off guard. Ballan caught back but couldn't pass Enrico. David De la Fuente finished 3rd with Samuel Sanchez finishing 48 seconds behind him in 4th.

La Fleche Wallonne makes Astana happy!
Just 4 days after AGR, Astana is again thrilled with the result. This time Alexandre Vinokourov won the race, thanks to his brilliant timed attack in the last 2km. He sped away from Frank Schleck and Ryder Hesjedal, and held them off winning by 17 seconds to Frank (2nd) and 19 seconds to Hesjedal (3rd). Gasparotto showed his AGR victory was no fluke however as he finished 8th here only 28 seconds behind his team-mate.
Obviously it would be nice for Astana if they could pull the team hat-trick at the Ardennes classics, but most think there are too many hills for Vino.

LBL Produces Another Surprise Winner
With this years classic season being very different from most, it was almost no surprise at all that a rider, a heavy underdog came away with the win. With With Astana winning the first two classic races it was time for another team to win, but a French team? Yes! John Gadret broke away with 11km left in the race. Everyone assumed he would be brought back so when the time check with 5km to go read 1:12 it was a shock to everybody.
Astana drove the peloton really hard, but then on a narrow bend Andy Schleck tumbeled bringing down most of the pre-race favourites, like Hesjedal, Wiggins, Velits, Kloden, Gerrans, Gasparotto, Anton, Uran, Rodriguez, LL Sanchez, Sagan and Kolobnev.
With that accident Gadret pretty much had it sealed. He held back his tears until he went round the final corner and saw the finish line. Astana still ended strong with Kreuziger 5th and Vino 8th.

Tour du Finistere
My Plan: I want to help Turgot in this race. Survive and possibly go on the attack if the opportunity shows itself.
The day was very un-eventful and the break was swallowed up close to the 20km mark.
Clearly Traksel is on form in the early season because he's done well in other races, is leading the CT Tour and has the most wins of all riders in the Pro Continental Tour.

East Midlands International CiCLE Classic
My Plan: I want to test myself on the cobbles again. I think Chavanel and Gaudin will ride the strongest for us so I think a break opportunity may become available for myself.
The race plan didn't go my way and instead Cyril Gautier was able to go in the break. He solo-ed for a very long time today.
Here's Gautier still all alone on the first cobbles section. In the distance you can see the Yellow Mavic Car at the back of the peloton.
Gautier was doomed all day though as Landbouwkrediet had chased him all day long, to set up an attack for Hans Dekkers, the teams strong man with an okay acceleration. Definitely a dangerous rider.
Sprint starts and two riders are clearly contesting for the win, while I am holding a decent position in about 20th.
Crossing the line is Paul Voss, giving the British team Endura the win at one of their home races. Amorison finished 2nd.
Chavanel takes home a podium spot for the team, a good result to be honest, but whats that green thing in about 10th position in a cobbles race?
Results:

David's Blog
Finally I've had time to write after all my summaries of the races I rode the first half of this season. I think that my season so far has been a little disappointing and I hope I can get better results in the 2nd half of the year or else I might lose my contract at the end of the year. I would say my first race the GP la Marsellaise went alright. Obviously through this first half Gautier has been favoured over myself to go in the break but hopefully that can change.
I would say my time in Oman was pretty poor. I think I could have done better, the only positive wa my TT which I thought was very good.
OHN was good for me, I thought. I had no real cobbles results to base my performance so to finish the race was an achievement.
The last 5 classics I rode in the firts half I thought I did very bad. Clearly my legs aren't used to this pace, but I wa sexpecting better from myself. Midlands was a good race witth cobbles and that really the only good result of the 5 classics I rode.
2nd Half Race Schedule
These will be all the races I will ride up until season's end. I'm looking very much forward to some of these races. First off I will be in the Alpes doing some climbing training at altitude, before I head off to my first race.
15/05-21/05-Tour of Japan
22/05-ProRace Berlin
6/06-Ryedale Grand Prix
14/06-19/06-Tour de Beauce
18/07-East Yorkshire Classic
03/08-Urkiola Igoera Subida Urkiola
25/08-GP Ouest France-Plouay (pending wildcard)
10/9 & 12/9 GP de Quebec & Montreal (Pending Wildcard)
12/10-Japan Cup
Personal Goals
For the second half of the season, I want to win one stage/race and get Top 10 in the GC at the Tour de Beauce. I think this is possible. But I also want to do well at Quebec and Montreal if the team gets Wildcards for those races.

Nice Top ten! I'm liking the schedule for the scone half. I assume the Beauce and Japanese tours are made by you, or are they in the db? |

I didn't make them! SN made the Tour of Japan and Kissaha made Beauce but I just added them to the db.
And thanks. Hopefully David can improve although the evolution speed is 0.414235

@hellboy-Thanks. It will hopefully be the stepping stones of David's season. And about the radiation I dont think that will be a problem. The Jetstream is carrying (for the most part) away from Japan and sending it towards North America. But we have brought non-contaminated, non-parishable foods from France with us just in case
@Alakagom-Thanks.

Thanks everyone, and also sorry for not updating in a while, I had a busy week. Signed and registered for Drivers classes, partied, hung out with friends and played sports outside so sorry 'bout that.

I find it very cool to be selected for a race in Japan. Sure the flight was very long and like usual the airplane food was below par but I've never been to Japan before so this is something new for me. I can't wait to do some exploring, like my French ancestors and hopefully get aquianted with sushi. They say some cities never sleep, and I think Tokyo atleast is one of those places.

Tour of Japan Stage Prologue
My Plan: Today is a very short prologue. Maybe a little too short for me, but Arashiro could very well take the win. I think the whole team knows to work for Yukiya when possible considering this race means so much to him.
With not much of a camera crew to see the action it was hard to find many pictures worth using in my race entry so I only chose this one. Todays ride was very bad and I lost time which didn't need to be lost today. I am the team leader for the race this year because the team wants to see what I can do now. A couple of my team-mates did well however.
