This post is mostly copied from Cunegos introducing post of the last edition.
It's been a while since this game has been done, and I thought it might be nice to get it back up and running. Hopefully, many of you feel like joining
For those who don't know the game or have forgotten the rules, here's how it works:
A game master (me in the first iteration) will posit 5 questions on any given topic that follow the formula of "Name a ..." (for instance, "Name a Tour de France winner" - it doesn't have to be cycling-related, though). Every participant then sends a PM to the game master with his five answers.
The goal for the participants is to try and choose the answers they think most other people will go with, too. The more people give the same answer as you do, the more points you get. So for instance, if the answer for the Tour de France winner question are distributed as the following:
10x Tadej Pogacar
7x Chris Froome
4x Egan Bernal
2x Eddy Merckx
1x Cadel Evans
1x Simon Pellaud
Then everyone who sent in the answer Tadej Pogacar gets 10 points, everyone who answered Chris Froome gets 7 points and so on.
Now, you will notice that Simon Pellaud has yet to win the Tour de France. It is entirely permitted to submit wrong answers if you think you actually are with stupid - or if you're simply not sure if something technically "counts" as the thing that is being asked for, but you think many others might go with it anyway (Lance Armstrong might be such a case for the question above).
Each game consists of five rounds, so we will crown the winner after 25 questions,
who will then go on to host the next round (unless they really don't want to, of course). I hope the rules are clear. If not, don't hesitate to ask. Of course, the more people participate, the more fun it is (so feel free to let everyone else know you're in by replying here ).
I’d like to introduce an addition to the classical rules: Additional to the ‘High’ rounds (getting the answer with the most same answers) I’d like to play a ‘Low’ round with the same questions, in which you try to get an answer that as few others as possible will choose too (so no one else if anything goes well). So you’ll give two answers per question: a ‘High’ one and a ‘Low’ one (those answers will probably be different ones, but feel free to choose the same if you think that’s a good idea). So some players will finally be able to compete for 5-pointers and for the win at the same time! To avoid shenanigans only factually correct answers will count in the ‘Low’ round and factually wrong answers will be punished with a score equal to the worst answer given (but at least 5 points). For the ‘high’ rounds any answer is eligible without regards to it being correct. The combined ‘Hi-Lo’ score will be calculated by subtracting the ‘Low’ score from the ‘High’ score.
Let's jump right in with the first round. We start with something most of us should be comfortable with: Cycling.
I'm with stupid 2023: kandesbunzler26's Round 1
Cycling
1. Name a World Champion who’s still active (only Elite RR / ITT).
2. Name a PT stage race held this season.
3. Name a cyclist who has won at least two different Grand Tours.
4. Name a current French cycling team (CT or higher).
5. Name a sponsor that was part of a teams name in 2017 as well as in 2022 (PCT or higher).
PM me your answers until 7 p.m. daily time on Saturday, July 1st (so roughly in 5 days).

Nice to see this back, thanks for the initiative! One clarifying question on the low round: Is that a separate pool of answers, or are there two pools? Like, are all answers added together and then they get points according to whether they've been categorized as high or low? Or do all high answers go to one pool where they'll be scored, and then all low answers go into their own pool where they'll be scored?

It'll be treated like two seperate rounds with only the respective answers counted towards high in the high round and low in the low round. So please make clear which set of answers is for high and which for low.

Feel like this is the kind of thing that shouldn't be said in the public thread
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

