The plan is to do the classics. Philippe is already in great shape so has decided to skip Scheldeprijs. After the 6 classics, RvV, Paris - Roubaix, Brabanste, Amstel, Fleche Wallone and L-B-L his shape will decline.
However, he will start the Giro and rides the first week. There is three hilly stages there who suits him well so we will try to take the leader jersey before he quits after 9 stages.
Then it's time for rest! During June he will only ride the National's in Belgium before he makes his combeack in Tour de Walonie in the end of July. He finishes July in Spain with Clásica San Sebastian.

[img-l]https://img268.imageshack.us/img268/3619/11628541.png[/img-l] Ronde van Vlaanderen - Preview [img-r]https://img268.imageshack.us/img268/3619/11628541.png[/img-r]
It's time for Ronde van Vlaanderen. Ronde van Vlaanderen is known for it's steep and cobbled hill. The most famous climbs are probably Koppenberg and Muur Geraadsbergen (pictured). However, there is a lot of othe climbs too and the race could be won in many different ways. Crosswinds and flat is important in this classic too and it's not always the strongest rider who wins! It's the smartest rider who wins this race. The question is: How smart is Philippe Gilbert, one of the most agressive riders in the bunch?
The race stars in Brugge and halfway through the race you enter the climbs. After 178 kms you enter Old Kwaremont and this is where the race starts. After a couple of climbs you will finaly enter the two final clims, Muur Geraadbergen and Bosberg. The race is often decided in theese two climbs but you must remember that there is still about 20kms from the top of Bosberg to the finish!
Fabian Cancellara won this race in 2012. Juan Antonio Flecha was 2nd and Tom Boonen 3rd. Philippe Gilbert was 7th.
In 2011 Nick Nuyens won here in front of Sylvian Chavanel and Fabian Cancellara. Philippe Gilbert was 9th. If Philippe continues two advance 2 positions every year he will be 5th this year and win the race in 2015.

The race starts in Brugge. The sky is cloudy but it looks likes the sun will be shining by the end of the day.
20-year old Ghislan Medved makes the first attack today. It's an good attack and later he will find himself in the breakaway.
A few other riders joins Medved on his way Meerbeke.
The bunch enter the first cobbles. Quickstep is working in the front while Omega Pharma does everthing to take Philippe into a good position.
The breakawy is caught in Old Kwaremont. Jan Kuyckx (Landbouwkrediet) attacks in Koppenberg and takes the lead.
The pace is hard in bunch when Lampre and Quickstep works to catch Kuyckx. Philippe is able to follow without any bigger problems but van Summeren looks stronger...
The bunch reaches the tp of Koppenberg but it continues climbing for another 3 kms. Matti Breshel attacks and the pace is really hard when the other favourites does everthing they can to catch him. Philippe feels that van Summeren is stronger than him today and "Summie" is given the role as team leader.
The bunch is streched out and a small group is formed. All the big favorites are here. Philippe Gilbert, Johan van Summeren and John Degenkolb represents Omega Pharma in this group.
Is Boonen in trouble? The former world-champion and twice winner in "de Ronde" is a couple of meters behind the first group.
The answer is no. Boonen reaches the fist group again. Philippe is in the back of the group but is already looking for a better position! Muur Geraadsbergen is just around the corner...
Philippe attacks in Muur Geraadsbergen. Cancellara and Leukemans is just behind him and all the other favourites reaches him at the top of the climb. Better luck next time Philippe!
Altough Philippe failed this race is far away from finished. Devolder attacks in Bosberg and onlyone rider follows him, Johan van Summeren.
Devolder and van Summeren are together in the front after Bosberg. Cancellara and Bonnen is chasing behind while Philippe is the third group with Leukemans, Breschel and Pozatto
Philippe Gilbert attacks and with 5kms to he is just behind Cancellara. Cancellara couldn't follow Boonen but it looks like this will be a fight against van Summeren and Devolder.
van Summeren starts the sprint with 1.5kms left. Devolder is a better sprinter than van Summren but after 254 kms of bike racing everything is possible!
Sad but true, Devolder passes van Summeren in the last corner. Devolder will win this but 2nd with van Summeren is still avery good result for the team. However, it looks like Katusha is the strongest team on the cobbles?
Stijn Devolder takes his 3rd victory in Meerbeke! Johan van Summeren is 2nd and Tom Boonen is 3rd. A triple for Belgium!
Fabian Cancellara had a small gap to Philippe when the sprint started but Philippe is alsomst caught him. Cancellara holds off to take the 4th while our friend Philippe is 5th. He has finished 9th-7th-5th the last three years... Will he be 3rd next year?
Stijn Devolder wins Ronde van Vlaanderen 2013!

