PCT or WT - Current Standings
Seems like no more changes on this vote, so we close it with a tight decision. We will focus on building up a Pro-Conti-Team together!
Germany - Riders Selection
We got a lot of ideas from Jandal7, trekbmc, sutty68, the_hoyle, HuDCC and Ian Butler! Please check the discussion and reasons the posts before for the riders as well as the reasons you guys gave us to sign them.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some riders I have in mind will supplement the list:
Marcus Burghardt: Great experienced rider from BMC, could help us a lot at the cobbles and in sprinters races, he brought the best of the best in the final on different races and terrains
Paul Martens: not a rider for victories in the World Tour, but could achieve us some great results on PCT status (especially in hilly sprints), similar to Geschke looking at the hilly sprints (would go as captain or Co-Captain)
Marcel Meisen: very well cross cyclist, decent in racing for BKCP on the road, experienced in riding with talents there, could be a really well domestique on the street (flat, cobbled races)
Fabian Schnaidt: Good results as sprinter in the CT, retired after getting no contract at PCT or WT level, we could be an interesting chance for him
Alexander Krieger: sprinter, decent sprints as Team Stuttgart captain on CT-Level, signed with our Developement-Team, but could be an option for us as well
Jan Dieteren: developement team rider (came from Stölting this season), surprised in Frankfurt and Taiwan, solid sprinter

It's funny how everybody missed Burghart until Croatia got it, but it still has the most votes.

Well we can't miss anybody.
What, we needed Degenkolb, Kittel and Martin!
My next custom team in pcm is made. but yeah, you're right it would make a very interesting, but reasonably strong team. I might actually do that...

My votes are in. A lot of riders to pick from, however, it is clear that some will not be available due to their commitments to new teams etc

I wanted to put in anybody you suggested if there is a chance of getting him.

I guess they would be one of the top ones, but they would still be worth that division.
and it's funny how Burghardt has the most despite everyone missing him...

Germany - Riders Confirmation
Long list of riders here...so we cut it out to ten riders. The first rider to sign is the winner of the vote, Marcus Burghardt. His experience and lead-out abilities will perfectly fit to our team as he could play the role as the road captain.
Behind him 9 riders are all together in a one-vote-diffference group:
I would like to choose Rick Zabel, Patrick Gretsch and Julian Kern out of this group. Patrick and Rick are in a secondary role in their team, so they could get a chance in oour team. Patrick can go for victories at Time-Trials and smaller tours, Rick will get his chances as a talented sprinter.
The fourth spot will take Julian Kern. He is a talented guy puncheur, who didn´t develope at AG2R how they hoped for. Because of getting no contract on WT or PCT-Level, he planned to finish his career after last season. Why don´t give him another chance?
| Frank Schleck | Leader | | Marcus Burghardt | Co-Leader | | Bob Jungels | Co-Leader | | Rick Zabel | Talent Free-Role | | Patrick Gretsch | Pro-Domestique | | Laurent Didier | Pro-Domestique | | Julian Kern | Domestique | | Alex Kirsch | Domestique |
Paul Martens, Simon Geschke and Silvio Herklotz are added to the list after the country-votes.
Dominik Nerz and Bjorn Thurau missed out due to their signings with Bora-Argon 18, where they signed leader or co-leader roles. MTN-Qhubeka refused to let Gerald Ciolek go, his victory at Milan-San Remo was the most outstanding victory for them, and he presents the glory of the team.
Contact Trip #3 - the Netherlands
Adrie is leading our trip to the Netherlands. Take a deaper look on the talents, Adrie has a lot of knowlegde here. Maybe we find some talents in their Conti-Teams (if Roompot didn´t take them), or one or two WT or PCT proven riders...
We think about taking 3 riders from the Netherlands.
Your Task
Suggest riders from the Netherlands!
Explain why we should sign them and why they would like to join our team!

So... Netherlands!
Initial thought is Hoogerland, but I believe he is close to signing with Roompot. Same with Theo Bos, who I think has agreed to sign for MTN.
Dylan van Baarle - Young up and coming rider.
Moreno Hofland - I think he could lead in the sprints
Kreder Brothers - All could do a good job for the team in different domestique roles.

Kreders are not all brothers actually. Nevertheless would be a good suggestion.
I'd also like to suggest Dennis van Winden, who would ride for Synergy, but should be able to do a step up. A good domestique on the flat, and a good time trialist.
Mathieu and David van der Poel should, as sons of Adrie, definitely be in. Mathieu is an incredible talent, while David would make a good help.
Karsten Kroon could be lured out of retirement. Not only an excellent captain, he is also strong on the cobbles and hillier terrain, and his palmares includes a 2nd place in the Gold Race and a 4th in De Ronde.
Jetse Bol should also be a good rider for the team. You might remember him from his almost succeeding attack in Tours, and he should be a good help on the flats.
Rob Ruijgh has a very good history. Has shown to be capable of top-25 in the Tour and should be a good climber.
Thomas Dekker may have a dodgy past, but should be a very useful help in the time trials. Maybe it's worth awaiting his hour world record though.
Wim Stroetinga is a good sprinter, who won 4 stages in Olympia's Tour last year. Also has a past at Milram in the ProTour and should make a good addition.
Steven Lammertink is considered a good talent as well. He can both do time trials and sprints and should develop in a good ride. Also Dutch u23 ITT champ.
I hope that's enough

They are related, but Wesley is a nephew of Michel and Raymond.

Well I've got a name but he'll only want to come if we make him our main sprinter. Nothing is decided yet so I'm gonna opt him: Barry Markus.
Another bet is Hofland, but I'm not sure they'd come to PCT. Though it's not certain they won't, too. |
