Btw. this (Norway poor girl) sadly happens several times a year in Czech republic, Slovakia too, also with little children, many times it is even parents who murder the child...

In some parts of Australia, it has to be almost impossible to reveal this as a lie, hasn't it?

Well, you have to kind of ask why they would go camping in the outback with a 2 month old baby. I don't really know if I believe it. It's one of those things where you either do, or you don't.

On the norwegian girl: Norway (or most of the world) isn't USA, so you can't really compare it. Yes, in NY it would be asking for it, but places like Oslo (and scandinavia in general) are pretty safe compared to that, and it's quite normal for teenagers to walko home alone. Therefore it's making headlines as it is a breach by someone on our sense of safety.
Our mindset is simply different from those in USA, as we don't encouter the same dangers as they do in regards to our childrens safety.
I really hope that she has just run away from home, but I highly doubt it

You just should always be careful. Any teenage girl where I live probably wouldn't get kidnapped either, but you should just be careful. I guess in Norway they've never heard of curfew for those kids.

Now thats a generalization
You yourself said it happens in America much more, so Americans must not have heard of a curfew either...???
The fact of the matter is this tragedy happened. Its not as common as it is in America or other countries, I think we should leave it at that. Right now this conversation is on the path of becoming "well my country is better so it happens less etc.".....

American teens know about their curfew I'm sure, they're just stuck up and ignorant.
And when I said midnight, I didn't mean "Midnight" I meant, "the middle of the night" which was the first dialogue used.

Being a young girl alone on the streets in the US is like playing russian roulette i guess..
More poor people, more criminals, more crime..
Capitalism at work
Nah, don't worry, they've the death penalty there, at least in some states, no criminal would dare doing such a thing in those conditions.
Oh wait...
Btw, was there really less crime in the former communist countries ? Me's got doubts.
Who gets the death penalty? Mainly poor african american/hispanic young men who have been involved in burglaries gone bad.
Why are the penalties for people who fraud millions of dollars way lower than for rape and murder?
1. That is not true. Who told you this info? It's the stereotype, but not usually true.
2. Because taking someone's life is more important than money.
saying "Mainly poor african american/hispanic young men" are the majority is not correct. The "men" part is correct (99%), but the demographic breakdown shows that the majority of those executed are white.
Starting in 1977, there have been 700 Caucasian (56%), 424 African Americans (35%) and 96 (8%) Hispanics as of 2010. If you juxtapose the demographics of the country as a whole and the demographics of those who have been executed then there is the troubling trend that I believe SweatyViking was getting at. As of 2010 72.4% of the population in the US was white with 12.6% black. If the death penalty was applied in an equitable way you'd expect the statistics to more closely resemble each other. Minorities, particularly African Americans, are dis-proportionally punished with execution.

Maybe it's because they make up most of the population of inner cities. Therefore more crime.

However, I find it dubious that you say: I am a boyfriend instead of saying: I have a girlfriend. It's like your covering something up |