Nice try by Philippe on the Kapelmuur. Van Summeren was very strong today.
Although there was no victory, a very good race for Omega, with a podium and Top 5. Also funny Philippe's position progression on this race in the last 3 years xD

Paris -Roubaix is probably the most known one day classic. Why? Because it's so special. There is no other race with 55kms on cobbles and the finish on a velodrome. Do I need to say more about this race? Don't think so you already now all about it!
The cobbles is the decesive fact in this race. There is no hills and the wind is too weak. There is 27 selctions and 55kms of cobbles. All selections are rates on sclae of 1-5, were 5 is the hardest and most diffcult selections. Let's take closer look at three of the selections:
#18 Trouée d'Arenberg
Known as "Arenberg" this is probably the worst selection. Arenberg is selecton #18 and you enter the selections after 164 kms. You can't win the race in Arenberg but you can loose it here. A 2,4km long hell!
#10 Mons-en-Pévèle
Mons-en-Pévèle is 3kms long and one of the longest selections. It's selection #10 so it's a good place for an attack if you're strong. And trust me, you must be strong if want to win Paris - Roubaix.
#4 Carrefour de l'Arbre
Carrefour de l'Abre are two selections. Theese two selections are 3,2000 meters together and after 242 kms this selection really hurts. The race is often won here but there is still ~20kms to go after Carrefour de l'Abre.
Other selections:
#28 Troisvilles (The first selection)
#25 Quievy to Saint Python (The longest selection, 3700kms long)
#2 Hem (The last selection)
1896 Josef Fischer (GER) Diamant
...
1994 Andrei Tchmil (UKR) Lotto
1995 Franco Ballerini (ITA) Mapei-GB

Tom Boonen has an chance to become immortal. If he wins this year he takes his 4th victory and joins the legends.
Johan van Summeren won here in 2011 after an epic breakaway. He is in great shape and was 2nd in Ronde van Vlaanderen and won Scheldeprijs. Will he win once again?
Heinrich Haussler won last year. Don't expect much from him this year though. He has been injured since the start of the season so his shape is not good enough.

Marc's Comment: "Johan van Summeren will lead the team. He Scheldeprijs so he is in great shape and he is a better cobblestone rider than Philippe, especially when there is no hills."
Philippe Info:
Philippe's Comment: "My shape has decreased after Ronde van Vlaanderen but I will soon increase again. I have no goal to win Paris-Roubaix so I will try to help van Summeren instead."

Philippe's Comment: "Katusha looks stron as always. However we are not far behind and everything is possible in this race. Quickstep and Leopard will be up there as well and Juan Antonio Flecha rides his last Paris - Roubaix so he will try to win it!"
Wheather Forecast:
Cloudy and 14° C.
The team will ride over the cobbles on Canyon Ultimate CF SLX bikes with Mavic Cosmic Carbone SLR wheels and 28mm tires. Johan van Summeren won in 2011 on thoose wheels so they should be good enough.

Huge preview Really nice! Good in P-R and - a bit late - congrats on a great result in RvV! Van Summeren's 2nd and Philippe close to Cancellara, very good performance!

