Well, the Irishman sure is back as one of the favorites! He might suffer in the mountains against the likes of Cattaneo, Haig or veteran Taaramäe, but he still might have this capacity to make the last climb hard enough. In any case, it’s the time-trials which will decide on the final result, and the first day should already give some indications.

Two stages are for the specialists, if they don’t have too heavy legs after the mountainous one. Behind the best of them, Durbridge, Assa Abloy brings in two contenders with Paillot and Gonzalez Salas. Kittel comes back after winning the opening stage in 2019, and Rekita will try to bring glory to CT.

Not so strong a field for an HC race, one could think! More so when you see that Strava brings three men in this list with Bouhanni, Colbrelli and Sanikwathi. We’ll have to see whether they can make a winning train. Willwohl is the best representative of the CT.
