I had done the Albi TT some time ago for Squire's 2007 TdF story, but your version probably is several times better (especially because in TTs I believe the graphics are much more important, since you see the same stuff over and over again, thus you can 'appreciate' the graphics more than once, differently than most RRs)
Tried the 3rd Rio stage yesterday, it was pretty cool other than the fact that Froome won Btw, I'd agree more that the finish classification should be "Mountain" (from the flat finish, since it finishes on the flat), instead of "Hill". Hill afaik is for when the stage actually finishes on top of a hill; if it's a hill stage with flat finish, then "flat". If it's a mountain stage with a flat finish (this case, even if the game disagrees), then "mountain". Unfortunately that doesn't change the game's view on the stage (keeps as hilly instead of mountain), but it might also make the sprint start later perhaps.

I'm sorry about the Froome win, must be a DB related issue.
To be honest I have no clue about the (second) finish option. Always choose what the stage data told me cause fear a change can have impact e.g. on the sprint/acceleration weighting...
If I understand you correctly and it's just about the start of the sprint, I'm right with you and will switch that!?

Actually, the finish type is related to the points/money/etc the game will give to the first riders, according to the classification .xml file of the race. But I believe it can have an effect on when the sprint start, since I've seen flat stages ending on a climb with sprint starting at 1,5 kms for example. Not sure how much it'll change in this case, but I guess it'd be better to have the correct finish type

@arma:
Thanks so much and all the best for your ongoing effords to fill the america tour calendar.
@lluuiiggii:
Not sure... the .xml can still be edited by the databaseur what shouldn't effect the stagebuilding, or is it very limited?
Will test and compare the effects of changes done to the finish attributes ingame. Would be nice to influence the lenght of a sprint that way without blowback.
Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and insight knowledge. |

Done the finish type testing.
Enviroment for the brief field research was:
Database: Realname Cyanide
Patch: 1.4
Modus: Stage race -Tour do Rio
Stage: Tour do Rio 2012, Stage 3
Três Rios - Teresópolis, 118.10 km - Download Each time restarted with the same savegame. First two stages of the tour were quick-simulated and resulted in no significant time gaps.
Let my team go with 99% and keep position.
Tested 3 times hilly, 3 times mountain and 2 times flat as the second finish option (in the stage editor) ingame.
My interpretations of the observations and results:
It seems to make no difference at all!
No remarkable difference in cyclists behaviour or race dramaturgy.
No remarkable difference in the results.
Sprint starts always with quite accurate 2,8 km to go.
Named favs stays the same, too. |

Well, as I said, the difference should actually be in the points given, etc. For example, in the TdF, having a "hill" finish gives 30 points for the green jersey, while a (flat) "mountain" finish gives 20. I'm not sure if there's much difference in those on the lower categories (in the 'cont_22' classifications file), but I did also hope it could change the sprint start. Too bad it doesn't then, but not the biggest problem

As you said, would've been nice to tweak the finishing that way. The good thing seems to be you can't insert serious "bugs" accidently... though wrong winnings or sprint points can be annoying, too. |

A brief overview about the upcoming stages within the next four or five weeks. Due to work I haven't much time yet and am slow anyway...
Bucks County Classic (1.2 America Tour)
Race is the 2012 replacement for the Univest GP
Status: 50 % done
Foix - Loudenvielle-le Louron (Stage 15 - Tour de France 2007)
Another requested TDF-stage. Am not that experienced with high mountain slopes and face a remarkably slow progress.
Status: 25 % done
Finally wanna accomplish the Vuelta al Tachira 2011 Edition. Already started as shown in last years thread. Haven't looked into it yet, but am sure I'll be confronted with some strange things I have to redo within the first nine stages which have already been done back then.
(Give it a 50 % done, but will be finished last.) |

Really nice job Too bad it's a replacement race, I was already quite happy with one more American race Btw, nice finish screen (the two Sky riders celebrating ahead of the pack is cool, even if they are Sky riders )

Thanks a lot for the kind and supportive words, guys!
Converted the first stage of last years Vuelta al Tachira (San Fernando city circuit)... just changed the appearance of the city and widened the roads.

Thanks for starting to create/convert Tachira! Stage 1 looks good - and Im sure the stages will look even better once they get less flat Nice to have good wide roads for a flat circuit stage too

You just can't accept the automatic cities the way the editor builds them right Nice job

Thanks folks!
Will be a way to go up to the mountains. There won't be any KOM-Points awarded until stage 5.
Upped stage 2.
Including some plain editor generated cities (...which certainly doesn't apply for the finish.)
