Tour de France 2017 | Stage 4 | Mondorf - Le -Bains - Vittel

Pretty awful sprint by some guys. Demare, Sagan and Cav all with dirty moves. At least I am glad that ASO gives penalty on Sagan for his move on Cav, since that resulted in a crash. DQ would have been a too hard, imo.

Following PCS he is down to 15 Points, which means he lost his points from today and another 35 points penalty (he had 50 after yesterday). Pretty interesting decision. I bet they wanted to make the fight for green more interesting. Last year he won with 250 points in front of the 2nd ranked Grin

He won 15 at the intermediate sprint, so apparently 50 points penalty plus no points for the finish obviously.

Mark Cavendish to Peleton magazine :
Mark Cavendish on Stage 4 crash at #TdF2017 - "Injury-wise I'm going to go and get it checked out. I will definitely need stitches in this finger, it's bleeding a lot. With the shoulder, it might be something to do with a previous injury, it's sat backwards so I'm not sure if I've done something to the ligament. I'm not a doctor but from the feelings I'm not optimistic."

"I was just following Demare round, and then Sagan just came over, I get on with Peter well but I don't get it. If he came across it's one thing, but the elbow? I'm not a fan of him putting his elbow in like that. I get on with Peter, a crash is a crash, but I'd just like to know about the elbow."

Don't know exactly why Cav should be at fault. He was from beginning the most far-out rider and followed Demare's slipstream, being eventually on the same line as Sagan seconds before the crash. They ended up moving from one side to another, so he had everybody had to adjust until Sagan put him eventually into the barriers.

Wow, that's harsh but ASO shows some major balls.

Justified but why the sudden change now I wonder. It sends the right message as it will teach him and everyone else to not do sketchy shit like that again.

Overhead view is not kind to either Demare or Sagan.

Demare nearly took out Bouhanni by veering across the road through a gap that wasn't really there. He's clearly well past Bouhanni at that point and probably already put him out of his mind, but that is a bit reckless.

Looks like a different story with Sagan. Cav is coming past Sagan with plenty of room and Sagan tries to block Cav off. Unfortunately he is too slow and Cav is already between him and the barrier, and moving a lot faster. Sagan gives Cav nowhere to go. 100% Sagan's fault for moving across the road recklessly, hence the apology and the penalty. No other choice but DQ imho, but since I like Sagan I'd be happy with him staying in the race and having to work much harder for green.

I'm undecided about the elbow. I think it's just an instinctive reaction from Sagan to try and keep Cav behind him, but Sagan needs to explain it because it doesn't look great, on top of the rest.

"Points from today" does not mean just the points from the finish Pfft

Sagan officially DQ.

Going to work out soon, if Sagan is truly DSQ i have some proper anger to work out.

Why did they initially give him an 80 points penalty if they are sending him home now? What happened in the last hour that influenced the decision?

Commissonaires are not the organizers tho. We had that already at the Giro few times.

If Sagan is DQ'd then why is Kristoff not announced winner?

It seems a bit weird, why they first do it now...

That is better no double standards from ASO. They only allow French dopers to sit in race and after retirement come back as heroes.
