Welcome to the 11th edition of the Giro del Trentino. It's only a three day event, but all three days are difficult and important for the final outcome:
a middle length TTT to start things off, a behemoth queen stage and a final mountainous day for the riders to wave goodbye to their beloved legs.
While the last day often goes to the breakaway and the team time-trial might only decide minor places, any one bad day can be crucial.
With that said let's look at some of the favourites:
| MO | HI | ST | RS | RC | AC | TTT | Stüssi | 79 | 73 | 77 | 73 | 78 | 66 | ***** | Schlegel | 78 | 77 | 71 | 74 | 76 | 75 | **** | Masnada | 77 | 76 | 76 | 75 | 73 | 73 | ***** | Alarcon | 81 | 70 | 66 | 69 | 68 | 73 | *** | Kuss | 78 | 71 | 74 | 76 | 71 | 69 | **** | Kozhatayev | 77 | 74 | 71 | 75 | 71 | 69 | ***** | Warbasse | 78 | 75 | 75 | 73 | 72 | 65 | **** | Talansky | 77 | 75 | 72 | 73 | 74 | 66 | ***** | Mäder | 77 | 71 | 73 | 75 | 77 | 64 | ***** | Aru | 78 | 74 | 74 | 75 | 76 | 70 | ** | Ablenado | 78 | 67 | 73 | 77 | 77 | 65 | *** | Schleck | 77 | 73 | 71 | 71 | 78 | 73 | * | Vasyliv | 77 | 74 | 78 | 72 | 75 | 67 | * | Iturria | 77 | 73 | 77 | 74 | 76 | 61 | * | Barta | 76 | 72 | 71 | 74 | 70 | 67 | *** | Antunes | 76 | 72 | 71 | 69 | 70 | 67 | *** | Pedrero | 76 | 73 | 73 | 68 | 71 | 71 | ** | Hoem | 77 | 72 | 74 | 69 | 74 | 62 | * | Bonnin | 76 | 71 | 69 | 66 | 67 | 71 | ** |
Stüssi comes here as the best allround climber with a top notch TTT unit. He also has capable lieutenants like Masnada and Mäder who could both win the race on a good day. Schlegel will be counting on his great punch to gain time on others, especially on stage 2. Alarcon will need to do the same, but to an even greater effect.
Kuss and Warbasse should form a strong duo for McCormick. Kozhatayev and Talansky should be both solitary leaders of their teams and will be counting on their expert team time-trial setups to put them in a good position early on.
Some of the other climbers on the list are a notch below and also should be behind after stage 1. Don't be surprised to see some of these names hunting a stage victory on the final day.

Thanks Red. Top 5 goal here for Glanbia.
I've gone all in for the TTT which might leave Talansky vulnerable for the Mountains
Good luck all

Last C2 outing of the year for us. Pure XP race. Skjelmose in a breakaway would be awesome.

Got the top TTT team (except for Kuss) here for round 5(?) round in the CT Stage race slugfest.
Jura has to be favorites but hope Warbasse or Kuss can get a top GC position and we can put in strong depth scoring.

I hope for the Vancouver repeat, but that might be hard. Hope on a good form by Itturia nonetheless.
Thanks for the preview and for the comung reports!

Our first race in ages and not much to hope for except some action from Teuns in a break.

We haven't achieved any goals this year, so the Top 5 goal here is a must. And we definitely should do it, having one of the best TTT units plus three of the strongest climbers. We'd obviously want to win the race, but unfortunately Stüssi has often struggled against some supposedly weaker climbers. Let's hope we don't phone it in here!
Thanks for the preview, red.

Barta is back to lead us in C2 once again. This race suits us less than the last one, so we're probably looking at a Top 15 as a realistic target.
Thanks for the preview red

Welp, seems like we nearly dropped our GC leader...
Let's hope for better legs tomorrow, as 2 minutes is not that bad.
Thanks for the report red.

Not optimal to miss out on the win in our most important TTT of the year (given that it was the first stage), but I guess losing out to BWT's dream-team isn't something to be ashamed of. Congrats!
Hoping now for two good stages by Stüssi now, who *should* have the upper hand here (like he should have in Catalunya and Vancouver, both of which he didn't win). But with 7 teams finishing within a minute from the winner, the race is unfortunately way more open than I was hoping for it to be after the TTT...
Thanks for the report.

19 seconds is very manageable. Kuss dropped a few seconds but Warbasse stayed at the front. Big day tomorrow.
Thanks for the report, another great performance by BWT.

Exactly the result to be expected but it leaves me thinking getting a top 5 will be a tough ask of Talansky
BWT and Jura shaming Glanbia in yet another TTT

Thanks for the report, quite thrilling!
I wondered why it was Berthet we sent in the break, but he fought valiantly. I hope he can fight more tomorrow to at least contest this KoM jersey.
All in all, quite a good stage by the team, Itturia followed how he could, and Doubey also is in the points. Hopefully we can improve that tomorrow, maybe a top 10 still is possible, but the missed TTT surely hit us hard.

Yes, perfectly executed game plan by Stüssi! Winning this stage was crucial, as nobody could now overtake him just with finish line bonus seconds. However, tomorrow will be another really hard stage, and now I doubt we'll get much help from other teams. Keeping things together won't be easy, but we'll have to.
I clearly will never get how PCM decides which teams get great depth results, though, as especially Masnada's RDs are just wasted here, but I still prefer it this way. I guess McCormick must have similar feelings
Thanks for the report, red, feels great to see that Stüssi finally got some love from your PCM (hoping I haven't just jinxed it now ^^)

Congrats Fab, that was a real climbers' day
Not a great day for Glanbia but if we finished 8th and 9th overall I'd feel satisfied all the same
Thanks for he report, great quality as always

We got the Skjelmose breakaway we asked for, so I'm chalking that up as a win.

Nice ride by Warbasse and 2nd on the GC will be a good result if he can hold it but as Fab said, disappointed by the depth. No excuse for Kuss to lose almost 4 minutes in that field and the other guys weren't great either.
Hopefully we won't work too much tomorrow and let Jura kill themselves (sorry Fab). I do think that is one factor in who gets depth.

Big win for Stüssi. Interesting GC after two stages, and I assume it will not change too much anymore. I can see the breakaway taking the stage tomorrow, just like the legendary Seboka did in 2020.