Ad the race starts in Compeigne. The weather isn't very good but we will hopefully see a top-10 by Philippe today and that would be enough to light up this day.
André Greipel tries to attack in the beginning of the race but he is caught. Adam Hansen gives it another try and Daniel Oss (Liquigas) joins him. The breakaway is formed, prehaps a little bit smaller than expected?
#28 Troisvilles Adam Hansen enters the first cobble-selection followed by Daniel Oss who is streching his back.
#28 Troisvilles Gert Steegmans leads the bunch over the first selection. The pace is already very hard and a few riders is struggling. This will be a long day!
Steegmans is still in the front. The bunch is streched out and last years winner, Heinrich Haussler (Garmin) drops the bunch. He isn't in any good shape.
This picture shows the importance of being in the front. The bunch is so streched out that there is approximately 2 minutes between th first and the last rider.
Finally! Alexandr Kuschynski is in the front! The race has started.
Adam Hansen and Daniel Oss are almost caught but then suddenly the pace decrease and they are given an gap again. A small chance for riders to recuperate.
The race is in the city of Arenberg!
Hansen and Oss enters Arenberg. Hansen leads Oss but he is very tired.
#18 Trouée d'Arenberg The bunch enter Arenberg in a speed of 60km/h. Everybody wants to ave a good posistion here to avoid falls and punctures.
Steegmans is back in the front and the pace increases. I am pretty sure it will be full gas all the way to the finish from here.
Adam Hansen drops Daniel Oss. However, there is just a matter of time before they will be caught.
Steegmans contiues to pace the bunch and Philippe is actually in some trouble now. It will be hard to make an top-5 but there is still small chance to make an top-10.
Alessandro Ballan (BMC) is in the front and his pace splits the bunch. Philippe is in the first group but he is very tired.
Steegmans is in the front... AGAIN! He could have won this today but now he has to work for Boonen.
A Lampre is in the front and the pace increase again. Philippe is really tired now. Just stay in this group Philippe, please!
#4 Carrefour de l'Arbre Johan van Summeren attacks in Carrefour de l'Arbre. It's an amazing attack and he produces over 1,000 watts. He is in great shape and it's an great move but is it enough?
Tom Boonen (Quicktep) is the only ride who can follow van Summeren. van Summeren leads Boonen over the second part of Carrefour de l'Arbre.
The other favourites realises the danger in letting Boonen and van Summeren go and starts to attack. Alessandro Ballan (BMC) and van Avermaet (FDJ) are among thoose. Juan Antonio Flecha makes a try as well. This is his last Paris - Roubaix and he will eveything to win it!
#2 Hem Johan van Summeren nows that Tom Boonen will beat him if they reaches the velodrome together so he makes an last attempt to go solo. Tom Boonen follows him without any problems.
Matti Breschel (Katusha) attacks an is given a gap. Sebastian Langeveld (Sky) Filippo Pozatto (Liquigas) and Greg van Avermaet (FD) tries to follow him but Jens Debusschere is catching them all. Matti Breshel is the only rider who manages to get an small gap.
Tom Boonen attacks and van Summeren can't follow him any more. van Summeren takes his own pace and aims at the 2nd instead.
Johan van Summeren enters the velodrome. Two years ago he was alone but now is he 2nd a couple of meters behind Tom Boonen (Quickstep)
Philippe mangaes to stay in the group with the favourites but he has no energy left for a sprint. Such a shame for Philippe.
The sprints starts. Philippe is in the end of the group with Jens Debusschere and John Degenkolb. Thay are all very tired.
Tom Boone takes his 4th victory in "the Hell of the North". He wil join the legends!
Poor Johan van Summeren. 2nd in Vlaanderen, 2nd in Roubaix. However, there is still a good result for the team.
Matti Breschel holds off and takes the 3rd. CAncellara is 4th and the other favourites are just behind him.
Bernhard Eisel wins the sprint in Philippe's group and takes 10th. John Degenkolb is 23rd, Philippe Gilbert 24th and Jens Debusschere 26th
24th in Paris - Roubaix isn't Philippe's best results ever but it's still ok. He isn't the best cobllestone rider after all. Especially when there is no hills.
Tom Boonen wins Paris - Roubaix 2013!

Wow, lots os SSs in this one (I've never seen so many - 31!). And a big (and very nice) preview. But this race deserves it. It's the hell of the north after all!
Again, Van Summeren with a great performance. He has really developed into a great 'cobblestoner'. Pity Gilbert couldn't get a nice performance, but lets wait for the coming hills =)
Boonen new Mounsier PR? xD

Unlucky with Gilbert but considering he is strongest and will probably win the ardennes they are still good results.
Well done with van summeren his win last year in Roubaix really was his breakthrough year!

All of you: Thanks
Brabantse Pijl - Short Preview
Brabantse Pijl is the 7th of our 10 classics but it's actually the first without any cobbles. This race suits Philippe well, he was 2nd in 2008 and won this race in 2011 and 2012. Will he win it again? Probably because the startlists are pretty weak and Philippe is our leader so if out tactics work, he will win!

