Nice move by Sagan to escape the falling Veelres. This was serious dumbness from Cav, i am really not sorry to call him dumb few days ago. Instead of coming around, he bullied his way through Veelers.
Veelers seemed to be distracted by a slipped gear or something (?) just before which meant he was only going down when Cavendish lent on him a split second later.

Renshaw got thrown out for bumping Dean. Cavendish takes Veelrs out. If that doesn't warrant a dq than I don't know what does warrant a dq.

Totally no intention of Cav
NOT smart of veelers to drop himself out just in the middle of the peloton
It's totally normal when you see your sprinter pass left, you move a little right. He didn't even move that much, it was Cav who moved a lot to the left.
Clearly dangerous sprinting IMO.

At full speed switching the sides? Hell yes if he would have gone right he would have taken out Cavendish..
You stay where you are so the others can avoid you instead of trying you to avoid the others..

Bumping like that into a leadout rider is not good because those aren't used to bumping like that.
You see those bumping when the sprinters are trying to get a nice backwheel but not at full speed but 5km to go or so and not bumping into leadout riders.
I would wonder if that isn't a sent off.

Just like to add that there was a dreadful lead-out from OPQS. Seemed as if they got bunched out and nobody tried but Steegmans to help Cav. Just saw Reza got 8th, brilliant job from him too!

This.
Slowing down like that in a mass sprint. What the hell was he doing?
Doesn't mean Cav had to go the left there. I assume he saw Veelers there, so he just had to wait 1 more second, but he didn't want to, because he was to far in the back.
That's his problem, but it shouldn't mean he may suddenly go the left without having place there.
