I'm just gonna post my rambling thoughts here for old time sake
First thought: I know everyone must have thought the same thing about the "traditional" TT helmets when they first came out, but these helmets are getting ridiculous.

With you on the helmets, and they seem to have them on well before the start and after the finish, I guess they are very light.
And what does Arnaud De Lie do before grand tours that he keeps getting sick?

Wonder how Remco would go if we ever had a TT heavy TDF again. Every year it's fewer and fewer TT kilometers. Would be interesting to see what might happen if the climbers had to actually take significant enough time on him in the mountains to overcome his gap from 100+ ITT km's. Of course with Pog being only a tick behind, maybe it doesn't matter. But would be an interesting dynamic that they've kind of been working out of cycling the last decade or so.

What in the world was Lenny Martinez doing? Refuses to pull the whole way up the climb despite being the only rider with GC ambitions and therefore even more incentive to keep the pace high, then leaps around for second at the end and is frustrated at the finish. The break had a legit shot there and he blew it. He's now in 5th overall, but he could have actually solidified that if he pulled at all. Instead he has to beat Skjelmose tomorrow who looks pretty good right now.

Truly today was a ciclismo masterclass by Carapaz and Martinez. I can’t believe how many accelerations they both did throughout the stage

Oh wow I remember the times when we had one thread per tour week, sad that it's become what it is now..
Today's stage is very interesting though, Carapaz and Pedersen really giving some power to this stage. Let's see if the attackers can go and fight for the stage win.

We had one per stage when I joined. And unlike this one it went to the second page.

Oh, good old times.. Gotta admit that I'm not that much into both pcm and cycling am as I used to in the 2010s. Kind of sad to see this community not as active as it used to be.
Today's stage was amazing though. Really enjoyed it but I really wished Kuss would've taken it. And he got so lucky with that second chute. For once: well done ASO when it comes to safety preservations in that corner, could've been a nasty crash if these nets wouldn't have been there.
Curious to see what will happen tomorrow. Hopefully something as spectacular as last year though the final run to the finish after the climb is a bit longer this year. Hoping for something from MvdP.

Yeah, felt bad for Kuss. I love Carapaz, but he'd had enough successes in this last week already, and Kuss is a super nice guy as well. Would have liked to see him pull it off or at least have a duel on the final climb.
I'm an old man yelling at the cloud so I'm probably the only person who misses the traditional Champs Elysees stage. It was the biggest day in the world for the sprinters and now it's another one for Pog. But hoping for some excitement regardless.

Totally agree with you on this one. I don't mind doing it every few years but for me making it a punchy climbers stage is a downgrade in specialness. And harder to enjoy the end when a tough stage still has to play out.

It was. Though it would have been yet another Pogacar win if not for Van Aert. Like UU said, I think it's fine to have it every few years, but I don't think this should become the new Champs Elysees traditional stage.

New rule proposal: Montmartre will be included on the final stage if the GC difference is under a minute after stage 20.

I think, like the TT reduction, that it's an history between keeping things interesting for the viewers and indeed, having the last part of the Tour be something for the sprinters. Who didn't have a traditionnal last stage since 2023 I think?

I actually like the addition of Montmartre, and right now even so because we got some amazing riders at the front and then Decathlon chasing to make it a mass sprint for Kooij (even Seixas coming to the front to perhaps even help).
Or maybe it's a nice addition the way it is right now? Three times the Montmartre, 10km till the finish. So there's a chance for a puncheur but as well as for a sprinter. I don't mind a mass sprint but in the past this final stage didn't do a lot for me.
Just wondering what y'all are thinking about the final TT in Nice in 2024.