Philippe Info:
Philippe's Comment: "My shape increases again! I am in the same shape as in 2011 when a won this race and the the Ardennes triple..."
It's an nice day in Flemish Brabant, Belgium. The sun is shinig and the tempature is around 20° C.
Armand Deldaele makes the first attack this morning. He is an great promster who will develope into a great climber some day.
4 other riders joins Deldaele and the breakawy is formed.
The breakaway enter the course in Overijse. They will ride a couple of lap on this hilly course before the finish.
The bunch laps the finish and two riders attacks. The ridares are: Laurens Ten Dam (Rabobank) and Arnold Jeanneson (FDJ). Leopard - Trek works to catch them.
Ten Dam and Jaensson joins the breakawy and the gap growns. Leopard - Trek realise the danger in letting Ten Dam and Jeanneson go and starts to pace harder. The hard pace gives a few riders problems.
We can also see the danger in letting Ten Dam and Jeanneson go but we can't pace and catch Deldaele. Instead, Jan Bakelandts launches an attack!
The other breakawy riders are tired so the two escapers (Ten Dam and Jeanesson) rides away from them. The gap is 2'30 minutes with 20kms to go!
Jan Bakelandts is caught and the gap is 1'50 with 15kms to go. Philippe Gilbert attacks in an last desperate try to catch Ten Dam and Jeanneson. It's an great attack and he will, at least, frighten his opponents before Amstel.
It looked impossible but Philippe is simply amazing. he has almost caught Ten Dam and Jeanneson with less than 5kms to go! However, the bunch is just behind them so no rest!
Philippe has caught the two escapers when Ten Dam attacks. Only 4kms to go and Ten Dam still has an small gap!
Philippe is so strong today. He reaches Ten Dam with 3kms to go and he still has an small gap to the bunch.
Ten Dam is to tired to challange Philippe and the bunch is to far behind. Philippe wins Brabantse Pijl for the 3rd time in a row! However, Laurens Ten Dam takes the 2nd so if Philippe had waited for the sprint, he would probably been a looser today...
Philippe Gilbert wins Brabantse Pijl 2013!

18/04: Amstel Gold Race
21/04: La Flèche Wallone
25/04: Liege - Bastone - Liege
Interview with Philippe Gilbert:
How do you fell the day before Amstel Gold Race?
My shape is great, I won in Brabanste Pijl but that doesn't say anything. You see, I won Brabantse in 2011 and then I won the triple. Last year I won in Brabantse as well but my best result in the Ardennes week was 2nd in Amstel. We will have to wait and see...
Speaking off Branbantse, that was an great attack. What were tou thinking when Ten DAm attacked with 4kms to go.
There is no time for thinking with 4kms to go. I simply did everthing I could and it turned out to be enough.
It was an great victrory for you! You have been riding solid this spring with plenty of podiums and other great results but in Roubaix you only managed 24th... What happend?
Paris - Roubaix is an race for cobble-riders. I am not a cobble-rider, I am an puncheur.
Are you happy with the team so far?
Yes, Bakelandts and Devennyns are in great shape and both could have won a clasic by themselves in another team. Van Summeren is having a great season and Vanendert, Kruijswijk and Veikkanen are solid in the hills. Armand Deldaele have impressed me a lot to.
Best moment so far this season?
Me and Degenkolb taking an great double in E3 Prijs. My win in Milano - San Remo was another great moment, but it was really nice to celbrate together with Degenkolb. It was an real team victory!
Any gossip about next year?
Liquigas, Leopard and Katusha wants to sign me and Omega Pharma wants to renew of course. I can't tell you more...
Well, Good luck in the Ardennes then! I really hope you make the triple once again!
This bet is all about Gilbert and the question is: Will he make the triple once again? Pick Gilbert's result in the three Ardennes Classics!
Amstel: Gilbert
Wallone: Gilbert
Liege: Gilbert
Rules and Scoring System: You will be given the difference. For example if you say Gilbert will be 1st and he wins you will be given 0 points. If he finishes 3rd you will be given 2pts, 4th 3pts, 5th 4pts etc. Lowest score wins and he will probably keep the spoiler for a while.
The winner will be given this beautiful spoiler until World Championships!
