Interesting, didn't think that South Africa would dominate so much there, I thought Seychelles would have a chance. But anyway very good round for me, last round looks a bit tricky again.

I may have answered Seychelles but I told cunego that South Africa would be what everyone picks lol. To be fair, counting black and white, South Africa does have one more colour than Seychelles

Just fyi, I won't be home at the deadline tonight, so the final score will be posted a few hours later. The inbox is still open until then for those who haven't answered yet; PM reminders have been sent. The distribution of answers is decent so far, not the greatest to go out on, but way better than what I had as a worst case szenario

I'm with stupid 2021 - Game 1, Round 5
After the first 5 (non-5 point attempt) answers, 4 of the 5 questions had at least 3 or 4 same answers and I was on the verge of cancelling the round and starting with new questions, but luckily over time I got more variety. While all questions had top answers that gave a decent amount of points, only one stood way above the other options, which we've had before so I'm at peace with how we (or rather, you) concluded this first game
I had a lot of fun hosting, but I also can't wait to jump in as a contestant. Hope you guys enjoyed it as well (looking at how everyone stayed active throughout, it seems that way) and I hope you continue to participate in the next games as well. With all that said, here are the final results of this round:
1. Name a fish.
The Shark took the crown with 8 points. I was a bit torn about Vali's answer of Great White Shark, but since quadsas went with Hammerhead Shark in his 5 point attempt and no one else was this specific, I decided to count it as a seperate answer.
Salmon gave 3 points, as did Clownfish, funnily (ha, get it?!) mentioned by jandal7 in their 5 point try, Nemolito in their stated (and succesful!) attempt to foil someone else's 5 pointer, and kandesbunzler26 in their regular attempt. The Goldfish was the only other fish to be named more than once (twice).
Spoiler Shark | 8 | Clownfish | 3 | Salmon | 3 | Goldfish | 2 | Catfish | 1 | Great White Shark | 1 | Hammerhead Shark | 1 | Seabass | 1 |
2. Name a bird.
This was the question for which I considered excluding an answer the most, and I should have: The Eagle was named 12 times, the Pidgeon twice and that was it for more than 1 point. Not the distribution I want to see, but for what it's worth, none of those who did not answer Eagle would have won this round if they had, so it wasn't the ultimate backbreaker. Still, not a great question by me.
Spoiler Eagle | 12 | Pidgeon | 2 | Cardinal | 1 | Chicken | 1 | Hummingbird | 1 | Kea | 1 | Kiwi | 1 | Parrot | 1 | Stork | 1 |
3. Name a reptile.
The Crocodile was the most valuable answer and got you 8 points, but there was some decent other answers. The Snake was mentioned 4 times, Lizard and Turtle 3 times each. And then Nemolito struck again to ruin quadsas' 5 pointer by picking the Iguana, which left only jandal7's Mark Zuckerberg as a 1 point answer, the first time all game this has happend.
Spoiler Crocodile | 7 | Snake | 4 | Lizard | 3 | Turtle | 3 | Iguana | 2 | Mark Zuckerberg | 1 |
4. Name a mammal.
As I mentioned earlier, 4 of the first 5 PMs included the Human as the answer for this question, but in the end, this ended up providing the most 4+ point answers. Human still is the top answer, but only for 7 points, followed by Dog for 5 and Elephant for 4 points. Among the 1 point answers, quadsas went with the, from a certain perspective, most obvious answer in Ur Mom, while jandal7 simply named themselves, which I guess we just have to take their word for it.
Spoiler Human | 7 | Dog | 5 | Elephant | 4 | Bear | 1 | jandal7 | 1 | Lion | 1 | Ur Mom | 1 | Whale | 1 |
5. Name an insect.
This was kind of a surprise to me: The Ant dominated this question for 9 points, the second-most of this round. The Bee at least gave you 5, while the Fly, which I expected to be way up there, was only mentioned twice. At least we got a Pokemon in here as well!
Spoiler Ant | 9 | Bee | 5 | Fly | 2 | Bumblebee | 1 | Caterpie | 1 | Mayfly | 1 | Spider | 1 | Wasp | 1 |
Standings
I would have liked to keep the tension a bit more, but the round rankings give away the overall rankings because Croatia14 has done it again! While not with a perfect round, he wins his fourth consecutive round, this time joint with Kiserlovski01 and 41 points! Congrats to both!
Ripley builds on his fourth place from last round and finishes third here with 38, ahead of Shonak (who also finishes with his best round) and knockout, the previous and as you can already tell also final 2nd place overall, both with 37 points. It's very close with four more contestants - df_Trek, Bikex, TheManxMissile and alexkr00 - seperated by only 3 more points, then there's a bit of a gap.
At the bottom, we have 2 failed 5 pointers and the one who brought them down, with quadsas, jandal7 and Nemolito, and also SSJ2Luigi, who missed this round.
On to the final overall rankings. Croatia14 finishes with 164 points, 5 points ahead of knockout (159), a worthy winner but also a strong runner-up, both with only one subpar round. There's a sizeable gap behind them, where in contrast things are as tight as they could be.
In fact, tied for 147 points, we have a trio that shares third place: Marcovdw, Vali and alexkr00, who jumps on the podium at the last second. And not only that: FreitasPCM and Ripley share the sixth place and are only a single point behind those three (164)! Bikex follows with 144, then Kiserlovski01 with 143, meaning that 7 riders ended up with only 4 points between them after 25 questions! Quite remarkable, if you ask me.
Then we have a bigger gap to kandesbunzler26 (131), who leads the midfield ahead of baseballlover312 (121) and round 1 winner Nemolito (118). jandal7 occupies the last spot after two 5 point rounds in 4 attempts, quadsas did not achieve that feat but came close twice and finds himself in second-to-last place.
Once again, thanks everyone for playing along. Croatia14 would now be the host for the next set of rounds, if he wants to. If not, knockout would be next in line. You can find the Excel file I used that automatically calculates the points for each answer here, in case you'd like to use that.

Not my best showing, but I'm just getting warmed up. Gonna have to try a little harder in Game 2 I guess!

Thanks for this fun game, cunego! Congrats Croatia!
I simply picked the first (or sometimes second) answer which popped into my head. The only thing I googled in these five rounds was the colourful flag, so maybe that question was too specific.

Wow, i did not expect this, especially after the cycling start where I thought I might have an advantage. Turns out that it's good to be stupid, I guess, looking at the other categories.
Thanks for the great organization, cunego59. I'd be happy to start another round. What do the others say? Start soon with another round or start again in a couple of months? |

Why on earth did I have to be that specific?
In the end it didn't change anything and I'm very happy with 3rd, thanks a lot for hosting this one Cunego!
@Croatia: I'd say we should keep going (if you want to obviously), as currently there is a nice number of participants and who knows what happens in a few months.

I thought Lion and Spider would have more answers, honestly. Genuinely was about to say ant but decided to go against it. Oh well, did not think properly this time out. Fun game, nonetheless, I think we should keep the momentum going and start the next round soon as we had a decent number of participants. So let’s go with the flow. |

had too many weak rounds...very disappointed in particular by cycling one where I was sure about my answers...got major of points in the last one just in time to reach safe-zone
thanks Cunego for hosting this, and looking forward to the next game!

I assume Nemolito was trying to ruin a river for me with Kiwi, so screw you I can ruin it perfectly well for myself!
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."
