Bernal illegitimate TdF winner. No way he would've gotten that gap on the Iseran if that had been the line, or kept that gap into the finish.

If they give stage finish time bonuses to Bernal there will be a riot.

In what world can you just retroactively say that times and the stage placings are taken at some point 20 minutes ago and call it a day? Riders raced that climb thinking there was another. For instance Kruijswijk might have gone if he didn't want to save his teammate as long as possible.
Very poorly done. As Phil Ligget rightly (!) mentioned, the broadcasters knew there was hail even before they reached the top. if something was gonna be done, it should have been done then and not halfway down the descent.
Egan Bernal will win this TDF on a technicality.
It's weather. Hope might have been to get it fixed in time.
Sometimes it doesn't work. Yes it sucks but nothing to do against. |

Wait so they're taking times from the climb before the descent?

Let's be honest. Good decision seeing some images.
There are more important things.
Good decision, but way too late. They should've made it an hour ago and announce to let the race finish on the Iseran.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Ride this stage again tomorrow, or don't let it count at all.

Thats some bullshit. You either cancel the whole stage or neutralise the descent and keep racing up to Tignes. You cant stop the clock |

Thomas is likely to be livid.
The whole point of sending Bernal up the road was to force everyone else to chase so Thomas could smoke them on the finish climb.
This is going to create problems within Ineos for sure. |

I understand the necessity to put safety first, but handling it this way pretty much makes the entire stage (and the eventual GC) illegitimate.

Would be more fair to just cancel the stage completely then. Not just take the time at a random place during the stage. I mean, sure, Bernal attacked, but there's probably riders that would've closed that gap, partially or completely, had they known it would finish on that mountain. |

There most certainly would have been. Kruijswijk still had a teammate because he was probably saving himself for the final climb. You can't just pretend a climb that wasn't the final climb was the final climb after the fact. That's not how racing works. They've just gifted Bernal tons of time.
