Klöden back to his old strenght... Obviously he became a great puncheur/timetrialist but therefore weaker in the high mountains. Interesting to see him in the Ardennes. He already did quite well last year with nice attacks there. |

Ok, you have a point, but Tirreno tt wasn't hilly But you can see he improved his tt over winter very much.
Martin looks deadly fun in the Spanish hat

The T-A ITT was half as long. Gesink isn't bad in short, flat time trials either. It's the long flat ITTs where he suffers.
And that is a Basque hat. They call it 'Txapela'. Beware of what you say, you could have some problems if you say that in the Basque Country. |

Thanks for the tip, will remember the name from now on I guess we will wait till Tour to see how Gesink improved, but in my eyes he is much better, than last year on his position etc.

looks like he's middle glas years are over..and he is back. I believe that this can be he's best season start ever.
But don't tell him that he can be Schack leader for tour..he will run away. |

To clarify my position, I do agree that Gesink has improved his TT skills. What I meant is that it isn't really a surprise to see him do well in short/hilly TTs. |

true, but he gained time today in the second, more descent/flat part of the race *only lost a bit at Martin, i believe*
(i not really sure tbh, i think he was around 45 sec at the 12km mark and 50 sec at the finish, where others lost more, if i remember correctly) |

I did. Told you guys for years and years that Gesink is not a bad time triallist. He was nieuwelingen (the category before juniors) and junior ITT champion and 7th at the junior worlds ITT.
Told you if he just focussed on his position he would automatically come to the front. But you guys kept telling me it was impossible and it would never happen.
A big TOLD YOU SO... to you all. |

Are you joking?
Get all Gesink prologue/short FLAT itt results out. He completely sucked at that, often finished 75th or worse...
In long flat ITT in Dauphine 2009 he was 12th for crying out loud.
He's going to go far better in long flat itt's now.
Also, Gesink did the fastest last part of the GC contenders yesterday. The last part is the flat part.... He was even 10 seconds faster than Klöden on the flat part....
Just stop fooling yourself to think Gesink would still suffer in flat itt's. Because you are gonna regret it |

I've always believed in Gesink entirely because you told us over and over again how strogn he was at time trialling.
That said the real challenge is to see how well he does over a real GT route.
Also congrats to Kloden he's been very solid this year.

Gesink still needs something in the mountains to be in the top 3 in a GT though, i think. |

When Dekker returns, will this Gesink-obsession end? |

Just finished watching all the stages.
That's an incredible ride by Klöden. Quite a renaissance at this late age.
