First new signing announced!
It has been a slow start to transfers here at Farfetch HQ, but tonight we finally managed to get a deal over the line - and we hope to have more to follow in the next few days. Firstly however we have to say goodbye to Tosh Van der Sande, who has left the team after a successful spell that saw him win the Tour Down Under last season. We wish Tosh all the best at Duolingo, and hope we can re-invest the 500,000 we sold him for wisely. Indeed, it is that money (and a little more besides) that we spent on the man we’re about to introduce!
| Magnus Cort Nielsen | 4.100 | 28yo | Stage Racer | €160.000 |
Fl | Mo | Hi | TT | St | Rs | Rc | Co | Sp | Ac | Fi | Dh | Pr | 72 | 78 | 74 | 72 | 76 | 75 | 74 | 60 | 54 | 71 | 65 | 64 | 72 |
Magnus Cort Nielsen joins the team from Evonik after stopping there for a coffee while the ink dried on the paperwork of another deal. A rider we have long admired, and one we would have tried to sign last season had we known he was available, we paid a fee of 900,000 to bring him in to be our third stage racer. Discussions about future training have been had with him as well, though much will depend on the rest of our transfer business this window. For now, the plan is for him to free up Adam Yates to ride in the Ardennes Classics and similar races by taking the lead in some of the stage races the Brit would previously have ridden. |

After a slow first couple of days, things sparked into life in the last 24 hours as we confirmed three arrivals from free agency. While we haven’t yet confirmed the departures of the riders this trio will be replacing, we can still present our new riders for the upcoming season!
| Rasmus Tiller | 4.100 | 25yo | Cobbler | €415.000 |
Fl | Mo | Hi | TT | St | Rs | Rc | Co | Sp | Ac | Fi | Dh | Pr | 74 | 63 | 70 | 67 | 76 | 75 | 70 | 78 | 74 | 73 | 69 | 70 | 69 |
Rasmus Tiller joins the team as a free agent, having spent the last season riding at this level for the now disbanded Volvo team. A newly maxed rider, we had to pay far more than we originally hoped to secure his services – his salary of 415,000 making him the highest paid rider on the team. However his versatility offers options in flat and hilly races, and with him being training eligible next season at the age of 26 we felt it a worthwhile investment given the difficulties we faced trying to sign similar riders in this window.
| Cees Bol | 4.100 | 26yo | Sprinter | €85.000 |
Fl | Mo | Hi | TT | St | Rs | Rc | Co | Sp | Ac | Fi | Dh | Pr | 74 | 64 | 69 | 67 | 73 | 76 | 79 | 67 | 77 | 75 | 68 | 67 | 69 | 76 | 64 | 70 | 67 | 75 | 77 | 81 | 68 | 79 | 77 | 68 | 67 | 69 |
Cees Bol is another addition from free agency, and a rider we coveted last season before he signed for Fablok. If there was ever a rider who summed up perfectly what we’re about as a team, it is perhaps Cees: young, talented, versatile and with the kind of energy stats you’d expect were grown in a lab. This season he’ll get a few of his own chances as well as supporting Salem Kemboi, but we expect when maxed next season he’ll take on more of a key role as our second sprinter.
| Georgios Boutopoulos | 2.00 | 25yo | Cobbler | €85.000 |
Fl | Mo | Hi | TT | St | Rs | Rc | Co | Sp | Ac | Fi | Dh | Pr | 72 | 66 | 69 | 64 | 69 | 71 | 66 | 70 | 69 | 75 | 75 | 72 | 66 | 78 | 68 | 72 | 66 | 73 | 74 | 70 | 74 | 73 | 79 | 79 | 75 | 68 |
Georgios Boutopoulos is the third of our new signings, turning pro on a wage of 85,000. We faced stiff competition from Festina for his services, but we’re glad we managed to win out in the end. His versatility and explosiveness alone would be key assets, but his strength on the flat and cobbles, as well as his aggressiveness made pursuing him a key objective. We may also consider training him as a sprinter or puncheur depending on what happens with other moves, but for now we expect him to develop into a strong all-rounder with a focus on cobbles. |

Really curious to see how well Tiller does. I had considered him a lot before transfers as he has a very nice base for future training but went another way.
Bol is an obvious fit for you with those energy stats while Boutopoulos was a rider i never really looked into before transfers but those maxed stats look amazing. I'm stunned that SotD didnt priorized him more. |

I would train Boutopoulos slightly different, but imo he is the best of the crop. I love your signings here, all of them.

Yeah I also have a different path for Boutopoulos. Not much, but a bit :-)
It wasn’t possible to pursue him due to being significantly above the cap. He was the first rider I bid for next to Cheller, in the hope I could sneak him home with my limited cap (which was almost 700K above the limit at the time).
I will try my best to land him at a later point. I hope it will be possible, for now I’ll have to be content to see him next to Soulious whom I will also attempt to land once I sell of one of my 3 french leaders :-)

A very nice bunch of signing for you! Tillier very quickly went out of my budget range so I can only dream of having him in the future

Following the signing of three new riders yesterday, today was mainly a day of departures. Frederico Figueiredo, Milan Menten and Viktor Verschaeve all left the team in deals involving cash, while Julius van den Berg, Gaspar Goncalves and – somewhat surprisingly – Hugh Carthy left in deals involving rider swaps. But who did those swaps bring in? Let’s meet the two new members of our team!
| Louis Meintjes | 4.100 | 29yo | Stage Racer | €410.000 |
Fl | Mo | Hi | TT | St | Rs | Rc | Co | Sp | Ac | Fi | Dh | Pr | 71 | 80 | 78 | 71 | 77 | 76 | 78 | 57 | 61 | 69 | 71 | 74 | 71 |
Louis Meintjes is the man who joins the team to replace Hugh Carthy, with a fee of 300,000 on top of the rider swap sealing the deal with cycleYorkshire. We think that in Meintjes we’ve signed a perfect rider for the way we like to race: comfortable on short and long climbs, and hard to drop once he gets into a strong position. While he is older than Carthy and therefore less likely to have a long term future with us, we think that for the next three seasons at least the benefit to our scoring prospects is worth the cost.
| Simone Velasco | 4.47 | 26yo | Puncheur | €50.000 |
Fl | Mo | Hi | TT | St | Rs | Rc | Co | Sp | Ac | Fi | Dh | Pr | 72 | 71 | 74 | 60 | 73 | 70 | 67 | 64 | 68 | 74 | 74 | 69 | 62 | 73 | 72 | 76 | 60 | 75 | 71 | 68 | 64 | 69 | 76 | 75 | 69 | 62 |
Simone Velasco joins us from Mapei as part of the deal that saw van den Berg and Goncalves leave, alongside a nice chunk of cash coming our way. He’s a slightly different type of puncheur to Goncalves, but while he is weaker on longer climbs he makes up for that with his aggressiveness and tendency to get in breakaways. We expect he won’t stay with us for long once he reaches his full potential, but as a throw-in that enabled a deal to happen we think Velasco is a nice pick-up. |

Very jealous of Tiller. Now I just want to see the training you do, especially if it's on Cort!

I was after Tiller as well, but I had a strange off season where I couldn't quite figure out what I wanted after plan A failed, so I couldn't go any higher for him in the end.
Looks like a perfect long term fit on your team