1. Name a World Champion who’s still active (only Elite and RR / ITT).
In the high round there were some clear favourites with Evenepoel and Sagan with the better end for the reigning WC. The only other answers were Foss and Dygert.
The low round had pretty evenly distributed answers with even some more players choosing the Womens WC option (but not TMM who went this way on his high round, obviously chasing another 5-pointer here).
High | | | Low | Remco Evenepoel | 7 | | Mark Cavendish | 2 | Peter Sagan | 4 | | Chloe Dygert | 2 | Chloe Dygert | 1 | | Remco Evenepoel | 2 | Tobias Foss | 1 | | Tobias Foss | 2 | | | | Rui Costa | 1 | | | | Michal Kwiatkowski | 1 | | | | Peter Sagan | 1 | | | | Annemiek van Vleuten | 1 |
2. Name a PT stage race held this season.
The top answer in the high round was the Tour de France (no surprise there) followed by the three most recent races (no surprise either). TMM went with a Womens race (even including an Umlaut which I approve while jdog went with a small Portuguese race instead.
The low round saw another GT as top answer (which means worst answer here), this time La Vuelta. We had our first two invalid answers in a low round as the races are no stage race (Classic Brugge-De Panne) or not a PT race in any possible interpretation (Volta ao Alentejo).
Speaking of PT races: I obviously meant WT races (got mixed up with the Man-Game) but checked the Man-Game database and for .Pro races for any not WT answer. My apologies for this inaccuracy
High | | | Low | Tour de France | 4 | | Vuelta a Espana | 3 | Criterium du Dauphine | 2 | | Itzulia Basque Country | 2 | Giro d’Italia | 2 | | Tour de France | 2 | Tour de Suisse | 2 | | Renewi Tour | 1 | Paris-Nice | 1 | | Tour de Suisse | 1 | Thüringen Rundfahrt der Frauen | 1 | | Volta Ciclista a Catalunya | 1 | Volta ao Alentejo | 1 | | Classic Brugge-De Panne | invalid | | | | Volta ao Alentejo | invalid | |
3. Name a cyclist who has won at least two different Grand Tours.
For the high round Primoz Roglic was the rider to go, having achieved this just some weeks ago. TMM went with Gastone Nencini to get just 1 point, a name which quadsas brought up in the low round as well.
Speaking of which: the top (worst) answer here was legend Gino Bartali who was named three times. That’s exactly the kind of result I hoped for including the low round.
High | | | Low | Primoz Roglic | 5 | | Gino Bartali | 3 | Chris Froome | 3 | | Eddy Merckx | 2 | Eddy Merckx | 2 | | Nairo Quintana | 2 | Tadej Pogacar | 2 | | Egan Bernal | 1 | Gastone Nencini | 1 | | Chris Froome | 1 | | | | Denis Menchov | 1 | | | | Gastone Nencini | 1 | | | | Annemiek van Vleuten | 1 |
4. Name a current French cycling team (CT or higher).
This question saw the absolute top answer of this round as there’s obviously mainly one French Team: Groupama-FDJ.
Interestingly FDJ got named four times in the low round as well, distributed to three different teams: the two WT teams (men and women) and the CT development team. No other answer really sticked out – apart from Israel – Premier Tech, which is invalid as it’s a team from Israel (and yes, I checked that).
High | | | Low | Groupama-FDJ | 9 | | Arkea Samsic | 2 | AG2R Citroen | 2 | | Equipe continentale Groupama-FDJ | 2 | Cofidis | 1 | | Nice Metropole Cote d’Azur | 2 | Nice Metropole Cote d’Azur | 1 | | AG2R Citroen | 1 | | | | Cross Team Legendre | 1 | | | | FDJ-Suez | 1 | | | | Groupama-FDJ | 1 | | | | Van Rysel – Roubaix Lille Metropole | 1 | | | | Israel – Premier Tech | invalid |
5. Name a sponsor that was part of a teams name in 2017 as well as 2022 (PCT or higher).
The top answer here was a bit surprising for me (and probably Croatia as well ) as only one of you chose FDJ here although it’s huge visibility in the question before and them being a name sponsor for 25 years … Most players went with Quick-Step, Jumbo or Movistar instead.
The low round saw a bunch of answers without anyone getting named twice. But two invalid answers showed up: Axeon Hagens Berman was only a CT sponsor in both seasons and Tudor was just a CT sponsor in 2022.
High | | | Low | Quick-Step | 5 | | Androni | 1 | Jumbo | 3 | | Baloise | 1 | Movistar | 3 | | Caja Rural | 1 | FDJ | 1 | | Cofidis | 1 | Novo Nordisk | 1 | | FDJ | 1 | | | | Israel | 1 | | | | KTM | 1 | | | | Movistar | 1 | | | | Novo Nordisk | 1 | | | | Wanty | 1 | | | | Axeon Hagens Berman | invalid | | | | Tudor | invalid |
The overall lead was only disputed between those who named Groupama-FDJ with Nemo being the one coming out on top.
TMM achieved a 5-pointer in this round, interestingly the only one including the low round.
Overall ‘Low’ and ‘Hi-Lo’
The low round saw bbl not participating. Croatia and ivan got the lowest scores with 6 points, followed by alex with 7 and TMM with 8. On the bottom end Nemo got the highest score in the low round too, meaning he’s only mid-field in the combined hi-lo scores. Those see alex on top while TMM managed to get a negative combined score.
I'm with stupid 2023: kandesbunzler26's Round 2
Other sports on wheels
1. Name a manufacturer that won the 24 hours of Le Mans (overall only).
2. Name a driver that won the Indy 500 since 2014.
3. Name a driver that was Formula 1 drivers champion exactly once.
4. Name a World Rallye Championships driver champion apart from Loeb and Ogier.
5. Name a World Championship currently held by the FIM (International Motorcycling Federation).
PM me your answers until 7 p.m. daily time on Wednesday, July 5th.
